Rift Rogue Easy Marksman Guide

Rift Rogue Easy Marksman Guide by Avilah

WARNING: THIS IS NOT THE MOST OPTIMAL MARKSMAN BUT IT WILL BE BETTER FOR ABOUT 80% OF THE ROGUES OUT THERE WHO AREN’T MIN MAXERS. WHEN RUNNING IN ACTUAL LAG AND RAID SETTINGS, MANY PEOPLE WILL SEE A DPS INCREASE

Introduction:
Hey guys this is my version of Marksmen. It is a very easy spec to play and I got it simplified to 3 macros. It may not be as detailed and precise and Muspel’s guide. But it is also much easier to follow and you the dps difference is barely noticable. But in a not perfect world where we focus on mechanics during fights, the macros and rotations in this guide will actually be better so you can actually focus on the fight and mechanics. Especially if you are new to rift and are still in T1, this guide will be great for you!

The build:
61MM/10Ranger/5Nb

Most of what I learned come from Muspel in this guide:
http://forums.riftgame.com/game-disc…rm-legion.html

Buffs: Silvertip Munitions, Static Shock Munitions, Predatory Instincts.

Macros:

Builder:
#show Empowered Shot
suppressmacrofailures
cast Decoy
cast Empowered Shot
cast Swift Shot
cast Free Recoil

Finishers:
#show Rapid Fire Shot
suppressmacrofailures
cast Free Recoil
cast Empowered Shot
cast Rapid Fire shot
cast Hasted Shot

#show Bull’s Eye
suppressmacrofailures
cast Bull’s Eye
cast Deadeye Shot

**I macro Decoy because it’s minor DPS and just another thing that I don’t have to worry about**
**Must press twice for Bull’s Eye and Deadeye Shot to be used**
**Never use the Bull’s Eye/Deadeye Shot macro when Free Recoil is active. Currently I only ever use the Bull’s Eye/Deadeye Shot macro when Bull’s Eye is off cooldown or if I need energy.**

Utility:

#show Deaden
suppressmacrofailures
stopcasting
cast @focus Deaden

#show Eradicate
suppressmacrofailures
stopcasting
cast @focus Eradicate

Other skills that need there own keybind…

Strafe-Use after your first burst rotation (See rotation below) and when you need energy there after. I personally use it at less than 50 energy.
Quick Reload-Ideally you want to use it when Bull’s eye, free recoil, rapid fire shot, decoy, and strafe are all on CD.

The key to MM is Free Recoil which makes finishers only use 2 combo points. Since Finishers also make Empowered Shots instant and refreshes the cooldown it allows for multiple Finishers and Empowered shots to be used quickly.

Note: Again these rotations are not optimal but I use these on nearly every boss and pull and get great results. In full T1 and no T2 I am able to pull 21k+ on Goloch while purging and doing the extra mechanics. The main idea I do is that I spread out the Cooldowns in order to have a good consistant damage over time. Instead of blowing everything on burst.

Rotations without combo points: At Pull.

1. Builder macro (Decoy and 5 points)
2. Finisher macro (Free Recoil/Rapid Fire Shot)
3. Builder macro (for the free Empowered Shot should bring you to 5 points)
4. Bullseye macro
5. Strafe (to get all energy back)
6. Finisher macrox2
7. Builderx5 (I go through this extra set because RFS is coming off of cooldown)
8. Finisher to put Rapid Fire Shot on CD
9. Builder to use Free Empowered Shot and put yourself at 5 points
—-Everything is now on Cooldown—
10. Quick Reload (you should still have 5 combo points)
11. Finisher Macro ***MAKE SURE YOU ARE MOVING SO IT TRIGGERS RFS AND NOT CAST EMPOWERED***
12. Builder macro for free empowered shot (5 points)
13. Bullseye macro
14. Strafe
15. Finisher
16. Back to step 1

Short Derp Version (Slightly less DPS)
1. Builder till 5 combo points
2. Finisher
3. only use deadeye shot when bulls eye is up
4. Reset your cooldowns if you feel like it or when your stuff is on CD

With 5 combo points at pull just start with Bull’s Eye macro (Step 4) and then follow the above rotation.

AoE:
Use Chain Destruction for AoE unless you can line up mobs with Sentry Battery. Use sentry battery untill you have ~50 energy then switch to Chain Destruction to refill energy.

I NEVER use Lighting Fury.

MM is great utility in raids as well. Expect to be a main interrupter and Purger. It is also perfect for using in fights you know nothing about because the mobility, utility, target swaps, on-the-run dps can allow you to dps while avoiding unknown mechanics.

Use Karuul Alerts if you want an easier time tracking your cooldowns:
