Yu-Gi-Oh! Odd Eyes Magicians Guide
Yu-Gi-Oh! Odd Eyes Magicians Guide by CrogenitorMario
What is this deck?
Odd-Eyes Magicians (or just OEM) is the signature deck of the main protagonist of Arc-V, Yuya (we don’t talk about performapals). They are a deck focused on Pendulum Summoning and bringing out their huge boss monsters. Here, I’ll be detailing how to build them properly and how to use them.
The OEM Monsters
The Good
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
Level 7, Dark, Dragon, Scale 4; 2500/2000
Pendulum Effect: You can reduce the battle damage you take from a battle involving a Pendulum Monster you control to 0. During your End Phase: You can destroy this card, and if you do, add 1 Pendulum Monster with 1500 or less ATK from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each Pendulum Effect of “Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon” once per turn.
Monster Effect: If this card battles an opponent’s monster, any battle damage this card inflicts to your opponent is doubled.
The main boss of the deck. As a monster, he’s a 2500/2000 beater that can help with OTKs. As a scale, while he has a situational effect to prevent battle damage, his main effect can search almost any of our monsters.
- Scale 4, searches Pendulums with less than 1500 ATK by killing itself
- Helps OTK with 2500 ATK and effect
- Run 3
Insight Magician
Level 4, Light, Spellcaster, Scale 5; 1500/1500
Pendulum Effect: If you have a “Magician” or “Performapal” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can destroy this card, and if you do, choose 1 “Magician” Pendulum Monster from your Deck and place it in your Pendulum Zone, except “Insight Magician”.
Monster Effect: You can discard this card, then target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone whose current Pendulum Scale is different from its original value; its Pendulum Scale becomes its original value until the end of this turn.
Insight is ridiculous. By just being in a Pendulum Zone, he sets any Magician from the deck, and kills himself to be used for Rank 4. He makes the deck incredibly consistent.
- Replaces himself with any Magician
- Run 3
Dragonpit Magician
Level 7, Water, Spellcaster, Scale 8; 900/2700
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can discard 1 Pendulum Monster, then target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy it.
Dragonpit is rather unimpressive as a monster; he has low stats and no effect. However, what makes him so good is his level and his scale; on top of easily making Rank 7 plays, he is our only Scale 8 with no drawbacks. He can also get rid of a Spell/Trap, but it won’t be used much since we don’t want to get our Pendulums in grave (Except Noble Dragon, of course)
- Scale 8, destroys a Spell/Trap by discarding a Pendulum
- Run 3
Peasant Dragon Magician
Level 6, Wind, Spellcaster, Scale 2; 2100/1400
Pendulum Effect: If you have a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can add 1 face-up “Magician” or “Odd-Eyes” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand, except “Peasant Dragon Magician”. You can only use this effect of “Peasant Dragon Magician” once per turn.
Monster Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 “Magician” Pendulum Monster or 1 “Odd-Eyes” monster in your Graveyard, except “Peasant Dragon Magician”; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Peasant Dragon Magician” once per turn.
Peasant Dragon is the best low-scale monster the deck has. With his Pendulum effect, he can start many combos; for example, he can get Noble Dragon back to your hand to Synchro, or get Insight back to restart your scales with Swaying Gaze. He can also bring our OEM monsters back from the Graveyard, which is especially useful after you use them to Xyz.
- Scale 2, returns an OEM monster from the Extra to the hand
- Gets OEM monsters back from the grave
- Run 2-3
The Average
Noble Dragon Magician
Level 3, Fire, Tuner, Spellcaster, Scale 5; 700/1400
Pendulum Effect: If you do not have a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone, destroy this card.
Monster Effect: If this card is in your hand or Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 7 or higher “Odd-Eyes” monster you control; reduce its Level by 3, and if you do, Special Summon this card. Cannot be used as a Synchro Material, except for the Synchro Summon of a Dragon-Type monster. If this card is used for a Synchro Summon, and the other Synchro Material(s) is not an “Odd-Eyes” monster, place this card on the bottom of the Deck.
Noble Dragon is our Tuner monster. While she has a lot of limitations, they’re easy to work around. She is also the preferred card for anything that requires discarding. Just don’t use her as a scale.
- Tuner monster, can revive/SS from hand when an Odd-Eyes is on the field
- Run 1-2
Antithesis Magician
Level 7, Dark, Spellcaster, Scale 3; 2500/500
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: You can target 1 Xyz Monster you control; this turn, for an Xyz Summon, it can be treated as a Material with a Level equal to its Rank.
