Okay, here are the rules of best platooning. Note that optimally,  you will stay inside of a single category. I have listed the combinations which, while not optimal, are still entirely acceptable if you don’t mind you or your friend being dragged up a tier from where they’re meant to be. Premium tanks have been denoted with an asterisk. The following is my own personal opinion, and if you know for sure that your unorthodox platoon combo works, then go for it, but you may do well to consult this chart if in doubt.

Tier 1 [Battle Type 1 and 2]: Acceptable categories to platoon with: T2 preferential.

Tier 2 preferential [2 only] {T7 Combat Car*, GB76 MkVIC*, and Pz I}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 1 or Tier 2 (NOT T2 anti-preferential)

Tier 2 anti-preferential [2-4] {T2 Light*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 3 preferential or Tier 3.

Tier 2 [Battle Type 2 and 3] {All Tier 2 vehicles except the 4 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: T2 preferential.

Tier 3 preferential [3 and 4] {LTP*, T-127*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 2 anti-preferential or Tier 4 preferential.

Tier 3 [3-5] {All Tier 3 vehicles except the 2 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 2 anti-preferential, Tier 4 Heavies or Tier 4 Preferential.

Tier 4 preferential [4 only] {Valentine LL*, German B1*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 3, Tier 3 Preferential, or Tier 4 heavies.

Tier 4 heavies [4 and 5] {B1, DW2}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 3, Tier 4 Preferential, Tier 4.

Tier 4 scouts [4-8] {M5A1, T50, A20, M5 Stuart, Luchs, Pz38nA}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 5 Lights, Tier 6, Tier 7 preferential, Tier 7.

(If you must cross-platoon a Tier-4 scout, platoon it with T6 artillery, and don’t bring more than 1 in a 3-man platoon)

Tier 4 [4-6] {All Tier 4 vehicles except the 11 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 5 preferential, Tier 4 heavies

Tier 5 preferential [5 and 6] {MatildaBP*, Excelcior*, M2A4*, Churchill LL*, Matilda LL*, T14*, KV-220*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 4, Tier 5.

Tier 5 lights [6-9] {Leopard and ELC}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 4 scouts, Tier 6, Tier 7, Tier 8 preferential.

(If you must cross-platoon a Tier-5 scout, platoon it with T7 artillery, and don’t bring more than 1 in a 3-man platoon)

Tier 5 Chaffee [7-12] {Chaffee}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 8, Tier 8 lights,Tier 9, Tier 10.

Tier 5 [5-7] {All Tier 5s except the 10 mentioned above, note that this includes the Crusader}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 5 preferential, Tier 6 preferential

Tier 6 preferential [6 and 7] {PzV/IV* and TOG-II*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 5, Tier 6

Tier 6 lights [7-10] {All Tier 6 light tanks}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 7, Tier 8

Tier 6 [6-8] {All Tier 6 non-lights except the 2 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 6 preferential, Tier 7 preferential, Tier 4 scouts, Tier 5 lights

Tier 7 preferential [7 and 8] {Panther M10*, E-25*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 6, Tier 7, Tier 4 scouts

Tier 7 lights [8-11] {All Tier 7 light tanks}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 8, Tier 9

Tier 7 [7-9] {All Tier 7 non-lights except the 2 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 7 preferential, Tier 8 preferential, tier 4 scouts, Tier 5 lights, Tier 6 lights

Tier 8 preferential [8 and 9] {KV-5*, FCM-50t*, T26-E4*, 112*, T34-3*, Type 59*, JT 8.8*}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 7, Tier 8, Tier 5 lights

Tier 8 lights [9-12] {All Tier 8 Lights}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 9, Tier 10, Tier 5 Chaffee

Tier 8 [8-10] {All Tier 8 non-lights except the 7 mentioned above}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 8 preferential, Tier 7 lights, Tier 5 Chaffee, Tier 6 lights

Tier 9 [9-11] {All Tier 9s}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 5 Chaffee, Tier 7 Lights, Tier 8 Lights, Tier 10

Tier 10 [10-12] {All Tier 10s}: Acceptable categories to platoon with: Tier 8 Lights, Tier 5 Chaffee, Tier 9
