This was a guide I wrote for my alliance. I think its pretty good, and didn’t see it already discussed when I wrote it. If you think anything should be added just ask.

Favor production is pretty easy to calculate. A temples favor production is calculated by the square root of the level of the temple multipled by the world speed. Divine statues add an additional 5 to the temple level.

Favor Production Formula= (sum of the temple levels worshiping that god +5* number of divine statues worshiping that god)^0.5

When you have multiple cities, the favor production is lesser than the sum of the two cities production. Below is a list of what two cities without favor each produce if they are worshiping separate gods, and the last column is if they worship the same god.

So in conclusion your first four cities should worship different gods. Also if you have both worshiping the same god, and you change 1 city from worshiping that particular god, you will lose all favor accumulated by both cities for said god.
