Legendary pokemon are one-time, very rare pokemon within the pokemon games. You can only catch each of these pokemon once within each game. However, if you accidentally knock it out, you can rematch the Elite 4 and get a second chance at catching it.

Version Exclusives:

Pre-Elite 4:

Latias/Latios is added to your party during the story. Steven will take you to Southern Island where Latias (Alpha Sapphire) or Latios (Omega Ruby) will be added to your team.

Groudon/Kyogre can be caught during the story. The player will go to the Cave of Origin to stop the Primal Pokemon and Groudon (Omega Ruby) or Kyogre (Alpha Sapphire) will be available to catch.

Dialga/Palkia can be caught any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute. With the three Lake Guardians (Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf) in your party, fly to the portal above Dewford Town. Fly into it and Dialga (Alpha Sapphire) or Palkia (Omega Ruby) will be available to catch.

Tornadus/Thundurus can be caught any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute. With Castform in your party, use the Eon Flute to fly to the cloud above Fortree City. Fly into it and Tornadus (Omega Ruby) or Thundurus (Alpha Sapphire) will be available to catch.

Reshiram/Zekrom can be caught any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute. With any level 100 pokemon in your party, fly to Fabled Cave (near Mauville City). Reshiram (Omega Ruby) or Zekrom (Alpha Sapphire) will be available to catch.

Post-Elite 4:

Lugia/Ho-Oh are only available Post-Elite 4. After beating the Elite 4, go to Sea Mauville and find the Scanner. Bring the Scanner to Captain Stern in Slateport City and he will give you the Clear Bell (Omega Ruby) or the Tidal Bell (Alpha Sapphire). Take the bell to Sea Mauville and Lugia (Alpha Sapphire) or Ho-Oh (Omega Ruby) will be available to catch.

Legendary Trios:

Raikou, Entei, and Suicune are available any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute and has caught Lugia/Ho-Oh. With Lugia/Ho-Oh and one other legendary pokemon in your party, fly to Trackless Path (near Rustboro City). Raikou, Entei, and Suicune will be available to catch here depending on what time it is.

Raikou – XX:01-XX:20

Entei – XX:21-XX:40

Suicune – XX:41-XX:00

Regirock, Regice and Registeel can be unlocked after certain conditions are met. The player must have a Relicanth in the 1st slot of your party and a Wailord in the 6th slot of your party, as well as pokemon who know dig and dive. Fly to Route 134 and take the correct currents (stay near the bottom) to an area where you can dive. Use dive and swim to the braille inscriptions on the wall. Use dive again and read the braille in Sealed Chamber. Use dig and read the last braille inscription. Three earthquakes will open up the three chamber where you can find the Regis.

Regirock – Go to the Desert Ruins (on Route 111). Read the braille and take two steps down and two steps to the right and use strength. Regirock will be in the cave.

Regice – Go to the Island Cave (on Route 105). Read the braille and sit for two minutes. Regice will be in the cave.

Registeel – Go to the Ancient Tomb (on Route 120). Read the braille and use fly in the center of the room. Registeel will be in the cave.

Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf can be caught any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute. Fly to the Nameless Cavern (near Sootopolis City) with three pokemon with max happiness in your party. Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf will be available to catch depending on the time.

Uxie – 20:00-20:59

Mesprit – 21:00-03:59

Azelf – 04:00-19:59

Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion can be caught any time after the player obtains the Eon Flute. Fly to Pathless Plain (near Pacifidlog Town) with three pokemon with max E.V.’s in your party. Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion will be available to catch depending on the day.

Cobalion – Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday

Terrakion – Tuesday and Saturday

Virizion – Monday and Thursday

Other Legendaries:

Rayquaza is available to be caught during the Delta Episode on the top of Sky Pillar.

Deoxys is available to be caught during the Delta Episode in space.

Regigigas is available to catch when certain conditions are met. With Regirock, Regice, and Registeel in your party (Regice must be nicknamed and be holding a CasteliaCone, Snowball, or NeverMelt Ice), go to Island Cave. Regigigas will be in the cave.

Heatran is available to catch after beating the Elite 4. It will be at the bottom of Scorched Slab.

Giratina is available to catch when the player has the Eon Flute. Fly to the portal above Dewford Town with Dialga and Palkia in your party to encounter Giratina.

Cresselia is available to catch as soon as the Eon Flute is obtained. Cresselia is available at Crescent Isle, which can be unlocked by connecting to the internet and using the PSS.

Landorus is available to catch after the Eon Flute is obtained. With Tornadus and Thundurus in your party, fly to the storm cloud above Fortree City and Landorus will be available to catch.

Kyurem is available as soon as the player gets the Eon Flute. With Reshiram and Zekrom in your party, fly to Gnarled Den (near Fallarbor Town) and Kyurem will be available to catch.

Event Pokemon:

Latias/Latios can be caught using the Eon Ticket to go to Southern Island. Latias (Omega Ruby) or Latios (Alpha Sapphire) is waiting to be caught on Southern Island.

Diancie can be transferred from X and Y to get the Diancite.