Monster Effect: Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can target 1 LIGHT monster on the field; negate its effects until the end of this turn.
His Pendulum effect is purely to bring out OERD; as a monster, he is nothing but a beatstick. Scale 3 means he can’t summon Eccentric, sadly.
- Scale 3, used to summon OERD
- Beatstick that negates Light monsters
- Run 1-2
Dragonvein Magician
Level 4, Earth, Spellcaster, Scale 1; 1800/900
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Magician” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can discard 1 Pendulum Monster, then target 1 face-up monster on the field; destroy it.
Another normal monster, he is sadly outclassed by Peasant. However, he is still useful to stop Djinn lock and for Rank 4 plays.
- Scale 1, destroys a monster by discarding a Magician
- Run 1
The Bad
Oversight Magician
Level 7, Light, Spellcaster, Scale 2; 2000/2500
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn: You can reveal 1 Pendulum Monster from your hand, then target 1 “Magician” card in your Pendulum Zone; its Pendulum Scale becomes the revealed monster’s Pendulum Scale, until the end of this turn.
Monster Effect: “Magician” Pendulum Monsters you control cannot be destroyed by an opponent’s card effects during the turn this card was Pendulum Summoned, as long as this card remains face-up on the field.
His Pendulum effect isn’t really useful, and you won’t be keeping too many Magicians on the field anyway. At least he’s Level 7 and has nice stats.
- Scale 2, can change scales of Magicians
- Protects Magician monsters for a turn
- Run 0-1
Timegazer Magician
Level 3, Dark, Spellcaster, Scale 8; 1200/600
Pendulum Effect: You must control no monsters to activate this card. If a Pendulum Monster you control attacks or is attacked, your opponent cannot activate Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. Unless you have a “Magician” card or “Odd-Eyes” card in your other Pendulum Zone, this card’s Pendulum Scale becomes 4.
Monster Effect: Each turn, the first card(s) in your Pendulum Zone that would be destroyed by an opponent’s card effect, is not destroyed.
Horrible to draw. Useless as a monster. Insight can set him while you have a field. His only use is to stop Trap cards. Meh.
- Scale 8, stops Traps during the Damage Step
- Run 0-1
The Ugly
Stargazer Magician
Synthesis Magician
Not even worth typing for. Utterly useless. I pity their poor souls.
Other Monsters
Performapal Skullcrobat Joker
Level 4, Dark, Spellcaster, Scale 8; 1800/100
Pendulum Effect: You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except “Performapal” monsters, “Magician” Pendulum Monsters, and “Odd-Eyes” monsters. This effect cannot be negated.
Monster Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 “Performapal” monster, 1 “Magician” Pendulum Monster, or 1 “Odd-Eyes” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Performapal Skullcrobat Joker”.
Stratos became a Performapal. Great. He is an emergency Scale 8, and can search almost any OEM monster when Normal Summoned. He’s awesome.
- Scale 8, limits Pendulum summons
- Searches any OEM monster on Normal Summon
- Run 3
Eccentric Archfiend
Level 3, Light, Fiend, Scale 7; 800/1000
Pendulum Effect: You can target 1 other Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy both this card and that target. You can only use this effect of “Eccentric Archfiend” once per turn.
Monster Effect: You can Tribute this card, then target 1 monster on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of “Eccentric Archfiend” once per turn.
It’s MST and a recycling Exiled Force in one card. What else to say? Her scale sucks, but you won’t be using her to Pendulum anyway.
- Scale 7, destroys a Spell/Trap and herself
- Tributes herself to destroy a monster
- Run 2-3
Dragoknight Luster Pendulum
Level 4, Light, Dragon, Scale 5; 1850/0
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can destroy that card, and if you do, add 1 card with the same name as the destroyed card from your Deck to your hand.
Monster Effect: Cannot be used as a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Material for a Summon, except for the Summon of a “Dragoknight” monster.
Luster is a beatstick, brings out Ignister Prominence, and searches duplicates. He’s great.
- Scale 5, gets another copy of the other scale
- Brings out Ignister Prominence
- Run 0-3
Mist Valley Apex Avian
Level 7, Wind, Winged Beast; 2700/2000
When an effect is activated, you can select 1 face-up “Mist Valley” card you control. Return that “Mist Valley” card to its owner’s hand, negate the effect’s activation, and destroy the card whose effect was activated.
