Vanguard Bounties

Planet-Specific

BountyDescriptionRep/XPNotes
Relic Harvest – CosmodromeCollect 200 Sensor Mites in Cosmodrome.50/2500Best place to collect these imo is probably the Rocketyard or the Divide. Since the two are connected you can basically just go back and forth until you’ve completed it. If you want, though, you can use the tip at Exalted Hive below to get 20 per major.
Relic Harvest – MoonCollect 200 Impact Shards on the Moon.50/2500Run through the Hellmouth, Shrine, and/or do a few Moon missions for quick completion. If you have the checkpoint available, I suggest the “We’ve Woken The Hive” strategy (see Overcharge bounty below ‘Everything Else’).
Relic Harvest – VenusCollect 200 Pumice Threads on Venus.50/2500If you take the left trail from the spawn to the Ember Caves, there ought to be this area where a Captain appears. Circle around that area several times, taking out Fallen as you go and you should get a bunch of Threads as well as some Spirit Bloom if you look hard enough.
Relic Harvest – MarsCollect 200 Olympus Tears on Mars.50/2500Again, not many enemies nearby at first. If you drive a bit northwest (I’m taking liberties here) from the spawn point, you’ll run into a big area with Vex and Cabal fighting. Occasionally they’ll get into a larger battle with tons of enemies. Either way, it’s a good place to complete this.
Patrol CosmodromeComplete 6 Patrol missions in the Cosmodrome.50/2500N/A (See below hints.)
Patrol The MoonComplete 6 Patrol missions on the Moon.50/2500N/A (See below hints.)
Patrol VenusComplete 6 Patrol missions on Venus.50/2500N/A (See below hints.)
Patrol MarsComplete 6 Patrol missions on Mars.50/2500N/A (See below hints.)

Patrol icon guide
Public event tracker

Hints: For the Patrol missions, take a look at the Public event tracker to see where the next one takes place. Do the patrols in the area (preferably the kill/loot enemies ones) while you’re waiting for the event (and if you have the One For All bounty, it’s like killing two Shanks with one bullet). For the Relic ones, you can complete those at the same time you do missions, strikes, or basically any other bounty.

Majors/Ultras

BountyDescriptionRep/XPNotes
Fallen LeadersKill 10 Fallen Majors or Ultras.100/5000In the Divide, there is a Fallen Vandal major that appears whenever the ship comes in. The Winter’s Run strike has several Fallen Majors as well that are at the final boss. And the Ishtar Cliffs on Venus (take the right-hand path on Patrol) spawn several as well.
Exalted HiveKill 10 Hive Majors or Ultras.100/5000In the Cosmodrome, go to the building left of the spawn point near the beacon. Go downstairs and there will be 3 hive majors (2 Hallowed Acolytes and a Hallowed Knight) that respawn whenever you leave the room for a little while. (Make a circuit around the cave area while you’re waiting. There is usually spinmetal and sometimes a chest that spawns.) With a high enough level, you can easily complete this bounty in just 3-4 minutes or even less.
Vex MindsKill 10 Vex Majors or Ultras.100/5000Winter Run/Archon Priest strikes, Praetorians at the VoG raid, and Citadel section on Venus are good places to find Vex majors. There are also some Axis Harpies on some of the later Venus and Mars missions.
Cabal CommandKill 10 Cabal Majors or Ultras.100/5000Cabal majors are notoriously annoying. I suggest the Cerberus strike, if you have a checkpoint near the last room. Also, if you do the first Mars mission on Heroic, you should be able to complete this no problem. Many other users have suggested the Buried City mission or Rubicon Wastes.

Hints: A lot of times you can just do high-difficulty missions on the related planet (Cabal – Mars, Hive – Moon, etc.) and get these done rather quickly.

Target Missions

Italicized targets are in Strikes.
GC: Gold Chests.
DG: Dead Ghosts.

