Dragonica Archer Class Guide

Dragonica Archer Class Guide by OpelxFrost

Introduction to Archer

The classes in brown are hidden classes. Hidden classes, 3rd  job and 4th job are currently unavailable.

Archer is a physical range user and an all rounder character in terms of stats. The main feature of archer is their rising arrow skill and the air-combo button (default key is Z). Air-combo allows archer to shoot airborne targets at a faster rate depending on how fast the user mash the button (there is a cap speed to how fast you can shoot). Damage for air-combo is also reduced by around 30% as compared to normal attack (default ‘x’ button). Since air-combo can only target airborne targets, what about ground targets? That is where rising arrow comes into play. Rising arrow launches ground opponent into air. It requires only 1 mana for activation and has a fast cool down of 1 second. Both air-combo and rising arrow can hit up to 5 targets making it a great AOE skill too (AOE for air-combo is huge, but AOE for rising arrow is very small). I usually call the combination of rising arrow and air combo; rising combo.  Before you start playing archer, be warned that they are the most demanding job in terms of finger strength. In one 4 star map, archer would need to press ‘Z’ aka air combo for 2500 times. One 4 star map takes 6 mins on average; hence in one hour that would be 25k times. So before you decide to use archer, be prepared to ‘kill’ your finger

Hunter, like archers, uses bow too. Hunter is geared towards AOE and disabling. [not done]

Ranger is the direct opposite of Hunter. Instead of bow, Ranger uses crossbow and is geared towards single target. The main feature of Ranger is tank and camouflage. Ranger class skills are less useful as compared to archer. But that is compensated with slightly higher weapon damage. In PvP, Ranger works much better than hunter due to the skill called camouflage. This can be seen from the video below: Ranger PvP Video. In PvE, ranger is does quite well too, though the demand of skill level is slightly higher as compared to hunter due to the lack of mob control. In MvP, Ranger works much better than hunter due to higher damage.

Archer Skill

Bow Mastery
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 15
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Passively increase damage by 3 per level
Although the damage increase is low and crappy, it is still a passive mastery.
In summary, Bow Mastery is a passive damage buffer so it is a must.

Rapid Step
Mastery Level: 2
Skill Points: 60
Required Level: 5
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Passively increase movement speed by 20 per level  (40 at mspd increase at max)
Rapid step has no effect on the distance covered in dash jump or dashing. I tested running side by side with a Hunter without rapid step and my speed was 2 times faster. The same applies to bunny hopping (continuous jumping). This skill is redundant for travelling since it has no effect on dash jumping or dashing, but it grants player greater mobility making it extremely easy to dodge attack in PvP, PvE or MvP.
In summary, Rapid Step is an extremely good skill, max it once you have the skill points.

Re-launch
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Unlock a key combo that launches up to 5 KD enemy.
Activates by pressing: down + attack, down + attack, up + attack
Re-launch is a rather useless skill due to a long key sequence. I prefer jump-shot over re-launch since jump-shot is much easier to execute and way faster.
In summary, Re-launch is too much of a hassle to activate. Get jump shot instead.

Jump-shot
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Unlock a key combo that launches up to 5 KD enemy while the user is in mid-air.
Activates by pressing: down + attack [only possible in air]
This skill is easy to activate and good to use, but the area it covers is quite small. This skill is extremely good in PvP since you want to keep your opponent lock in your combo. For PvE it is quite useful too.
In summary, Jump-shot is a great skill to get for PvP and PvE.

Moonwalk
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Unknown
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Unlock a key combo that allow a user to moonwalk.
Activates by pressing: Z + attack
With the new pot system, it is now important to dodge opponent attack. Hence, Moonwalk is a good skill to get. It also unlocks Moonwalk shot making it easier to maintain your combo against range mob. Moonwalk can be activated on ground or mid-air making it good for dodging opponent that are camping your ground when you made a mistake jump in PvP.
In summary, Moonwalk is an extremely good skill with the introduction of the new potting system. It is also useful in PvP for moving yourself in midair (provided you are not launched by someone of course….).

Moonwalk Shot
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Unlock a key combo that allow a user to shoot while moon-walking
Activates by pressing: Attack while moonwalking.
Great for maintaining your combo while moonwalking, not that useful in PvP.
In summary, Moonwalk Shot is a great PvE skill, get it!

Rising Shot
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active (Cool down: 1 sec) (1 MP per use)
Description: Launch up to 5 enemies into the air
This is probably the most important skill for archer. It has no effect on boss and some mob. Damage is reduced when doing a rising shot making it useful for combo building (not an efficient way to level unless you are waiting for the mobs to respawn). For combo building shoot the mob up, the moment it touches ground, strike it again with rising shot.
If you missed with rising shot, use jump shot to launch your opponent again. This is also a fun way to toy your opponent in a 1v1 PvP when done on purpose continuously (rising > jump shot > repeat or rising > rising > repeat). Though the main use is usually to let the countdown timer reach 0 when you already have an edge in points.
In summary, get rising shot unless you are mad.