While he isn’t a Pendulum, Apex is great in this deck. He negates everything and comes back next turn. Oh, and he’s Level 7. Best Bird.
- Negates an effect by bouncing himself
- Run 0-2
Spells/Traps
Sky Arc
“Magician”, “Performapal”, and “Odd-Eyes” cards in your Pendulum Zones cannot be targeted by an opponent’s card effects. You can target 1 other face-up card you control; destroy it, and if you do, add 1 “Odd-Eyes” card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Sky Arc” once per turn.
Not only does it prevent your scales from being MST’d, it can also search Odd-Eyes every turn in exchange for another card on the field. Incredible.
- Run 3
Pendulum Call
If you did not activate the Pendulum Effect of a “Magician” Pendulum Monster this turn: Discard 1 card; add 2 “Magician” Pendulum Monsters with different names from your Deck to your hand, also “Magician” cards in your Pendulum Zones cannot be destroyed by card effects until the end of your opponent’s next turn. You can only activate 1 “Pendulum Call” per turn.
Searches any 2 Magicians by discarding a card. Its effect sadly prevents you from using Insight that turn, but that would be ridiculous anyway.
- Run 3
Odd-Eyes Fusion
Fusion Summon 1 Dragon-Type Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or your side of the field as Fusion Materials. If your opponent controls 2 or more monsters and you control no monsters, you can also use up to 2 “Odd-Eyes” monsters in your Extra Deck as Fusion Materials. You can only activate 1 “Odd-Eyes Fusion” per turn.
Summons Vortex. Nuff said. He can also use Odd-Eyes monsters in the Extra in a pinch.
- Run 1-2
Swaying Gaze
Destroy as many cards in the Pendulum Zones as possible, then apply these effects and resolve in sequence, depending on the number of cards destroyed. ● 1 or more: Inflict 500 damage to your opponent. ● 2 or more: You can add 1 Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your hand. ● 3 or more: You can banish 1 card on the field. ● 4: You can add 1 “Swaying Gaze” from your Deck to your hand.
Incredible against other Pendulum decks, and useful for filling the Extra Deck otherwise.
- Run 0-3
Echo Oscillation
You can target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone; destroy it, then draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of “Echo Oscillation” once per turn.
Exchange a Pendulum for a draw. Pretty straightforward.
- Run 0-3
Extra Deck
Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon
Level 7, Wind, Dragon; 2500/3000
1 “Odd-Eyes” monster + 1 Pendulum Monster
When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 face-up Attack Position monster your opponent controls; return it to the hand. During either player’s turn, when another monster’s effect, or a Spell/Trap Card, is activated: You can shuffle 1 face-up Pendulum Monster in your Extra Deck into the Deck, and if you do, negate the activation, and if you do that, destroy it. You can only use each effect of “Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon” once per turn.
Bounces a monster on summon, and acts as our Infinity afterwards. Simply incredible and our best boss monster.
- Run 2
Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon
Rank 7, Water, Dragon; 2800/2500
2 Level 7 monsters
When any player’s monster declares an attack: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the attack, then you can Special Summon 1 “Odd-Eyes” monster from your hand or Graveyard. If this Xyz Summoned card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 “Odd-Eyes” monster from your Extra Deck, except “Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon”. You can only use each effect of “Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon” once per turn.
Negates an attack and summons or revives an Odd-Eyes. It can even revive the Odd-Eyes you just detached. When it dies, it replaces itself with another Odd-Eyes. Like Vortex up here. The other great boss monster.
- Run 2
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon
Level 7, Fire, Dragon; 2500/2000
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone; Special Summon it, but this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of “Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon” once per turn. Your opponent cannot activate monster effects during the Battle Phase.
It can be used for Rank 7 plays, and can be useful by itself on situation.
- Run 1
Explosive Dragoknight Ignister Prominence
Level 8, Fire, Dragon; 2850/0
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Pendulum Monsters
Once per turn: You can target 1 Pendulum Monster on the field or 1 card in either player’s Pendulum Zone; destroy it, and if you do, shuffle 1 card on the field into the Deck. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 “Dragoknight” monster from your Deck in Defense Position, but it cannot be used as a Synchro Material.
Spins a card in exchange for a Pendulum. Can summon Luster, which can be used for the first effect. He’s pretty good.
- Run 0-2
Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon
His effect is too long, and I’ve hit the 15000 letter cap ._.
- He’s overkill
- Run 1
Hope you enjoyed reading my guide!