BountyDescriptionLevelRep/XPNotes
Target: Aksor, Archon PriestDefeat Aksor, Archon Priest in the “Winter’s Run” Strike on Venus.14+50/2500Aksor is the final boss in the strike, so just power your way through. He’s kinda like a bigger, uglier Captain.
Target: Banuk, Ur PrinceDefeat Banuk in the “Sword of Crota” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.7+50/2500Banuk is the first prince that comes out, and as it’s outside, you will not have access to the sword yet. Like all knights, though, his head is the weak point. GC:1, DG:2.
Target: Bracus Tha’aurnDefeat Bracus Tha’aurn in “The Buried City” mission on Mars with the Heroic modifier active.17+100/5000Bracus Tha’aurn is the last boss before you deploy your Ghost to end the mission. GC:2, DG:3.
Target: Divisive MindDefeat the Divisive Mind in “The Black Garden” mission on Mars with the Heroic modifier active.18+100/5000The Divisive Mind is a Hydra-shaped mini-boss, so you don’t really have to complete the whole mission unless you want to. This mission has no GC and 2 DG (the second one of which is in the area right before you fight Divisive Mind, so if you’re worried about continuing the mission to find it, don’t).
Target: Grayliks, Winter BaronDefeat Grayliks in “The Archive” mission on Venus with the Heroic modifier active.8+100/5000GC:0, DG:3. Grayliks is a stronger Captain that appears in the final wave of enemies before the mission is complete.
Target: Merok, Eir PrinceDefeat Merok in the “Sword of Crota” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.7+100/5000Many Guardians agree Sword of Crota is “the coolest mission ever”. GC:1, DG:2. Banuk is the first, Garok the second, Dakoor the third, and Merok is the last prince that comes out.
Target: PhogothDefeat Phogoth, the Untamed in “The Summoning Pits” Strike on the Moon.12+100/5000Ah, this guy. He’s like a big, laser-shooting troll, really. Do note his weak point is on his stomach, not his head. GC:1, DG:0.
Target: Primus Sha’aullDefeat Primus Sha’aull in “The Garden’s Spire” mission on Mars with the Heroic modifier active.16+100/5000GC:1, DG:4. I think there used to be a typo here. I’m glad they’ve fixed it. Primus is the last boss before you get the charged Eye and complete the mission.
Target: Prohibitive MindDefeat the Prohibitive Mind in the “A Rising Tide” mission on Mars with the Heroic modifier active.17+100/5000GC:1, DG:4. (Again.) This guy is an unnecessarily large minotaur. I think. Take him out like every other minotaur. Very carefully.
Target: Sardok, Eye of OryxDefeat Sardok in the “Shrine of Oryx” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.8+100/5000GC:0, DG:1. Sardok is the last boss you face before you destroy the shrine and end the mission.
Target: SekrionDefeat Sekrion, Nexus Mind in the “The Nexus” Strike on Venus.14+100/5000GC:1, DG:1. Sekrion is the last boss you face in the strike. Don’t get too close, like with all bosses.
Target: Sepiks PrimeDefeat Sepiks Prime in “The Devils’ Lair” Strike on Earth.8+100/5000Ah, The Devils’ Lair. My favourite strike, if only because it’s so damn easy. Sepiks Prime (no relation to Optimus) is the last boss, the big purple Servitor at the end. GC:1, DG:1.
Target: Simiks-3Defeat Simiks-3 in “The Archive” mission on Venus with the Heroic modifier active.8+100/5000GC:0, DG:3. And again, it’s everyone’s favourite mission, The Archive, if for no other reason than it feels like Bungie makes us do it every other day. Simiks is the special Servitor that appears in the Hall of Whispers.
Target: Telthor, UnbornDefeat Telthor in the “Chamber of Night” mission on the Moon with the Heroic modifier active.8+100/5000GC:1, DG:1. This mission takes you through the Temple of Crota, but no sword yet, unfortunately. Telthor is the Ogre that is the last boss before you do Ghost stuff and end the mission.
Target: Valus Ta’aurcDefeat Valus Ta’aurc in the “Cerberus Vae III” Strike on Mars.18+100/5000This strike has a motherfucking TANK. What the hell. And this boss? Valus? Isn’t even the tank. I mean it is in the tank, but taking out the tank doesn’t take out the bounty because it escapes somehow. It’s after the tank, at the end of the strike. Watch out for the crazy amount of enemies that spawn as well. Stupid shielded Cabal.. -grumbles-

Hints: I thought about sorting these by planet, but I figured it’d be easier for you to look them up by alphabetical order. Dead Ghost and Gold Chest guides are at the end of the post.

Staying Alive, Staying Alive

BountyDescriptionRep/XPNotes
Body DropperKill 100 enemies without dying.50/2500N/A (See below hints)
UnstoppableEarn 9000 Experience without dying.50/2500This does not include bounty XP, but it does include mission XP. If you think you can do the daily heroic, the hardest difficulty gives you 7k XP at the end, and then you can finish off the rest on patrol or something.
KnuckledusterMelee Kill 30 enemies without dying.50/2500Dregs are your friend. Well, not really. Your fist/knife/deathpalm is your friend. Dregs are just super easy to OHKO.
Walking TallComplete any Strike without dying.100/5000If you’re confident enough that you’re not going to die, go ahead and attempt the weekly, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Otherwise, do any random strike (or a playlist strike if you think you’re good enough) that you’re not going to die on.
Predator and PreyKill 20 enemies without taking damage from them.50/2500Do note that this does not mean your counter will reset if you take damage. Instead, it means kill 20 enemies that have not damaged you. Though not technically about not dying I put it here anyway because it’s basically the same spirit of the thing. Or something. I like shooting at enemies from the entrance to the Divide with your scout/sniper rifle/rocket launcher for this, but there are many other places you can do this as well. (P.S. – if you do go to the Divide, and you time it right, you can catch the Fallen Walker event that appears quite frequently as well.)

