RuneScape F2P Cooking Guide

RuneScape F2P Cooking Guide by MysticManiac

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my guide on F2P Cooking. Cooking’s the easiest skill in the game but this guide may help you get to 99 even quicker than you’d think

WHAT IS COOKING?

Cooking is one of the 25 skills of runescape, considered by most people to be the easiest skill. It is used to heal your player when his/her health is low by eating food

Many foods stop burning after a certain Cooking level. Before that level, the food can be burnt and is more likely to be burnt if cooked on a fire. However, cooking food on a fire does give 10% extra Cooking xp due to the Bonfire update

Cooking can be trained with several skills, examples being Fishing, Woodcutting, Firemaking, Combat, Prayer, Crafting, Dungeoneering and P2P Magic. Read below to find out how

GUILD

At level 32 Cooking, you get access to the Cook’s Guild which is located west of Varrock. You need to wear a Chef’s hat to enter the guild

In the guild, you can cook on a range or make flour. You can also collect items that spawn there like grapes, a chocolate bar, pie dishes, cake tins, bowls, cooking apples, jugs and pots. There is also a bank in the guild but unfortunately, that is only avaiilable to members who have completed the hard Varrock Tasks

There is also a grain field north of the guild. The grain field is outside of the guild so that doesn’t require 32 Cooking to use

LEVELS AT WHICH FOOD STOPS BURNING

Swordfish-86
Lobster-74
Pizza-68
Tuna-64
Pike-64
Salmon-58
Trout-50
Herring-41
Anchovies-34
Sardine-34
Crayfish-33
Shrimps-33
Beef-31
Chicken-31

MY METHOD OF TRAINING

This is what I think is the best method for getting 99 Cooking asap

Shrimps, Chicken, Beef or/and Anchovies 1-31 (30xp) – This will be fast as getting to 31 Cooking is not a challenge.
Chicken or/and Beef 31-33 (30xp) – This will be fast as getting from 31-33

Chicken, Beef or Shrimps 33-34 (30xp) – This will be fast as getting from 33-34 Cooking is not a challenge. Because you don’t burn Chicken, Beef or Shrimp during this level, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Anchovies 34-41 (30xp. More profit than Shrimp) – This will be fast as getting from 34-41 Cooking is not a challenge. Because you don’t burn Anchovies during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Herring – 41-50 (50xp) – This will be pretty fast as getting from 41-50 Cooking isn’t a challenge. Because you don’t burn Herring during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Trout 50-58 (70xp) – This will be pretty fast as getting from 50-58 Cooking is not a challenge. Because you don’t burn Trout during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Salmon 58-64 (90xp) – This will be pretty fast as getting from 58-64 Cooking is not much of a challenge. Because you don’t burn Salmon during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Tuna 64-74 (100xp) – This will be pretty fast as Tuna gives a lot of xp. Because you don’t burn Anchovies during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Lobster 74-86(or 99) (120xp) – This isn’t very fast but it’s fast enough because Lobsters give a lot of xp. Because you don’t burn Lobsters during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp
Swordfish – 86-99 (140xp) – This will take a while even though Swordfish gives the most xp. Because you don’t burn Swordfish during these levels, you should cook on fires for 10% extra xp

TIPS
1. Make urns and use them for cooking. You’ll have to teleport to get the extra xp which takes up time but there is a cooking range close to the teleport and you can make fires around the teleport area. You can’t use urns for Swordfish
2. Use xp lamps on Cooking. Few people use lamps on Cooking but it’s an option if you want to
3. Fishing with Cooking can be good profit
4. Wine is an alternative, but very expensive

DUNGEONEERING

In Dungeoneering, you can make 4 types of fish with Cooking. These fish can be bought from the Smuggler or obtained using the Fishing skill which requires the same fishing level to fish as the cooking level required to cook them. These foods are also very common drops, but the raw version of the foods is never dropped.

The food doesn’t stop burning at a certain level, there is always a chance of burning from levels 1-99, but it is less likely at level 99.

FOOD – XP – LEVEL REQUIRED – HEALS? – COST

Heim Crab – 22xp – 1 – 20 – 72gp
Red Eye – 41xp – 10 – 50 – 180gp
Dusk eel – 61xp – 20 – 70 – 252gp
Giant Flatfish – 82xp – 30 – 100 – 360gp
Short-finned eel – 103xp – 40 – 120 – 432gp

Q&A

Q – When do cakes and bread stop burning?
A – I’m not completely sure when but I’d guess bread stops burning at around 30 Cooking like the other food that requires 1 Cooking. And I’d guess 74 for Cakes because Lobsters stop burning at level 74 and both Cakes and Lobsters require 40 Cooking to start burning but I don’t know. You could try experimenting for yourself. I have not been able to find out this information on any website or from asking other players.

Q – Does Wine stop going bad at a certain level?
A – It does not. But it has less chance of going bad at higher levels, very little at 99 Cooking

Q – Why is Cooking thought to be the easiest skill
A – It is thought to be the easiest skill because of the fast xp and the little attention required when Cooking. After you stop burning food, the xp rates go much higher. Cooking isn’t the fastest skill however. The fastest skills are Construction and Prayer but they are very expensive.
