Between Long cool-downs and the chill of winter, it seems like documentation and finding information about anything past 10th level can sometimes be a chore.  So I figured I’d draft out a quick guide on hero choices, for those without a good solid league like Unholy Union to help them out and pass on useful information.

Your Heroes are going to be the very basis of your experience in crown quest, without good heroes, you can’t conquer maps, can’t move up to higher level cities, can’t get a decent subdue.  At times though, it’s hard to figure out exactly what does what, and a little trial and error is sometimes necessary to figure out what you’re really looking for.

I made this guide in order to make the information a little more accessible.  It contains a quick overview on hero stats, troop types, special attacks, and a list of heroes up to Spartacus. It also omits prestige heroes, no way I’m giving away Brutus trade secrets!

-~-Stats-~-

Troops: This is the amount of health a hero will have in battle.  More troops means the ability to take more hits.  Think of it as their hit points.

Heroes starting troop count also defines how many troops they’ll gain per level.

Nor Atk: Normal attack score, used to calculate the standard attack damage, and defense  in battle.

S.P Atk: Special attack score, Used to calculate special attack damage, and SP attack defense.

Dis. Atk: Disaster attack score, this stat is only used for attack damage for mage-type heroes, else represents your dis defense.

Arms:  This is a heroes troop type, each troop type has it’s own graphic, how it looks in battle, and bonuses. Hover your mouse over this to see how the particular unit helps.

S.p Atk Skill: Special attack skill, when a normal hero’s morale gauge is full in battle, his next attack will unleash a special attack.  If you hover your mouse over the special attack skill, it will show you the details of what that special attack does.

Military Rank:  Starting out, level 1 troops will have a rank of ‘Lv. 1 Trainee’, this rank increases with every level, and effects just how good that troop is.  It has an effect on every stat, attack, defense, Disaster, etc.  The one thing Military rank has no bearing on is troop count.    Military rank is also counted in base 20.  Lv. 1-20 trainee, then lv. 1-20 veteran, etc.

-~- Troop Types overview -~-

Every hero has a troop type.  These classes give bonuses and different traits to a hero, making each one a little bit different.

There are four different types of Heros in Crown Quest;  Standard heroes, Mech-type heroes, Mage-type heroes, and Support-types.

Standard heroes: Any hero with a S.p Atk Skill is a your standard hero.  They do normal attacks when it’s their turn, their morale builds up, and when it’s full, they unleash their special.  These troops are very versatile, and make up the mainstay of most armies.  their special attacks can be devastating when used correctly, and can allow them to hit multiple targets, cause status effects, or just plain old do massive amounts of damage.

Mech-Type Heroes:  These heroes do not have special attacks, and have no morale gauge.  They do normal attacks every turn.  Their troop type dictates special traits that focus on dealing and taking damage, such as attacking in a line on every attack, or higher defense.

Mage-type Heroes: These units have no special attack or normal attack, instead each turn they use their magic to perform a disaster attack.  These units are fickle, because there’s a chance that the attack will fail, and aren’t recommended at low levels due to the infrequency of getting Disaster attack improving equipment.  Disaster attacks can be very effective because there is no equipment that defends against them, and depending on troop type, may come with special abilities such as dazing the target.

Support-type Heroes:  These troops have no attack to speak of, however they provide bonuses that help the rest of the heroes in your formation, such as healing your troops, increasing morale, or decreasing your opponents morale.

Standard Troop Types:
-Arab Cavalry : Much more chance to dodge the attack.
-Band Cavalry: Chance to dodge the attack.
-Basaker: Chance to block or dodge the attack, High normal attack damage
-Brave Infantry: Chance to block the attack
-Brave Shield: Chance to block or dodge the attack.
-Crazy Crossbow: Much higher for all defence and attack
-Crazy Javelineers: Much more chance to deal critical damage
-Crazy Lancer: Chance to dodge the attack, and have chance to deal critical damage
-Crossbow-man: Much more chances to deal a critical damage
-Dacia Sickle Soldier: Strengthen Damage to Infantry
-Doppelsoldner – Chance to Block.
-Elite Firebrand: Chance to deal critical damage, and chance to dodge the attack.
-Elite Lancer: Much more chance to dodge the attack, High normal attack damage.
-Elite Longbowman: Chance to deal the critical damage
-Firebrand: Much more chance to deal critical damage, and have chance for block the attack
-Great Axemen: Chance to block the attack, and have chance to deal the critical damage
-Heavy Shield: Chance to block and high defence to normal attack.
-Horse archers: More chance to deal critical damage.
-Hunter – Chance to deal critical damage, and have chance to fight back
-Legionary Cavalry: Much higher for all defence and attack
-Legionary Infantry:`Much higher for all defence and attack, good block rate, chance to dodge, chance to critical
-Legionary Lancer: Much more chance to dodge the attack
-Longbowman: chance to deal the critical damage.
-Parthia Cavalry: Have a great chance to do critical damage
-Pavise Soldiers: Have a Great chance to block
-Phalanx Pikemen: Chance to block the attack
-Pikemen: Chance to block the attack.
-Praetorian Cavalry: Much more chance to dodge the attack.
-Ranger: Chance to block the attack, and have chance to fight back.
-Rocket Soldiers: have a greater probability to counter and have chance to crit
-Royal Guard: Higher chance to block the attack.
-Shield Cavalry: Chance to dodge the attack and have high defence for normal attack
-Throwing Axemen: Chance to block the attack, and have chance to deal Critical damage.
-War Elephants:Chance to block or dodge the attack
-War Lion: Chance to dodge the attack.
-Warrior: Chance to block or dodge the attack.
-White shield: Chance to block the attack.