Hints: Pick a planet, mission, and/or strike where you’re fairly confident you’re not going to die. Cosmodrome or Devil’s Lair would be my first choice. And I don’t recommend wandering into a large group of enemies unless you’re about to Fist of Havoc them to death.

Everything Else

BountyDescriptionRep/XPNotes
Cleansing LightKill 3 or more enemies with a single super use, 20 times.50/2500If you’re with a fireteam, grab the extra orbs of light. Regardless, charge your super and go to where enemies are grouped together. Hunters, I don’t recommend Gunslinger for this, if only because you only get 3 (or 4) shots and if you miss even once, you’ll have to wait until your super charges up again. If you have extra armour that has Intellect bonus, I suggest equipping it because it makes your super charge faster. Same goes with equipping any special perks.
It’s All in the HeadKill 100 enemies with precision damage.50/2500There’s this place on Mars I like to go to – Remember that big circle area with the Vex and Cabal fighting I talked about? Before you jump down into that area, stop and wait on the overlook. The Cabal usually come out of that tunnel right below it (next to the dome with the mission beacon) and they’re super easy to headshot from up there. And if your gun has a long enough range, you can hit the Vex in between waiting for the Cabal to spawn. But you can technically do this bounty anywhere.
One For AllAchieve Gold Tier Rating in 3 Public Events.100/5000The public event tracker is here. I recommend doing patrol missions at the same time so you’re not entirely bored, but you could farm mats as well, if you like.
OverchargeKill 2 enemies at once with a Fusion Rifle, 20 times.100/5000You’ve Woken The Hive!™ Enterprise is proud to present the bounty you wish would stop appearing on your list – Overcharge. After the cutscene in “The Dark Beyond” mission on the moon (honestly, why has nobody buried that body yet?), you will see a gate open and a metric crap ton of Thrall strictly come dancing come swarming at you. Fusion Rifle away. Once you’ve taken them all out (but leave the Knight!) let the Knight kill you and you will respawn after the cutscene but before the Thrall and you can repeat until your bounty is complete.
The Bigger They AreComplete a Weekly Heroic or Nightfall Strike.100/5000I highly recommend getting together a group for this, but if you can’t, I’ll just say do your best. The weekly strikes are not easy.

Hints: You can do any of these wherever you want, technically. Hell, you could complete them all on Mars, if you wanted. But why make it harder on yourself than you need to?

All Possible Daily Mission/Weekly Strike Modifiers:

  • Angry – Minions of the Darkness won’t flinch, even after massive damage.
  • Epic – Heavily shielded and highly aggressive enemies appear in great numbers.
  • Heroic – Enemies appear in greater numbers and are more aggressive.
  • Juggler – No ammo drops for your equipped weapon.
  • Lightswitch – Minions of the darkness deal much more melee damage.
  • Nightfall – If all players die, you will be returned to orbit.

Arc Burn, Solar Burn, and Void Burn cause all damage of that element to be greatly increased (whether you’re the one dealing it or not).

Standard Crucible modes:

Non-standard Crucible modes (appear only every so often):

Combined Arms

  • 6v6

Weapons/Skill Bounties

BountyDescriptionRep/XPNotes
Ash and DustDefeat 15 Guardians with a Rocket Launcher.50/2500It helps to know where the Heavy Ammo spawns for this. Be there waiting before it spawns.
HeadhunterDefeat 50 Guardians with headshots.100/5000Hand cannons, scout rifles, and sniper rifles, oh my!
Light the WayDefeat 15 Guardians using a Super.50/2500Titans and voidwalker wizards have an advantage here, but if you can get close enough with bladedancer, go for it.
LongshotDefeat 15 Guardians with headshots using a Sniper Rifle.100/5000The moon is the most effective stage for this, I think, but if you really want to, you can do this anywhere. There’s a special sniper that renders you invisible when you crouch or aim I think. Use that.
Never See You ComingDefeat 10 Guardians from behind.100/5000Sneak up on someone aiming, or use something with splash damage and aim it behind them.
No Riding ZoneDefeat 10 Guardians on Vehicles.100/5000The moon and I think one of the mars stages is really good for this, and so is Combined Arms.
Pull the PinDefeat 20 Guardians with Grenades.50/2500If you’re dying, make it habit to throw a grenade. Not only will you get the kill (usually), but you’ll get the postmortem medal for extra points.
Throw DownDefeat 20 Guardians with your melee attack.100/5000Whittle down someone’s health and STAB THEM. (Er, or smack/punch. Whatever.)
