Walls and Defences

Your Walls protect your city and are very important to have, but here I will go into detail on how the wall mechanics work!

Walls
The walls are almost like the first line of defense and play a major role in the defense of your city. Upgrade the wall will increase the speed of building the fortifications.
Here is chart of increasing speed of the fortification:
Level 1 – 2%
Level 2 – 3%
Level 3 – 4%
Level 4 – 5%
Level 5 – 6%
Level 6 – 8%
Level 7 – 10%
Level 8 – 12%
Level 9 – 14%
Level 10 -16%

Fortifications

Traps
The trap is designed to kill an even number of all infantry, so 100 pikemen, 100 Paladins, and 100 archers were sent to attack, and the wall had 100 traps, then the attackers would loose roughly 33 pikemen, Paladins, and archers.
It has also been found that if you send 100 warriors at 100 traps, then 100 warriors will die. However if you send 200 warriors then only about 90 warriors will die, 300 and less will die. (This is a rough estimate and the actual numbers could greatly vary.)
Overall having a good bit of traps never hurts you. They’re both cheap and useful.

Abatis
An Abatis is a type of fortified unit consisting of wooden barricades with spear points. It is effective only against mounted troops, such as cavalry and cataphract. It has no effect on other units, but is helpful for protecting your city from those who plan to drop your loyalty with cavalry and cataphract.

Like all other fortifications it is only effective in huge numbers.

Archer Towers
Towers built on city walls to provide a vantage point for shooting enemies. Like all other fortifications it is only effective in huge numbers. It has a pretty good attack and a long range. A very good fortification!

Archer’s towers are very sturdy and are not easy to destroy as an attacker but don’t delude yourself that you are safe.

Trebuchet
These fortifications were a short range defense, so Artilleries and Catapults could easily destroy them. But it has the highest attack and life. It’s a very strong fortification. They are a rather ineffective ‘one-use’ weapon. But the technology “Machinery” can restore them for a certain amount. For this very reason you should not focus on building rolling logs as much as the others.

Rolling Logs
A rolling log is a type of fortified unit consisting of a large rolling log. These logs weigh a lot, roll downhill quickly, and will crush attacking units to death. It’s almost the same as trebuchet, but a little weaker.

Always remember that your defenses and walls work best with the assistance of your army

Unit and Combat Tactics

Since I have mention the information of the soldiers above, I will go directly into the war tactics.

War Tactics

Here are the effective types of attacks. There are 5 kinds of wilderness in LOA, the number of enemies increase in this sequence: Swamp, Hill, Forest, Cave, and Valley.

Swamp ~ Swamp is the weakest and wilderness in LOA. It contains no more than 15 enemies. Most of the enemies are weak. Even the new player can attack it very easily. And it has the largest number in the map. Attacking this wilderness, you can get:
Coins (small amount)
Resources
Gems (beads, pearls, sapphire, silver debris)
Hero (most of them are junior)
Items (beginning speed up tools, author’s note, etc.) —— The most important
Equipments (most are Lv.0 and Lv.10)
Please send your troop with double or treble number compare with the wilderness if you don’t want to lose even one. Using Cataphract is a good choice here because it has a high speed and good attack & defense.

Hill ~ Hill is a little higher level than swamp. It contains no more than 50 enemies. The enemies are stronger, with better attack, defense and life. Attacking this wilderness, you can get:
Coins (around 100)
Resources
Gems (beads, pearls, sapphire, silver debris)
Hero (most of them are junior and intermediate)
Items (beginning/primary speed up tools, author’s note, Energy drinks. etc.)
Equipments (most are Lv.10 and Lv.20)
You’d better send your troops with double or treble number compare with the wilderness, but you will still lose one or two. Still I suggest using Cataphract.

Forest ~ Forest is a wilderness a pretty large amount of energy. The weakest forest will still contain more than 100 enemies. Some of them may contain 400 or so. So don’t try to attack this unless you have a strong army. Attacking this wilderness, you can get:
Coins (around 400)
Resources
Gems (a large amount of beads, pearls, sapphire, silver debris. a little ruby, crystal, goal debris if you’re lucky enough)
Hero (most of them are senior and famous)
Items (beginning/primary speed up tools, author’s note, Energy drinks. Etc)
Equipments (most are Lv.20 and Lv.30)
I strongly suggest you to use pikemen with archer and Artillery, because pikemen is cheaper.

Cave ~ Cave is a high level wilderness, with at least 500 enemies. All are strong in attack & defense. But of course, the reward is great. Attacking this wilderness, you can get:
Coins (around 1000)
Resources (around 10000)
Gems (a large amount of, pearls, sapphire, silver debris. a little ruby, crystal, goal debris, spar and diamond if you’re lucky enough)
Hero (most of them are senior and famous, sometimes you can get legend)
Items (beginning/primary speed up tools, author’s note, Energy drinks. Etc)
Equipments (most are Lv.30 and Lv.40)
Still, pikemen with archer and artillery is recommended.

Valley ~ Valley is the strongest wilderness in LOA, with more than 1000 enemies. It has a smallest amount in the map. So looking for a valley with item is a very difficult thing. Attacking this wilderness, you can get:
Coins (around 1000)
Resources (around 20000)
Gems (a large amount of, pearls, sapphire, silver debris. a little ruby, crystal, goal debris, spar and diamond if you’re lucky enough)
Hero (most of them are famous, sometimes you can get legend)
Items (many different kinds, I am not going to list it here)
Equipments (most are Lv.40 and Lv.50)
Still, pikemen with archer and artillery is recommended.