Double Strike
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active (Cool down: 3 sec) (20 MP per use)
Description: Fires 2 arrow in very short interval (dmg increase by X per level)
Damage on double strike is high since it doubles your damage and adds a fix amount depending on the level of double strike. For e.g. if your double strike description states +50 attack and your normal attack is 300 damage, you will be firing 2 arrow that deals 350 damage in a very short interval. Due to the short interval, if the 1st arrow has enough damage to kill off your 1st target, the 2nd arrow will hit the next available target. Anyway this skill is available on default at level 1 but it doesn’t come for free (that is why we start with 0 skill points at lvl 1). Due to the high damage, it is a great skill for boss killing.
In summary, Double Strike is useful enough at level 1, but since it is a great skill for bossing, getting it to a higher level doesn’t hurt.

Bleed
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 10
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Double Strike level 2
Type: Active (Cool down: 5 sec) (22 MP per use)
Description: Summon a book to smack your opponent, affects up to 5 targets. Does DOT and on-strike damages. + 55 on-strike damage on level 1 (+5 attack per level) and 10 DOT per second for 15 secs (+3 DOT per level)
Though bleed is an AOE, I find this skill rather redundant since DOT doesn’t build up your combo making it bad for leveling purposes. The main use would be on bosses which double strike does a much better job due to a lower cool down. Apart from the above-mentioned disadvantage, it still has prerequisites and cost 5 more points per level as compared to double strike.
In summary, Bleed is not worth getting since double strike is better for single target killing and rising combo is better for AOE leveling since it builds combo.

Multi-shot
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 3
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Double Strike level 2
Type: Active (Cool down: 5 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Fire arrows in a wide sector.
I was lazy on writing this skill description since this skill might as well by called multi-suck. The damage is crappy and casting time is way too long.
In summary, Multi-shot is a waste of points. Get it only if you need it to unlock your hunter skill.

Random Shot
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 5
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Multi-shot level 2
Type: Active Buff (Cool down: 10 sec) (40 MP per use)
Description: Automatically fire an extra shot after a normal attack. Each shot is reduced to 70% of normal damage (damage and duration is increased per level).
The 2nd arrow has a long interval though it is slightly faster than firing a 2nd arrow on my own. But there isn’t a point since the skill cost 30 points per level (which is pretty darn expensive) on top of that, your damage is decreased, hence when calculating the damage via DPS, it has little to no benefit.
In summary, Random Shot is a waste of points. Get it only if you need to unlock your hunter skill.

Arrow Shower
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 25
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active (Cool down: 4 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Fires a shower of arrow (+240 attack at level 10)
Arrow shower damage is higher than rocket launcher but it also requires more skill points. The casting time is slow thus making your character vulnerable and it has a slight delay before the arrow strikes. Rising combo or hunter AOE skills are much better for AOE clearing. The only advantage for arrow shower is probably the ability to damage KD targets.
In summary, get arrow shower only to unlock ranger skills or rocket launcher.

Homing Missile
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 25
Required Level: 3
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Arrow Shower level 1
Type: Active (Cool down: 4 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Fire a bazooka into mid-air targets (up to 5 targets). +150 attack at level 5
This skill is redundant since archer has air combo, which is much better.
In summary, get homing missile only to unlock ranger skills or rocket launcher.

Rocket Launcher
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 8
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Bazooka level 1
Type: Active (Cool down: 5 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Summon a ‘beacon’ and drop a rocket and hits all in the vicinity of the ‘beacon’. + 140 attack at level 5
This is a great AOE skill since it launches opponent. It has a slight delay when casting though which is the main disadvantage. I call the use of rocket launcher and air combo as rocket combo. Btw, this skill doesn’t strike KD enemy. Only pump rocket launcher if you are going for the ranger path since hunter has better AOE or disabling skill. Rocket launcher also unlocks a ranger skill.
In summary, rocket launcher is basically rising arrow with larger AOE, higher damage but with a longer cool down and a slight delay.

Bird Watching (I usually call this skill chicken head in the guide)
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active Buff (Cool down: 30 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: + 70 attack, +10 strength, +10 accuracy at level 10
This is a great skill, at lower skill levels, the duration is too short, but at higher levels it is longer than the cool down time. The damage increase is much higher than bow mastery too (7 attack per level as compared to 3 per level). The total damage that chicken head increase is around 100 (since str affects your damage and probably also due to the way attack is calculated), Since chicken damage increase is fixed, it is only useful at low level. For e.g. a level 20 archer deals around 200 to 300 damage and with max level chicken head, that is around 30 to 50% damage increase. But at level 40, Ranger/Hunter normal attack would be 700 to 800, hence the damage is increase is only 10 to 15%. But the accuracy it adds make chicken head quite a good skill even at higher level.
In summary, chicken head is an important damage buffing skill at level 1 to 40. But from level 40 onwards, it’s usefulness greatly reduces and it’s main purpose would be as an accuracy buff skill instead of damage buffing.