Mech Troop Types:
-Assault Vehicle: High Defense. Low Damage.
-Ballista: Line attack for all enemies from the target.
-Battering Ram: Attack single target with Higher damage.
-Heavy Crossbow: Enhanced Ballista. Line attack for all enemies from the target.
-Huge Siege Tower: Enchanced Siege Tower, much higher chance to crit and even more damage than a regular Siege Tower.
-Incendiary Pigs: Hit everyone(around half damage)
-Onager: Enhanced catapult. Column attack for all enemies from the target
-Siege Tower: Attack single target with more critical chance and also more damage than regular troops.

Mage Troop Types:
-Earth Apprentice: Higher chance to use disaster attack, and deal normal damage.
-Earth Flamen: Advanced Earth Apprentice.  Higher chance to use disaster attack.
-Hurricane Flamen: Hit everyone but may also fail to hit the targets.
-Ice Apprentice: chance to use disaster attack and deal much more damage
-Ice Flamen: Advanced Ice Apprentice. chance to use disaster attack and deal much more damage
-Illusions Flamen: Attack all the enemies without damage, and dizz all of them while hit.
-Plague Flamen: Attack all enemies without damage, and defect enemies while hit.(in other words, it poisons the enemies’ troops but may also fail, the poison lowers over time except if the plague flamen restore it to his former strength.)
-Thunder Apprentice: Lower chance to use disaster attack with hihg damage, and have chance to dize the target after hit.
-Thunder Flamen: Advanced Thunder Apprentice. Lower chance to use disaster attack with high damage, and have chance to dize the target after hit.

Special Troop Types:
-Dancers: Random to increase 100 morale for a troop, but have chance for fail.
-Drum Corps: Basicly the same as a signifier, with chances of failing
-Medical Team: Recover troops more effective.
-Signifier: Increase self morale, and reduce the enemy’s morale.

-~-Special Attacks -~-
Standard troops can use special attacks when their morale gauge is full.  In battles, heroes fill their morale by successfully attacking an enemy (+34 morale) getting attacked (+34 morale) watching a dancer shake dat ass (+100 morale) or from signifier (+34 each turn).  When they use their special, their morale drops to zero again, they can also lose morale if the opposing team has a signifier (-5 every turn) or being hit by an attack that drains, or steals morale.  Special attacks use the Special Attack skill to deal damage, and are defended by the S.p Defense gained from cloaks.

-Backstab: Attack the last troop in the row, and dizze the target.
-Bang attack: Attack single troops with normal and special attack damage.
-Bang, Rally: Uses Bang Attack serially. (repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100 instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)
-Breach attack: After hit, Damage all troops by line.
-Breach, Rally: use breach attack serially. (repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100 instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)
-Charge attack: Attack single troops, and dizze the target after hit.
-Column Strike: After hit, Damage all troops by Column.
-Counter Attack: Special attack will be released sereally after morale is 100(repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100 instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)Note, what counter attack does is still unknown
-Crash and Burn: Attack single target with high damage, but each attack you will do damage to yourself.
-Crazy Charge: Strike all of the enemies troops, and have chance to dizze the target(chance are low).
-Cross attack: Attack all of the enemies which are in the cross of the target. (One space up, down, left, and right of the target.  not a column and line strike from the target)
-Defensive stance: Attack single troops, after hit enemies attack damage becomes 1. Except disaster attack
-Heavy Strike: Attack single troops with high special attack damage(stronger than Power Attack)
-Inspire Ally: Gives ally troops 120 morale(every troop that can do special attacks will receive 120 morale except himself, of course)
-Luck attack: Attack single troops with high special attack damage. (Luck attacks have a greater variance, or range of damage, could do much more, could do much less)
-Lure into Rebel: Attack single troops, the damage made by the SP ATK heals of the same ammount your troops.
-Morale Impose: Attack single troops, and ingest the target morale to be your own.
-Morale Unbuild: Attack single troops, after hit target morale becomes zero.
-Power Attack: Attack single troops with high special attack damage.
-Rally attack: Attack single troops with special attack serially. High damage. (repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100  instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)
-Rally Defence: Attack single troops with special attack serially, and take half damage at the next turn. Damage value of this SP ATK is a lot lower than the other special attacks. (repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100 instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)
-Rebel, Rally(Rally Lure Into Rebel): Attack single troops serially with lure into rebel, but healing half of the damage instead of the regular lure into rebel. (repeatedly, once unit hits 100 morale and SP attacks, morale resets to 100 instead of 0, and will SP. attack each following round.)
-Single attack: Strike single target with high special attack damage.
-Stress Tactics: Attack single target, Deal more damage while you have less troops.
-Strike All: Strike all of the enemies troops.
-War Rave: Strike and decrease all the enemy that morale. (no effect on non-morale units or any troops with 0 morale)
