Red means melee. Green is ranged. Blue means magic.

1) Archer
She can be used as normal or can be used to finish enemies when they are moved to back row to survive.
As her name already has told, she is an archer and she’s able to hit every member in enemy formation. This make her a useful spike build character, a not bad stun build mercenary so a good character.
His skills are: Silence, Deadly Shot.
-Well, Silence is very useful because you can block enemies magic ( as Exorcist do) and even damage a little. All the three rows are available to be hit.
-With Deadly Shot you do a extra damage hit to an enemy but then you will lose a lot of Ap ( i usually go to -500). If you are planning to use Archer as main,this skill is not recommended.
Can be taken at level 1. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Archer

Swordsman
Well, he’s one of the most used character on low levels because of his very high def and vit. He’s always put in front row and one of the best tank you can have.
From what you have already understood from his name he uses a sword and a shield, he’s able to hit only 1 enemy on front row only.
His main skills are:
Flame Sword: It does a very nice amount of damage.
Dark Seed: this one is used very few times but if combined with hex of darkness it comes up Hell Flame. Hell Flame take off a lot of hp every round to the hit enemy.
Can be taken at level 1. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Swordsman

Spearman
Spearman is mainly used for Ap drain but he is also a decent stun build character.
Ap (” Action Points”) are needed to do any action in a battle, so many people put 3 spears in their formation to stop enemy lines from moving.
Ok, first of all spearman hits 2 characters, the first harder, the second lower.
His main skills are:
– Ligthining Strike: this one hits two characters and drain enemies Ap, one of the most used skills.
– Deadly Strike: Extra damage but lose many rounds for a huge ap drain, to avoid if you’re main is spearman.

If you are planning to use him as main character, you should take almost 1 or 2 other to make the formation works better. He can be put in the first row because he’s a nice tank, not the best, but being in first row shouldn’t give so many problems.

Spearman

Gunner
Well, gunner hits 3 enemies in a line, decreasing its damage while hitting.
She uses on off hand bullets.
Used nearly always in stun build like or sometime in a seth will formation

Her main skills are:
-With Deadly Shot you do a extra damage hit to an enemy but then you will lose a lot of Ap ( i usually go to -500). If you are planning to use Archer as main,this skill is not recommended.
-Wild Shot: Does enough damage to the first two enemies in a line.
Can be taken at level 1. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade her.

Gunner

Shaman
Used to heal the team and, almost what i think, should be always used and obviously put in last row.
Main skills:
-Heal: she heal a row ( after updating him at level 20) for a nice amount of hp.
-Hex Of Darkness: she hits two enemies in a line ( after updating at level 20) and those enemies keep losing life every round.
-Brutal Will: it affects one of you’re row (after level 20 upgrade) and those mercenaries will have attack, hp bonuses but will attack automatically.
-Noble Sacrifice: the Shaman sacrifice herself and heal the whole team, this skill makes the Shaman sometimes preferred by Oracle.
Can be taken at level 10 ( not sure.. surely not after level 10). Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade her.

Shaman

Monk
One of the most used character ( sometimes even two Monk in same formation).
He should be put in last row and his Main Skills are:
– Holy Guard: one of the most used skills, it affect the whole row ( after level 20 upgrade) and on the affected row the magic can’t be used. ( it also give them some hp every round, it lasts for 3 rounds).
– Awakening: another very nice skill, it affect a whole row ( after level 20 upgrade) and the affected row will gain some hp and the combo counter will go to 0.
– Protect: this passive skill keep healing all turns you’re main character.
– Shield Of Protect: this is an active way of protect, it heals you’re main and, i do not remember exactly, it should also give him some defensive bonuses…. Sorry, will soon gain information about it.
Usually the most leveled skills are Awakening and Protect/Shield Of Protection.
Can be taken at level 18. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Monk

Viking
He hits a whole row with his attack and is used enough because of his skill: after level 20 upgrade, the whole enemy row hit will be frozen for 3 round and will also lose some hp when hit. His problem is the low defensive magic that makes him a bad tank anyway when he got upgraded at level 100 to Northern Viking he’s defense get nice enough, he has also got Deadly Strike skill.
Anwyay he’s a nice character to put in the 2nd row, so he’s able to stop a whole enemy row ( if the enemy has got a Monk, he should be combined with Archer Silence or Exorcist Mana Seal).
Can be taken at level 20. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Oo Oo Oo He can hit one of the first row but the whole row lose life

