Destiny Earning Reputation Guide

Destiny Earning Reputation Guide by Dom-800

Here’s my first contribution to this community; I hope it can be useful to somebody! I first started gathering this information for myself. But since it took quite a bit of research, I figured other people might also appreciate it.. so here it is.

When looking for guides on how to level up your reputation with any given group or faction, people usually reply to simply do strikes / weekly / Nightfall / bounties / crucible etc.. That’s all fine and good but I wanted to be able to CALCULATE how much I needed to do!

(I will eventually add to this guide all the relevant info on Vanguard & Crucible MARKS, but for now, it’s for REPUTATION only).

First number is always the amount of reputation earned directly, from any given activity.

The second number (in parenthesis) is the amount of reputation earned, including the 25% Nightfall buff.

First, understanding class items; Warlocks Bond, Hunters Cape, Titans Sash

For the purpose of this guide, I’ll separate all available class items in three categories.

“PVE TYPE”

  • Any Class item bought (or received) from the Vanguard
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from the Speaker
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Eris Morn
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Queen’s Wrath
  • Any Class item found doing any PVE activities (Raid, Nightfall, Weekly, etc)

“PVP TYPE”

  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Crucible
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Iron Banner

“FACTION TYPE”

  • Any Class item bought (or received) from New Monarchy
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Dead Orbit
  • Any Class item bought (or received) from Future War Cult

So here it is, absolutely EVERY way for you to gain REPUTATION

Vanguard REPUTATION

Can ONLY be earned by doing PVE activities while wearing a PVE or PVP TYPE class item.

VANGUARD activities, done while wearing a FACTION TYPE class item, will ONLY give reputation to that Faction.

ActivitiesReputation
– Nightfall (lvl 30)= 500
– Weekly heroic (lvl 30)= 400 (500)
– Weekly heroic (lvl 28)= 250 (312)
– Weekly heroic (lvl 26)= 150 (187)

Nightfall

You can gain reputation only once per week, per character

Weekly Heroic

You can gain reputation only once per week, per character, per difficulty

Doing the mission at difficulty lvl 26, you will gain 150 (187)

In the same week, doing difficulty lvl 28, will give you only another 100 (125) for the same total as if you had done the difficulty lvl 28 in the first place [which is 250 (312)].

Same principle applies if doing difficulty lvl 26, then lvl 28, then lvl 30. Your total gain would be 400 (500)

ActivitiesReputation
– Roc Strike (lvl 26)= 25 (31)
– Tiger Strike (lvl 24)= 25 (31)
– Wolf Strike (lvl 22)= 14 (17)

Faction REPUTATION

Earned by doing ANY PVE or PVP activities (or turning in bounties) while wearing a FACTION class item.

In those instances, ALL reputation gained is simply redirected.

(example: you turn in a Vanguard bounty worth 100rep while wearing a New Monarchy class item. Those 100rep are applied to your New Monarchy lvl ONLY. Your Vanguard lvl will receive 0 rep. The only exception is Iron Banner, which is explained below.)

Iron Banner REPUTATION

IRON BANNER is special, it does everything differently.

The Nightfall buff does not apply to Iron Banner activities.

  • While wearing a PVE or CRUCIBLE class item, Iron Banner will give reputation to BOTH Iron Banner & Crucible.
  • While wearing a FACTION class item, Iron Banner will give reputation to BOTH Iron Banner & that Faction.

If you buy them, Iron Banner Class item, Emblem and Shader all give a stacking buff of 10% each.

  • If you wear 1 of these 3, you get an additional 10% reputation buff.
  • If you wear 2 of these 3, you get an additional 22% reputation buff.
  • If you wear 3 of these 3, you get an additional 33% reputation buff.

You can also buy a consumable (“TEMPERED BUFF”) from lord Saladin, which will provide a 12-hour buff to your Iron Banner reputation.

– Friday40% buff

  • Iron Banner defeat = 1 Iron Medallion

You can stack up to 5 “defeat” medallions, worth 40 rep each. They will be redeemed after your next victory

An Iron Banner defeat, while wearing FACTION class item, will yield 10rep to that FACTION.

An Iron Banner defeat, while wearing CRUCIBLE class item, will yield 10rep to CRUCIBLE.

The Nightfall buff does not apply to Queen’s Wrath bounties.
