Keep Portland Weird
I really love Portland and Seattle. They’re the most underrated cities, as compared to L.A or NYC. Portland’s food is the best I’ve had. They have this entire area dedicated to food trucks. *swoons*
The number one thing you need to try if you’re into Asian food is
- Khao Man Gai
Chicken and rice sound simple but my friends said that it is even better than Singapore’s national dish, chicken rice!
How amazing must that be right?
Address: 1003 SW Alder St. Portland, OR 97205
- The Grilled Cheese Grill
I absolutely adore grilled cheese. There’s no other sandwich that can compare. However, it’s a difficult dish to master. Sure, you can get the ordinary grilled cheese.
But this grilled cheese grill makes grilled cheese that’s out of this world! I can say for sure that this is the best I’ve ever eaten. Even their homemade chips were amazing. Definitely add that bacon with your grilled cheese. It will only get better.
Address: same area as Khao Man Gai, just look out for the red food truck
- Voodoo Doughnuts
When you’re in Portland and you don’t eat voodoo doughtnuts, you’re obviously not experiencing the city.
Order the Voodoo Doughnut, it is a delicious jelly doughnut. Or the official city doughnut Portland Crème, kicks Boston’s keister. Definitely get the maple bacon as well. Oh what the hell, order all 3 just like what we did!
Address: 22 SW 3rd Ave., Portland, OR 97204; or 1501 NE Davis St., Portland, OR 97232
Other recommended food trucks include pancetta and argula sandwich at People’s Pig (501-599 SW 9th Ave Portland, OR 97205), breaded pork loin at Tabor (433 SW Stark St, Portland) and coffee at 808 grinds. (Southwest Washington Street & Southwest 9th Avenue Portland, OR 97205)
Where to sightsee?
I’ll definitely recommend the Rose Garden!
There’s so many different types of roses here that you’ll be so excited to capture all the different flowers in your camera/phones!
Address: 850 SW Rose Garden Way Portland, OR 97201
But other than sightseeing, do go to the premium outlets! Portland is tax free and this will be probably be one of the rare cities in US that does not tax people. Go crazy with shopping!
Address: Woodburn Premium outlets 1001 N Arney Road Woodburn, OR 97071
Remember to keep this amazing city, Portland, weird!
