Types of Servers – All you need to know about it

BlackShot uses Peer to Peer Connection System (Also known as P2P). Everyone in the game is connected to a Game Host (See below), which will host the game. If the host is having connection problems, the other players that is in the game will suffer lag or disconnection. This also means that Mio is not 100% the cause of disconnections in-game.

Centralized Server Connection System means everyone connects to the server and this minimize the chances of getting disconnected. The servers will also require a lot of money and resources to keep it working.

Diagram of Centralized Server Connection System

Sometimes there will be problems with the Servers like e.g. Server Crash, Server Lag (All lag is caused by the Server, not the host) e.t.c. Mostly players will get disconnected or lag when playing the game. Just a side note on what I observed. Frequently after Server Crashes, players would spam the chat. Even thought this will not cause another Server Crash, but it would be irritating. Also note that all spammers will be dealt with by the GMs for Misbehavior – Spamming the Chat and causing a nuisance to the BlackShot Community (I will not explain more of it as you will get tired )

BlackShot Servers – FAQ

Q: Why I keep get disconnected from the Server?
A: It might be due to Server Problems, High Login Rate (If there are many players online at that time, the Server might crash as it cannot hold too many players at one time) , Game Host if you get disconnected from a game or your Connection. If your connection is weak, you will not be able to connect to the Game Host and eventually disconnect from the Game and Server. If you frequently get Server Disconnections, call up with your Internet Service Provider to conduct a check on your connection or create a new thread in the Technical Support Channel and an appropriate GM/ Tech Staff will address your problem if stated clearly

Q: [Singapore Server] Why I keep get disconnected from the Server?
A: (1) There is a problem with the server and it is suffering from Major Crashes and Server Lags/ Disconnections frequently nowadays. The GMs will be alerted ASAP and update the current situation in the Forum if necessary
A: (2) Singapore is currently having Next Generation Network Fiber Optical Cable Installation/ Deployment and sometimes this will affect your internet connection. Click here to know more about Fiber Optical Cable

Q: What is the difference between P2P Connection System and Centralized Server Connection System?
A: P2P Connection is cheaper to maintain but there will be more lag and disconnections as compared to Centralized Server Connection. Centralized Server Connection means less lag and disconnections, but it is more expensive to create and maintain

Q: Why can’t BlackShot use Centralized Server Connection System but instead used P2P Connection System?
A: As mentioned above, Centralized Server Connection System will require a lot of money to maintain. Most companies that have games that have a Centralized Server mostly generate a lot of money a year

Room Host

Room Host or Room Master, can be identified in-game with the Star beside the Player’s Status/ Ping Information. They do not host the game or they are the ones that are responsible for the lag or disconnection, they are just the creator of the room.

This is the icon used to identify the Room Host/ Room Master/ Room Creator:

Game Host – All about game hosts

Game Hosts are the ones that host the game (But it need not be the Room Creator). At the start of the game, the system will auto-detect the player with the best connectivity and lets it be the host. It may not be perfect though (See below)

Game Hosts can be identified in-game with the H as their Status/ Ping Information

This means the Game Host is having a very stable connection

This means the Game Host is having an average connection. Slight chances of disconnections and lag

This means the Game Host is having Connection Problems or cannot connect properly to the Server. High chances of lag and disconnections.

Try not to just look at the Game Host’s Ping. If everyone is having Red Ping and the Game Host is having Green Ping, it means the Game Host is able to connect to the Server but the players cannot connect to the Game Host properly. This will mean Host Change Time (See below)

Game Host – How to change host?

Due to network fluctuation, sometime the Host Function will select a person with weak connection and it might not work perfectly well. The only way to resolve the problem is to Change Host. Steps to Change Host (Only applies to the Game Host):

1. Press Esc on your keyboard
2. Click on Change Host
3. The Change Host System will auto detect the best connectivity player now. The below image will appear on your screen and you will not be able to move. It may take a few seconds to a few minutes

4. After completion, you will see the below image on your screen and you will be able to continue your game

Game Host – How to tell a host who is new to BlackShot, to change host?

No one wants to be insulted or flamed at. So tell them kindly to change host. Below is a suggested response if the Host did not change host

” *Game Host’s Name*, can you kindly change host? Just press Esc on your keyboard and click Change Host. You do not need to leave the game”

If he ignores it, press F12 and select the Game Host (Reason: Others/ Bad Game Manners) to boot him out of the game and he will not be able to enter the room again (Strongly not recommended!). Tell the rest to press F11 for Yes and F12 for No

User’s Ping In-Game – How to see if players are lagging?

Check the Player’s Ping. Below are what each ping color stands for

Lime Green/ Green

The player’s connection to the Game Host is Excellent/ Good

Orange

The player’s connection to the Game Host is fair/ average

Light Red/ Red

The player’s connection to the Game Host is weak/ very weak. Host change is required to prevent lag/ disconnection
