Brave Frontier The Green Threat (Lugina EX Trial) Guide by Twofu

Accessed in the Summoners’ Research Lab within Imperial Capital Randall after you have defeated Cardes the Malevolent in Trial No. 004.

  • Trial EX: The Green Threat is available until you defeat him.
  • 50 Energy, 1 battle, and 70,000 experience.
  • Gems cannot be used to revive.
  • 1 item set can be used.
  • 3 squads can be used.

IMPORTANT

  • Bring at least 2 Goddess Idol and 2 Revive Light.
  • Use your Angel/Goddess Idols on your healer and mitigator.
  • Using a mono-fire squad and killing each enemy one at a time when they’re summoned makes the fight a lot easier.

GRAVION

  • Susceptible to paralysis.
  • Delays its scripts, but does not cancel them.

  • Gravion remains idle then massive AoE during the next turn.
  • Trigger your mitigator’s BB/SBB.
  • Guard on remaining units.

< 50% HP

  • Attack and defense buff on self.

< 30% HP

  • Gravion remains idle then massive AoE during the next turn.
  • Trigger your mitigator’s BB/SBB.
  • Guard on remaining units.

< 0 % HP

  • Summons LUGINA.

GREEN DRAGON VAERU

  • Buffs injury to attack on everyone.

LUGINA

  • Susceptible to injury and weakness.

< 85% HP

  • Summons IVY GODDESS NALMIKA.

< 80% HP

  • Massive single-target earth elemental attack.
  • 50,000 damage.

< 70% HP

  • Summons BLADE EMPEROR ZELBAN.
  • Buffs defense and earth element on everyone.

< 60% HP

  • Massive single-target earth elemental attack.
  • 50,000 damage.

< 55% HP

  • Summons TWIN ARMS RICKEL.
  • Inflicts paralysis.
  • Susceptible to paralysis.

< 50% HP

  • Massive single-target earth elemental attack.
  • 50,000 damage.

< 25% HP

  • Recovers 100% HP and transforms.
  • Massive AoE earth elemental attack.
  • Trigger your mitigator’s BB/SBB.
  • Guard on remaining units.

GAIA KING LUGINA

  • Susceptible to injury and weakness.

< 70% HP

  • Summons DEITY RULER LUCCA.
  • Buffs attack, earth and water element on everyone.

< 60% HP

  • Summons GOD TREE ALTRI.
  • Buffs status immunity on everyone.
  • Heals 10,000-30,000 HP to all allies.

< 50% HP

  • Summons THIEF GOD ZELNITE.
  • Single-target earth elemental attack that drains BB gauge.

< 40% HP

  • Removes all buffs.

< 10% HP

  • Massive AoE earth elemental attack.
  • Trigger your mitigator’s BB/SBB.
  • Guard on remaining units.

CLEAR REWARDS

  • 1 Gem.
  • 3,000,000 Zel.
  • 10,000 Karma.
  • Heresy Sphere: 15% boost to attack, defense, recovery, max HP, and boosts BB gauge fill rate by 25%. Classified as a BB gauge sphere, so it stacks with stat boosting spheres.

Some skill data:

Gravion:

  • Gravion Arm – 130% damage AoE
  • Allocating Data – nothing at all (counts as a stat buff, but has no buff data)
  • Limit Cancel – +50% ATK/DEF for 999 turns
  • Heavy Gravion – 500% damage AoE, additional 50% multiplier (First use before Limit Cancel deals 750% damage, second use deals 825% damage; DEF is 50% more effective against this attack)

Vael:

  • Rust Breath – 120% damage AoE, 18% proc chance injury buff

Lugina:

  • Ground Zapper – 115% damage AoE
  • Elle Illumination – 70% HP damage ST; 50% chance to drain entire BB gauge
  • Grand Hazard – 100000 Fixed Damage ST (not 50k; 100k)

Zelban:

  • Tempest Wall – 3 turn 100% DEF buff, Earth Buff
  • Orbit Folia – 140% damage AoE, 3 turn 200% DEF buff, earth buff

Nalmika:

  • Deadly Chamomile – 150% ST, 65% all status effects
  • Demon Tree Nargima – 250% AoE, 50% all status effects

Rickel:

  • Ancient Ovis – 150% damage ST; 80% Paralysis/Poison
  • Crystal Fanaa – 200% damage ST; 80% Paralysis/Poison

Gaia King Lugina

  • Morta Sky Garden – 400% damage AoE, additional 50% multiplier (600% damage total, DEF is 50% more effective against this attack)
  • Ground Rock – 130% damage AoE
  • Elle Straight Strike – 160% HP damage ST, 100% BB drain
  • Instant Menace – 50% ATK/DEF for 2 turns on Lugina only, clear all buffs on player squad
  • Dawn Blast – 200% damage ST

Lucca

  • Gigas Marquia – 120% damage AoE, earth/water buff for 3 turns
  • Dragon’s Roar – 120% damage AoE, 30% ATK buff for 3 turns, earth/water buff for 3 turns

Altri

  • Spectral Purge – AoE heal 10k-20k; cures all status effects (including stat down debuffs)
  • Cosmic Radius – AoE heal 30k-40k; cures all status effects (including stat down debuffs); status immunity for 3 turns (not including stat down debuffs)

Zelnite:

  • Cosmo Grip – 110% damage AoE, drains 25-30% of BB gauge
  • Hand Over All Your BC! – 130% damage AoE, drains 100% of BB gauge
  • Warning: Your BC’ll be mine. – 110% damage AoE

As for passive effects, BC drop resistance is very noticeable in this trial. Nothing else can really be measured.

Most of the enemy AoE is fairly weak, so Injury and ATK down debuffs work pretty well. Notably the nukes will barely be affected if at all, however.

Lugina’s single target nuke can just barely be survived by a unit with 8k base HP (6* + anima + imped or 7* + anima), mitigation, guarding, shield and dual Tridon leads (103733 effective HP – the attack does 100k damage). Chances are the unit would still be killed by following attacks, but HP spheres would push the survival chance higher. Still, it’s moderately impressive the possibility exists that a unit can survive that hit, and if Lugina really does only target the highest HP unit, it may be a viable strategy for surviving it. If it was only 50k damage you could get by with just one Tridon lead. There’s also potential for the earth shield sphere that some players may have from the earth/thunder vortex arenas, which is worth more effective HP than an HP sphere in this scenario due to how mitigation stacks additively (going from 70% mitigation to 85% mitigation would be a 50% damage reduction, while the unit already has +60% HP and thus would need +160% more HP to get the same survivability boost).

Another method:

  • Ultor (Taunt makes sure it hits him)
  • Earth shield
  • Dual 15% mitigation leads (Arbonella, Agni, Ramna)
  • Mitigation buff
  • 5920 HP * (1/(1-0.95)) = 119200 effective HP
  • No substitutes can really be used for the leader slot as this is taking the OP stacking of mitigation effects to the limit, but you could use the Earth Mail sphere in second slot to bring mitigation to 100% and always survive
  • Works even with un-imped Oracle Ultor, but he’s going to take every single hit on the nuke turns, so he really wants as much HP as he can get. The DEF buff included with taunt and 95% mitigation is going to help a lot, though.

In the final phase, Lugina’s single target nukes require at least mitigation or guarding above 80% HP to survive, which isn’t quite is difficult to achieve.