Artillerist
Used together with the gunner in stun build.
He hits enemies in an area, he uses cannonballs on off hand so he is really good to keep stun pressure on enemy formation.
His main skill is deep insight that low defense and vitality of the line hit by the magic. He has also got Deadly Shot.
He’s usually put in 2nd or 3rd row and he’s a very good stun character. Will be replaced at level 80 by cannoneer.
Can be taken at level 20. Ashen crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Artillerist

B.Master
She’s a nice tank and she hit a whole row with normal attack as Viking.
She has got only 1 skill with which she hits the whole enemy team.
She can get ” bullets” for his skills that are capture animals like ” Captured Fire Bear”.
Very nice character, used often even at high levels for her being a good AoE and tank mercenary.
Her quest is the first long mercenary quest you will get, so get raedy or buy her =)
Can be taken at level 44. Giant crystal/jewel are used to upgrade her.

B.Master

Witch
She is an AoE ( Area Of Effect) character.
She’s main skill is Meteor Strike. This skill hits the whole row dealing very high damage.
She has also got some mana regaining and mana blocking skills.
Used a lot in AoE formations.
Anwyay another thing to know is that she flies and this made her able to avoid cannon hits and normal melee attacks so this make her usually put in middle of formation to avoid cannon hits on whole formation but even sometimes on front row.

Witch

Exorcist
He’s a bad tank being a swordsman, he has got 3 main skills:
Mana Seal: block one enemy row by using magic for one round
Mana Burn: consume enemy mana of one row
Speed Cast: one of you’re row gain Ap
Very nice character that should be put on 2nd or 3rd line so he can survive and let you’re team gain Ap or to stop enemy from using magic.
Can be taken at level 57. Giant crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Exorcist

Prophet
She’s a ranged character ( Archer ) and her main skills are:
Concentrate: passive ability that make melee characters gain hp
Then there are three debuffing skills against axes, spears and swords.
Very useful character if used in melee build. Sometimes you will find in a tri-archers build.. Personally I found it a very nice build..
Can be taken at level 70. Phoenix crystal/jewel are used to upgrade him.

Prophet

Lady Knight
A better version of swordsman.
She’s the best tank and his only skill is: Light Slash with which she damage two enemies in a line dealing a lot of damage.
Used very often at high level on front row to cover a weak line because she’s usually the last character to be hit on front line because it’s very hard to take her down. Also she is often taken because she is cheap enough.
Available at level 95.

Lady Knight

Spartan
Spartan warriors have high attack power and vitality. They use spears and shields together in combat.
Their fearsome Warcry spell can stop the enemy for several turns.
The Spartan’s raw attack power is even more powerful than Seth’s Will magic, and so you can rely on them in almost any battle.”
In order to scout Spartans, you must obtain a [Colorful Soul Stone]×1 from an independent mercenary and [Old Spartan’s Shield]×1 from the Tower of Babel. You can start the recruitment quest from the Spartan Hero in eastern Athens.
One of the most costful mercenaries to get.. You’ll need Billions to upgrade him so it’s better a worse mercenary well upgraded than him, badly upgraded.

Spartan

Oracle
A better version of Shaman.
Skills: Healing, Vortex ( damage enemy team), Seth Will ( same as Brutal Will, just better)
Nearly always exchanged with Shaman. Only skill Shaman has better is Noble Sacrifice.
Usually put on 2nd or 3rd line and if you will find an Oracle plus a mid-line full of Gunners/ Inventors/ Cannoneers/ Jannissary, well you will have to face a Seth’s will build.. That gives a lot of damage.
Available at level 76

Oracle

Pirate
She’s like a swordsman but her def and vit are lower instead her damage is very high. She should have 1 poision skill and 1 high damage skill similar to deadly strike but that consume less Ap
One of the best spike mercenary. Do not put her in front row because her tanking ability is low.
Only mercenary that has two swords.
Available at level 100

Pirate

Cannoneer
Better version of Artillerist
Usually exchanged with Artillerist. Great in stun builds.
Uses cannons and cannonballs.
He’s used to hit or the enemy monk to stop him from awaken his teammates or in the main of enemy formation so you can hit a very high number of enemies.
Skill: Smoke Bomb ( debuffer)
Available at level 87

Cannoneer

Janissary
They can disrupt the enemies battle formation with higher attack power than Gunners and Inventors and their high health allows them to endure more attacks.
Janissaries can use powerful Shooting Stance magic to cause the enemies severe damage in the following turn.
Great in stun build and also very good in Seth’s Will ones because their very high attack power.
Available at level 96

Janissary

Princess
She’s a magic mercenary type which main ability is to decrease enemy ranged characters damage and one that heals your ranged one… Most of the players do not use her but anyway if you are planning to have a ranged formation it could help you alot.

