Ragnarok Online 2 Mark of Genocide Analysis

Ragnarok Online 2 Mark of Genocide Analysis by SicariusCrux

Hi Guys! I’ve been reading a few skill/stat guides/threads for Thief/Assassin class and noticed that there’s a debate on whether maxing out Mark of Genocide or leaving it at level 1. Few says to max it and other players (ignorant players if you ask me) even say your a “noob” for not maxing it. Others says its good at level one. so lets do the math shall we.

First, lets look into the skill:

Mark of Genocide (Buff):
Description: Increases Critical Rate of all Party and Attack Squad members by:
Level 1: 0.4% for 30 mins
Level 5: 2.0% for 30 mins

Now we may have two different versions of computing this depending on the person reading and understanding the Description of the skill. 1st interpretation may be that it adds as is, example will be 10% (your critical rate) + 0.4% (MoG Buff). the other one is that, it will add the percentage of your critical rate to your current critical rate. example: 10% (your critical rate) + [10*0.004] (MoG Buff). the second one will yield a lower result as you can see now. but we will include that in our analysis later, just for the heck of it. haha!

Now for the computation.

Let us assume your critical rate is 10% and you did 10 attacks.
which means 1 out of 10 (1/10) of your attack will be a critical hit.
COMPUTATION: 10% = 0.1 (divide by 100 to remove the percentage)
10 (Number of your attacks) x 0.1 (percentage for critical hit) = 1 (Number of critical hits)

With MoG Buff:

(OPTION 1)
Level 1: 10% + 0.4% = 10.4%

This means 1.04 out of 10 (1.04/10) of your attacks will be a critical hit.
COMPUTATION: 10.4% = 0.104 (divide by 100 to remove the percentage)
10(Number of your attacks) x 0.104 (percentage for critical hit) = 1.04 (Number of critical hits)

Level 5: 10% + 2% = 12%

This means 1.2 out of 10 (1.2/10) of your attacks will be a critical hit.
COMPUTATION: 12% = 0.12 (divide by 100 to remove the percentage)
10 (Number of your attacks) x 0.12 (percentage of critical hit) = 1.2 (Number of critical hits)

(OPTION 2)
Level 1: 10% + [10*0.004]% = 10.04%
1.004/10 of your attacks will be a critical hit

Level 5: 10% + [10*0.02]% = 10.2%
1.02/10 of your attacks will be a critical hit

Forgive me for not showing the solution on OPTION 2. Struck by laziness. haha!

SUMMARY:

Lets use the OPTION 1 for the summary since its much higher than OPTION 2.

Level 1: 1.04/10 critical hits – rounding that off it would be 1/10 critical hits

Level 5: 1.2/10 critical hits – rounding that off it would still be 1/10 critical hits

Let’s up the number of attacks a bit just to show the difference of both levels. Lets assume you did 100 attacks.

Level 1: 10.4/100 critical hits – rounding that off it would be 10/100 critical hits

Level 5: 12/100 critical hits – rounding off; 12/100 critical hits

I will not tell you which is good or what; I’ll let you decide.
Just tell me if you contest my solution and formula. we can discuss.

With that, I’ll leave you with a question:
Are you willing to pump 4 skills points for 2 extra critical hits over a hundred attacks?

the answer is only yes in my case when I am stacking crit, alone useless but making my crit from 38%-40% then yes. if you include parties in the matter you are increasing by 10% assuming a party of 5
