WildStar Spellslinger Healing Gear, Runes and Consumables Guide

WildStar Spellslinger Healing Gear, Runes and Consumables Guide by Irullan

Hopefully you already know a little bit about the Spellslinger, and are looking for more information on how to optimize your healing with the best class in Wildstar. If you are looking for a more basic place to start learning about the Spellslinger skills, amps, and builds, check out my guide to getting started.

This guide is not going to look at BiS items- that will come in a later theorycrafting post. What this guide will do, is point out some crafted and quest items that will make healing early on much, much easier, and discuss what runes and consumables may be best for early game healing vs late game healing.

Gearing Up

One feature unique to Wildstar are “specials” and “imbuements”. These are features on some pieces of gear that grant special abilities, unlock extra stats, or provide significant bonus procs. Below are a few quest reward and crafted items that you will want to be sure to save once you hit 50. In some cases, they may even provide a BiS bonus.

Another point about gearing that you may not know is that each piece may have its own unique rune slots that are random each time. If you craft an item and get rune slots that are not useful to you, you may craft it again for a chance at more/different rune slots that may be more useful. From what I have seen, the same goes for world and boss drops. Each drop will have a different number of rune slots, with different runes. I am not sure if it applies to quest rewards.

Aside from questing, crafting, and random drops, there are also Rare Spawns. For a complete guide to Rare Spawns in the game, head over here.

Quest: Refrigerator Raiders.
Reward: Mantel of Azrion (Dominion) Mantel of the Widow Maker (Exile)
Quality: Blue
32 Finesse
32 Moxie
41 Grit
Special: Each heal grants a 10% chance to regen 15 focus.
Rune Slots: 2
This special was recently nerfed, but is still valuable enough to keep these around for a while, despite the Finesse.

Quest: ?? One of the Malgrave 5m quests
Reward: Gorging Shooters
Quality: Blue
520 Assault Power
780 Support Power

24 Focus Recovery

Rune Slots: 2
I talk about this special in my Beginner’s Guide. Even with the nerf, stacking this special will really help with managing your focus early on.

Quest: Into the Core
Reward: Grips of the Destroyer
Quality: Blue
34 Moxie
34 Insight
44 Critical Hit Rating
Special: Rage: Whenever you Crit, you Assault and Support Power are increased by 11 for 6.0 seconds. This can stack up to 3 times.
Rune Slots: 2
RIP OP Rage proc. These still aren’t bad early on. Epic gloves drop off the Phagetech Guardian in GA, and I believe there are gloves from vet SSM, so you will probably be waiting a bit to replace these anyway.

Tailoring – Pattern from Sanctuary of the Swordmaiden- 5m
Blessing of the Blademother
Quality: Blue
Stats: Can put in whatever you want with Tailoring. Amounts depend on core.
With a decent core I got:
25 Moxie
75 Insight
5 Grit
Special: Refresh: Your healing spells have a 15% change to heal for an additional 880 health and increase your Focus Recovery by 110 for 4s.
Rune Slots: 2-4

Rare Spawns:
Check out our rare spawn list if you are having trouble getting certain pieces of gear. Any of these items may be random in quality- green, blue, or purple, and stats increase accordingly.  Rune slots are typically 0-2.

BoE Epics:
BoE epics may drop off any level 48-50 mobs (from what I have seen). The most common place to farm these are Northern Grimvault, though drop rates have been significantly decreased.

Rune slots listed are base number- I think there is a chance to get MORE than the number listed, but I have never seen less than the number listed. Rune elements are random.

RUNES

This section will take a look at the rune sets that are useful to a healing Spellslinger. For a more general introduction to runecrafting, check out Flannan’s amazing guide. Number crunching for BiS will come later. Still, it is pretty clear that getting to 20 piece Lifegiver will be your high-end goal. Maintaining at least one set of Focus Regen will be important when replacing your gear with “specials”.

Looking at this chart, you can see that Water and Life are our best slots since they will give us the most throughput by being able to directly stack Insight.

Consumables

Here is a list of meals and boosts, and field techs that I would recommend. If you can find a dedicated farmer, it will make gathering the mats for these MUCH easier. I keep a tier 3 garden on my property just for mats.

Everyone can learn cooking, though it is a terrible pain at present and I do not know anyone with many of these recipes. Hopefully it will get revisited soon.

Please add to the comments section if there are more that you think should be listed here.

I will pop this during a highly heal intensive part of a fight, or when someone has made a mistep and I need to heal a lot in a short amount of time. Very handy.

Thank you all for reading! This post is a work in progress, so if you have something you feel should be added, please let me know in the comments. Good luck, and have fun!