Princess

Inventor
Also used to keep stun pressure. Nice character often used at high levels. Wear gun and bullets.
You will have often to face him. He’s always ( or almost i have never seen him on other positions) on 2nd row ( or 3rd).
He can summon 4 types of machines: Auto-loot Bot at level 1 with level 1 summon, Small Catapult at level 20 with level 5 summon, Catapult at level 50 with level10 summon and Ballista at level 80 with level 60 summon.

Inventor

Elementalist
Nice character used against enemy melee mercenaries.
She’s a magic character like Monk but his main skill is: Freezing Atmosphere that weaken enemy melee character types and block enemy magic power.

Remember that if you level too much a skill ( As putting SoP at 60) you may be without mana soon and using in a battle mana potions is not so pratical.
Whenever you can, ALWAYS upgrade your mercenary because even if you will change it having him more powerful for some time will help alot. Do not be mean =)

All skills i put are for Mercenaries not for Main so skills like break down i left them out. Also level 100 skills ( only arrow cascade) are left out because if you reached level 100 with the mercenary you do not need any guide ^^

2) Well, now I will put some basic ( and sometimes obvious ) information on how to use mercenaries:
1) Ranged mercenaries ( Archer, Prophet, Gunner, Artillerist….) are usually put on 2nd or 3rd row for they low physical defense but some people also put their Archer Main in the first line.
2) Melee mercenaries ( Swordsman, Lady Knight…..) should be put on 1st line as tank (= high def and vit). But sometimes mercenaries like Exorcist, which has a low physical/magical defense and to save him from being blocked from using his great magic is usually put on 2nd or even 3rd row.
3) Magic mercenaries ( Oracle, Monk, Shaman……) should be always put in on the 2nd or 3rd row because of their low defense but even here some mercenaries, like Witch, is sometimes put on front row.
4) Then, as you have seen, nearly all mercenaries could be put in a lot of positions so just decide what you want, and try it. It may work greatly, may work good, may not work… Just try, this is another funny part of the game =)

3) Try, even from the beginning, to decide what type of build you are going to have. Here are some examples:
Stun build: Mainly formed by Gunner and Artillerist; its object is to stun the highest number of enemy mercenaries possible. This is possible by column hitting of Gunner/Jannissary, area hit of Artillerist/Cannoneer. Also Spears are decent and Axes can stun first row.
AoE build: Mainly formed by characters that are able to hit many enemies contemporaneally like B.Master, Witch and similar.
Spike build: Mainly formed by mercenaries which deal a high damage to a single enemy mercenary like Pirate and Archers which can hit enemies in whatever position.
DoT build: It’s object is to deal to the highest possible number of enemies the highest damage possible over time ( DoT = Damage over Time). So the main is often a Musician.

There are alot more build and even you’re own customized build ( that would be the best thing ^^).
P.s. Usually all build have anyway some tanks in the front line and a shaman/monk on last.

4) Let’s add something about the decision of which main you can take.
Do you like to be able to hit whoever of the enemy formation? Archer makes for you.
Do you like to be hit and lose few hp and when hit does a lot of damage? Swordsman makes for you.
Do you like to freeze enemies and hit more then one? Axe makes for you. P.s. Actually Axe is the worst main probably you can take so i warn you that is better to choose someone else.
Do you like to have great AoE skills to fight enemies? Staff makes for you.
Do you like to stop enemies from moving? Spearman/Gunner makes for you.
Do you like to hit a very high number of enemies and so stunning even more? Artillerist makes for you.
Do you like to debuff enemies? Musician makes for you.
Obviously this is just a summary of the choosable mercenaries as main ^^

5) There are many ways to gain new mercenaries:
1) Basic mercenaries can be bought from the NPC at you’re starting city. Mercenaries available: Swordsman, Spearman, Gunner, Archer, Shaman,
2) Mid-Low mercenaries level can be taken by finding them wandering and paying them. Price is low enough ( Archer 20.000 gold, Monk nearly 40.000). Mercenaries available: Swordsman, Spearman, Gunner, Archer, Shaman, Monk, Artillerist, Viking.
3) Do the quest to gain the item that summon the mercenary directly in you’re team. All mercenaries starting by B.Master ( Monk included).
4) Easiest but not cheapest is to buy the summoning mercenary item ^^
