Torchlight 2 Useful Information Compilation

This is for personal reference but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to share. Please correct and suggest.
Spells
The player has four active slots for spells. Spells can be unlearned by clicking the “Remove Spell” button. The removed spell is permanently lost.
In T2, pets also have four active spell slots. Note that the cooldown period for active spells are often longer when used by pets. Although you have no control over when your pet will cast a spell, you can temporarily prevent it from casting spells by setting your pet to passive mode.
Tomes equipped on a pet convey their passive benefits to the pet only; apparently passives like increased magic item find are not relayed back to the player.
Caps/Limits
- Block: 50%
- Dodge Chance: 75%

Enchanting
- Enchanting items are done by paying some gold to a special NPC which can be found in towns and in the wilderness.
- Current consensus is that enchanting scales with the item level.
- NPC at towns can only do up to tree enchants to a item. Special enchanters in the wilderness can do more.
- There is a ~20% chance to get stronger enchants. When that happens a special effect and sound plays.
- Any item can be enchanted. As long as it doesn’t have max enchants already. Max enchants might differ from enchanter to enchanter.
- Enchanting add modifiers such as +Cast Speed or +Focus or sockets (small chance).
- A special rare NPC found in the wilderness can always add sockets to items. If the item has two or more sockets already it wont enchant.
- You can disenchant/re-enchant items. Edit: In contrary to what I believed. De-enchanting and item does not remove any original enchantment that was on the item. In other words, it will only remove enchantments you added to the item. I tested this on some items.

Types of Enchanters
All of them have max enchantments limited at 3 if not specified:
- Master Enchanter: Random type enchantments at 60-70% normal price. Disenchanting for 30-40% of normal price.
- Grandmaster Enchanter: Maximum number of enchantments: 4. At lower price. Disenchanting is free!
- Socket Enchanter: Adds sockets to any items. Mostly limited to 2 sockets per item (2-handed weapons are capped at 3 I think).
- Poison/Fire/Ice/Lighting Enchanter: Adds enchantments corresponding to his element (ex.: elemental armor / damage, elemental % resistance / damage, special effects (chance to poison etc.):
- Attribute enchanter: Adds attribute bonuses – probably best enchanter out there.
- Luck enchanter: Adds attributes connected with luck (gold/magic-find, exp bonus, lower fumble chance etc.).
- Unique enchanter: Maximum enchantments: 2. Adds quite nice unique enchantments (dodge / critical chance, dual wield / wand and staff damage, etc.).
Transmuting Recipes
- 3x Health Potion = upgraded Health Potion
- 3x Mana Potion = upgrade Mana Potion
- 3x Gems/Socketables = Random Gem/Socketable
- 1x Non-Socket Item + 2 Gems/Socketables of same or greater than item level = Add one/two sockets on item.
- 4x Unique Items (yellow) = 1 random Unique. Lowest item level determines level of generated item.
- 2x Any Set Item = Random Set Item. Lowest level determines level of generated item.
- 2x Spell/Skill scrolls = Random Spell/Skill scroll
FAQ
What happens when I finish the game?
When you finish the game it unlocks a special place called The Mapworks (screenshot) where you can endlessly play different maps of different levels at your choice. Also, at any time you can talk to a girl in Minehead town and accept her offer which will restart playing from the beginning in a game mode called New Game Plus or NG+. Mobs will be harder, loot will be better.
