Pandora Saga Paladin Guide

Pandora Saga Paladin Guide by Beef

What is a paladin: Paladins are a third tier warrior job expanding from the night class. Unlike the warlord, paladins are much more focused on offense, whether it be by doing damage or by aiding the party in pushing by tanking them through walls of enemy magic. Something to note is that the paladin (as far as I recall) is the only class that can not get 90 points into any ability (slash is the highest at 80 points)

What races should I play: While most any race can play most any class some races are more preferable than others do to stats and racial skills. This depends on what build you want to go with and I’ll touch up more on it as I give build templates.

Most of the time a paladin will either be played for tanking or damage, there are also heal paladin builds but they are very rare and I don’t really know much about them myself, so I’ll only be covering tanking or damage here. If somebody can give info on healing pallys than please share

Note: The builds given here are merely guidelines and it is not only possible but also recommended to tweak them to your liking.

Damage Paladins

These are the guys who are more focused on killing people. Play them if you want a good melee DD with more survivability than a Juggernaut.

Noteworthy Damage Paladins (for the purpose of this guide): Beef(Infantry Paladin), Bedebah(Cavalry Paladin), Valkiey(Dismount Paladin)

Types of damage paladins (along with build templates):

Infantry:
This build is rather uncommon since a lot of people will take a horse just because the paladin can and there’s a widespread belief that horses are a win button. For this build you will likely choose a sword as your weapon of choice for it’s higher damage and the fact that the paladin gets 80 points in it.

Preferred Races: Enkidu with Strong Arm or Stone Skin racial, Myrine with Crit racial, Lapin with MP recovery or magic resist racial, Dwarf with survivability racial (a move that would normally kill you will leave you with 1lp instead)…also dwarves get the dwan dwarf vest (chest piece) that adds str +1 and gives 8 attack, which are very useful

Infantry paladin build:
Str: 99
Dex: As much as you feel comfortable with, no more than 50 and no less than 30 is a good guideline.
Sta: All your remaining points
The rest at default

Slash: At least 71
Defend: 60
Evasion: 8

This build is to get all the slash skills than putting 60 (max) into defend for the survivability and 8 into evasion to get dash for the mobility

or

Slash: 80
Defend: 60

This build maximizes your slash for the damage benefits and max defend on survivability

or

Slash: 71
Defend: 60
Cleave: Rest of your points

This build gives you reposte which is like parry but follows up with a counter attack. It’s a move that isn’t used in pvp very often though since your opponent will usually know not to attack when you put your sword up to block. It’s more useful in pve and makes soloing argus an easy task.

Since I’m an infantry I’ll go ahead and toss my build in here (for level 55):
Dwarf ; Survival Racial
STA: 60
STR: 99
Dex: 36

Slash: 80
Defend: 60

Cavalry Paladins:
The advantage to a cavalry paladin is that they have a horse to take damage for them so they can put less into stamina. On the down side they need more dex since being on a horse cuts most of their stats including accuracy.
Now there are 3 types of Cavalry paladins and I’ll cover them here.

Sword type:
These guys wield a sword on horse back, they’ll likely be lacking in shield skills do to high ability costs
Preferred Races: Enkidu with strong arm, Myrine with crit racial
Stats:
99 Str
50-60 Dex
Rest into STA

Abilities:
71-80 Slash
40 Horsemanship
Rest into Defend

With this build you’ll have all the sword skills as well as a reduced stat reduction thanks to your horse proficiency. However you’ll have less defend prof which means less magic resist so skills like lightning storm and thunder crash will straight up murder your horse.

Spear/Lance Type:
The spear/lance type goes into battle with a spear and lance of course. Spears tend to have lower base attacks than 2h swords however the 1h lance seems to often hold a good deal more power than the 1h sword which makes a shield very welcome into this build, especially since the thrust skill caps out at 55 points.
Preferred Races: Enkidu with Strong Arm, Human with 1h weapons power boost, Myrine with crit racial
Stats:
99 Str
50-60 Dex
Rest into STA

Abilities:
55 Thrust
40 Horse
Rest into Defend

With this build you’ll have full thrust and lowered stat reduction thanks to the horse skill. Since thrust only goes to 55 you’ll be able to get defensive march which works well in conjunction with the defensive attack passive that paladins get at level 50 allowing them to attack while guarding. You also get the dismounting stab ability and I’d suggest getting the 1h lightning lance (the one from the charge shop) to use along with it for a good chance to dismount enemy riders

this just leaves us with:

The Noob Chargers:
A little note to take into consideration ahead of time. Noob chargers are the most HATED players in the game. These are the ones who do all their damage with the horses charge. Now these players are accused of not having any skill. Playing their horse and not their job. Just taking the horse because it’s the easiest thing to play. Now, you might think that since I’m writing this guide that I’ll try and go against these statements and try to defend them…

you should know better.

Preferred Races: Enkidu with stone skin, Myrine with dodge racial, Lapin with magic resist racial
Stats:
99 agi
rest into sta

Abilities:
60 defend
40 horse
12 exorcism
The rest doesn’t really matter

With this build you’re going to have a shield on at all times. You’ll basically work by charging opponents with the agi just to keep you from getting dismounted (though magic can still hit you). You’ll want to keep magic absorption (that’s the 12 exorcism skill) up at all times for the extra magic resistance. If you do get dismounted than you’ll want to boot up dash and run out of there as fast as you can until you can summon your horse again. For added survivability I’d suggest getting a 1 hand holy weapon (sword or lance, doesn’t really matter) for the critical hit reduction.

Dismounting Paladin:
This one can kind of be seen as a side note to the DD paladins but I’ll give it it’s own little section since it’s something I hadn’t thought of and would like to go a bit into depth about.

Special thanks to Valkiey for sharing this idea with me.

This one will be built a lot like the sword paladin however there will be a change in the ability points.

Abilities:
Slash 71
Thrust 35
Evasion 8
Rest into defend

With this ability set you can toggle the dismounting stab buff use dash to maneuver and try to hit the horse with dice, if you don’t dismount him than there’s at least a chance that you’ll cause them to bleed. I’d suggest using this with a lightning edge for added dismounting probability.

or

Abilities:
Slash 71
Thrust 41
rest into defend

With this one you’ll be running it like the other one except you won’t have dash. Here you’ll have spear volley at your disposal to help you hit a horse from a distance. 1h lightning lance recommended here

Tank Type Paladins

The tank paladin focuses on helping to keep the party alive. They don’t get as much physical resistance or LP as the warlord but they do get a large boost in magic defense. 2 defend proficiency = 1 magic resist so at 60 proficiency you get 30 base magic resist. However you should note that this ONLY applies when you have a shield equipped.

Tank Paladins of note: Jerod. I don’t really know any others but Jerod is a great example anyway so it works.

Keep in mind that I don’t know his build or gear list specifically so I can’t post that here but here’s a good one:
Prefered races: Stone Skin enkidu, Dodge buff myrine, bagic resist Lapin
99 agi
30 dex
rest sta

or

99 agi
rest sta

Abilities:
40 horse
60 defend
rest into thrust

This build is similar to the noob charge build except here you’ll stick close to your party to help with tanking. Guard squishies, block in tempests, all that good stuff. You’ll also have enough thrust for dismounting stab so you should get a 1h thunder lance for that as with the spear DD listed above.

I’m sure I didn’t cover all the bases here. So please do post your comments, suggestions and questions, thanks!