Decoy
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 5
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Bird Watching level 2
Type: Active Summon (Cool down: 30 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Summon a beautiful lady to distract enemy, duration is 3 sec at level 1 and 7 sec at maximum.
Decoy is a waste of time due to the short duration. I’m not sure if it works on boss but even if it does, the duration is too short. This skill obviously doesn’t work on players unless they decide to be a joker.
In summary, decoy is crap. Get it only if you want to unlock ranger/hunter blur skill.

Hunter

All skill evaluation for hunter were given by 3nforcer and Splurd. So, the credits goes to them.

Bow Specialization
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 21
Required Weapon: Bow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive Description: Passively increases damage by 1%  per level (10% at max)
Max it since it is a passive damage buffer and most importantly cause it is a % increase.
In summary, max it since it is a passive damage buff and is a % increase.

Falcon Frenzy
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 20
Required Level: 25
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active (Cooldown: 10 sec) (50 MP per use)
Description: Summon a phoenix to hit up to 5 targeted enemies in front of you. Phoenix does 5 attack to each enemy. +140 attack at level 5.
Falcon frenzy launches up to 5 targets, both ground and KD, after hitting them for 5 times. Miss rate is high for falcon frenzy.
In summary, get falcon frenzy to level 3 to unlock wolf rush

Wolf Rush
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 27
Prerequisites: Falcon Frenzy level 3
Type: Active (Cooldown: 10 sec) (50 MP per use)
Description: Artic wolf hits up to 5 KD and ground targets and causes KD effect.
Targets struck by wolf rush will be stunned for 0.5 to 1 sec before getting knockdown (not sure if you can continue shooting them during this stun effect).
In summary, a great AOE skill for hunter.

Acid Arrow
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 25
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: Unkown
Prerequisites: Random Shot lvl 1, Bleed lvl 2
Type: Active (Cooldown: 3 sec) (20 MP per use)
Description: Deals moderate AOE poison DOT dmg to enemies in front of you (up to 5 targets). On-strike and DOT effect increases per level.
Acid arrow causes mini stun effect; 0.5 sec. Splurd comment that acid arrow damage isn’t that great in PvP as rising shot > air combo works much better.
In summary, not a very good damaging skill, but the ministun effect is good to have.

Sharpshooting
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: Unkown
Prerequisites: Acid Arrow level 1
Type: Active (Cooldown: 2 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Stun a single target. Dmg increases per level.
According to 3nforcer and Splurd testing, sharpshooting deals high damge in PvP and very low damage against mobs (most likely a bug). Sharpshooting requires a disabling skill to combo with (probably non bugged netbind?) due to it’s long casting time (about 2 secs).

In summary, a great damaging skill in PvP. Damage seems bugged in PvE.

Splash Trap
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 25
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: Unkown
Prerequisites: Falcon Frenzy level 1, Sharpshooting level 1
Type: Active (Cooldown: 5 sec) (20 MP per use)
Description: Create a trap. Explode when enemy step on it. Trap disappears 10 second after cast or when activated by enemy. Dmg increases per level.
Splash trap damage was bugged in Alpha II.
In summary, bugged skill so we can’t tell.

Hallucination
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 25
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Decoy level 1
Type: Active Buff (Cooldown: 60 sec) (50 MP per use)
Description: Raises evasion rating.
When i used a lvl 3 blur in alpha, I don’t see much of a difference in the dodge rate. Might get it to level 10 in close beta to test it again.
In summary, need more testing

Netbind
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points Required: 30
Required Level: 26
Required Weapon: Unkown
Prerequisites: Blur level 2
Type: Active (Cooldown: 20 sec) (60 MP per use)
Description: Throw a web to binds enemies (up to 3 targets) movement. 3 secs duration at level 1, + 0.5 secs per level (7.5 secs at level 10)
Affected targets can still attack. Targets struck by netbind cannot move, but they can still jump while they are binded by net (this is a bug). When in air, they can move around, making it possible for affected targets to bunny hop away. Netbind has a short cast time of about 1 sec, which is very long in pvp, hence it is not advisable to pump net bind for PvP. For PvE, monster will never run from you, so netbind is not required (unless you decide that some bondage is fun….).
In summary, netbind has a casting time of 1 sec, making it useless for PvP the effect is useless for PvE too, as monster doesn’t run from players.

Ranger

Aerial Flurry
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 15
Required Level: 1
Required Weapon: Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Passive
Description: Unlock a key combo that allows the user to shoot KD targets in mid-air
Activates by pressing: jump, front + attack
This skill is plain joke and definitely not worth getting even though it cost only 10 SP. The angle of attack is fixed (not homing like air combo) and the skill doesn’t have any AOE, making it hard to use. It is much better to use jumpshot to launch your opponent for air combo.
In summary, this is a bad skill. Jumpshot works much better at hitting KD-ed targets.

Crux Shot
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 25
Required Level: 21
Required Weapon: Crossbow
Prerequisites: None
Type: Active (Cooldown: 0 sec) (22 MP Per use)
Description: Increase your next crossbow skill/attack by 20% (+ 110% damage at maximum)
Crux Shot is an extremely useful skill in future when Ranger got their active attack skill in 3rd or 4th job. Currently it doesn’t work with any Ranger skills (no effect on tank or claymore) but it isn’t a bug or anything since those two skill are not affected by weapon attacks. Crux shot only affects the 1st arrow on double strike since double strike is actually a double attack skill. It works well with rocket and arrow shower.
In summary, Crux Shot is a great skill but doesn’t shine till Ranger got their new active attack in 3rd or 4th job.

Claymore (Crapmore)
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Rocket level 2
Type: Active (Cool down: 1 sec) (50 MP per use)
Description: Lay a claymore infront of user. 10 secs later it automatically blows up damaging opponent in front.
I would rather call it crapmore instead of claymore. The damage is low, hard to use and it still has cooldown. It is still required to get 4 levels on claymore if you are intending to get tank.
In summary, Claymore is a bad skill. Don’t touch it unless you are intending to get tank.

Detonator
Mastery Level: 1
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Claymore level 1
Type: Active (Cooldown: 0 sec) (1 MP per use)
Description: Blows up all claymore previously planted.
With detonator, it is much easier to use the claymore but the damage on claymore is still too low to make it useful. It is still required to get 1 level of detonator though.
In summary, Detonator is a bad skill. Don’t touch it unless you are intending to get tank.

Autoshot System
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 25
Required Weapon: Bow/Crossbow
Prerequisites: Claymore level 4, Detonator level 1
Type: Active (Cooldown: 15 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Summon a tank that automatically shoots the closest target.
The duration is lower than the cooldown at lower level but at maximum skill level, the duration is longer than the cooldown, but i’m not sure if you can cast 2 tank at one time. The damage is not affected by weapon attack and seems to be affected only by strength (I got a slight increase in attack when i cast bird watching and get no damage difference by changing weapons or casting crux shot), Need further in depth testing since i’m not sure if character levels and level of tank affects it too. Tank ignore defense (both physical and magical) making it great for boss killing. But please note that tank damage is much lower than your normal attack. Tank attack has a small AOE (which i guess is also up to a maximum of 5 targets) and has slight knockback effect making it useful for locking the opponent when multiple tank works together in PvP or guildwar. If you decide to go on a 1v1 PvP, tank is also a great skill since it hinders (please note that it hinders and doesn’t prevent) other classes from doing chain combo on you. Tank doesn’t build up combo though, making it bad for PvE. It has a cooldown of 1 sec between each attack.
In summary, tank is great to have but requires lvl 4 or 5 to see it’s true capability (due to duration). It is more useful in MvP and does ok in PvP.

Hallucination
Mastery Level: 10
Skill Points: 30
Required Level: 25
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Decoy level 1
Type: Active Buff (Cooldown: 60 sec) (50 MP per use)
Description: Raises evasion rating.
When i used a lvl 3 blur in alpha, I don’t see much of a difference in the dodge rate. Might get it to level 10 in close beta to test it again.
In summary, need more testing.

Camouflage
Mastery Level: 5
Skill Points: 10
Required Level: 23
Required Weapon: None
Prerequisites: Blur level 2
Type: Toggle (Cooldown: 1 sec) (30 MP per use)
Description: Camouflage self and grants invisibility. Skill ends when character use skill or move (but there is a delay of 2 to 3 secs before you appear). MP is consumed when camouflage is active.
This skill is useful in PvP and PvE or MvP. In PvP, camouflage is great for ambushing since the user can move for 2 to 3 sec b4 revealing hence making it easy to do a rising combo. Camouflage cast a shadow below you, so it is quite easy for others to notice ur presence. Talking in all mode also creates a bubble above you so try not to talk in all mode when camouflaging. For MvP, it is useful since it removes mob aggro or grant you invunerability. When against boss like Lavalon, he would not target you when you are camouflaged. But his AOE does hits camouflaged targets, so in a party against lavalon, don’t use camouflage.
In summary, great for PvP and MvP but keeping it at level 1 will do since we want low MP per use instead of mana drain per sec.
