Dungeon Defenders Loot Progress Path Guide

Dungeon Defenders Loot Progress Path Guide by ceemeeir

Oh hi, didn’t notice you there.

I am a frequent forum reader and poster, and lately lot of thread popped up titled “I’m stuck!” “Need help progressing” and there were ones that claimed there is no progression path what so ever, only people that finished them during “test phase” can finish it now, etc.

Well, I decided to help out these people, and prove there is a progression path.

The guide was developed with naked characters in mind that are level 74. If you think you are strong enough, then feel free to skip any part of the guide. Videos may prove very useful, if you can’t successfully implement the layouts.

Note: The guide can be started on level 70. The difference is you will have to farm map#2 to get up to 74.

THE GUIDE

This guide isn’t a leveling guide. Everyone should be able to do that just by completing the campaign (and farm glitter), therefore I will assume you already have level 74, but nothing more.

Starting gear: –NOTHING–
Chars this guide requires:
– Adept or apprentice (layouts are based on this, you can replace it with squire or countess if you want, but you will have to develop your own tactic)
– Initiate or monk
Good to have, but optional:
– Huntress or Ranger

Starting build for each char:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 0/0/0/0 – 0/0 – 65/120/26/120 – 0/0/0/0
Initiate: 0/0/0/0 – 0/0 – 91/120/120/0 – 0/0/0/0
Huntress: 0/0/0/0 – 0/0 – 120/120/91/0 – 0/0/0/0

Start the map with initiate/monk and play during combat phase with adept/apprentice. Focus on gearing up adept the most, but don’t leave initiate left behind too much. OPEN ALL CHEST EVERY TIME.
Do each map as many times as you need to get enough gear to do the next suggested map. Also note, failing for the first time on a map doesn’t mean you don’t have enough gear, maybe you need to refine your tactic, build order. For reference points, check next post. It contains my diary of how I did things.

Map #1
Medium Hall of Court (Pure Strategy or Survival)

GENIE IS REQUIRED. NOT OPTIONAL.
Build from starting mana.
Build before second wave.
Note: Start on wave 8, you finish faster, and if you choose medium PS, then it should be very easy, even naked. If you don’t have any gear, just pick up whatever you find during the map. Don’t forget to upgrade auras when they are at low health. Some info about Genie. When you are upgrading genie, upgrade the attack!

Map #2
Insane Glitterhelm Caverns (campaign)

Build from starting mana.
Build before second wave.
Optional build with huntress.
The following video is using somewhat modified tactic, because run speed and casting speed is low to play with two chars first wave. The characters are NAKED in this video. (2x speed, so you don’t fall asleep)

Note: You can level the genie up very fast here without spending millions of mana on it.

Map #3
Nightmare Endless Spires (campaign)

Note: Chests can contain 90+ upgrade weapons and 60+ upgrade armors even after the first wave. The gear can exceed even ramparts.
Note#2: You can keep farming this in HC NM MM survival mode, and progress towards Map #6 and skip #4,#5.
Map #4
Nightmare Ramparts (campaign)

Start build.
Final build.

Note: The loot of this map doesn’t exceed Endless Spires, but wanted to leave it here as a possible alternative.

Map #5
Nightmare Über Lifesteram Hollow MonsterFest

cubicleninja is missing the map, so can’t provide layout. Check out the vid!

Note: Can be skipped

Map #6
Nightmare Mistmyre Forest

ALTERNATIVE TACTICS

Have a video to share? Other tactic that works? Maybe you did a map with less gear than the previous video maker did? Share! (also send a private message to notify me, so I can edit it)

Nightmare Alchemy Lab (campaign)
#1
Build from first 280 mana.
After that aim for something like this, or this.

THE DIARY

DISCLAIMER: The diary may not be the easiest to read, as some maps are removed from the guide. Each map has a linked video in the guide which also shows the stats I used to beat them.

Alright, Lets get rolling!
*Strip chars from UMF loot*

Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists

#2 loaded map Map #2
Alright, lets try Insane Glitter, maybe we can do something. *Towers get smashed by wave 9 ogres*. Got some decent loot however, so lets up them.
Mana spent on upgrades: 85K (Focused on tower stats)

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 13/13/32/37 – 22/26 – 12/183/128/179 – 17/35/9/39

Huntress: 31/29/26/29 – 42/30 – 134/163/104/30 – 41/25/28/33

#3 loaded map Map #2
Okay, starting to get somewhere now. *Towers get smashed by wave 9 ogres… again*. Realized, I will have to get more tower health. (new loots again!)
Mana spent on upgrades: 120K (Focused on tower stats)
Mana spent on respec: 100K

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 0/16/36/51 – 49/58 – 119/191/70/172 – 38/37/36/30
Initiate: 29/12/15/12 – 24/16 – 100/179/135/36 – 15/37/19/24
Huntress: Did not change

#4 loaded map Map #1 (Can be done as first map)
I have a decent staff now, but I lack my genie that I got used to so much. After checking wikia, found out they are rewarded after completing 14th wave on Hall of Court. *Loads up Medium Hall of Court Pure Strategy*. After 53 minutes, got this genie.

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 0/18/36/52 – 63/72 – 122/193/82/177 – 38/37/36/30
Initiate: Did not change
Huntress: Did not change

#5 loaded map Map #2
Need to level up my new genie, but I’m limited in mana, and also need loot, so lets do Insane glitter again. Something wonderful happened. Wave 9, and even wave 10 ogres got utterly crushed by my new towers! (Uprading them at low health helped also)
Mana spent on upgrades: 590K (Focused on a new staff’s damage)

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 0/39/27/64 – 54/80 – 127/200/81/174 – 39/40/31/34
Initiate: Did not change
Huntress: Did not change
note: Have a staff that does 2.2K damage with each bolt. I get 165mana with each attack now, thanks to the upgraded staff and genie.

#6 loaded map Nightmare Deepers Well (Endless Spires or Rampars is better)
Decided to give a go to Nightmare Deepers well. Went surprisingly well. Fat ogres did not see magic blockades from their stomach. Some kiting didn’t hurt either. With the extra mana from genie, I managed to build several fireball towers during the first round, and blocked the ogre’s path with a magic blockade. Wave 5 got me however.

#7 loaded map Nightmare Alchemy Lab (Endless Spires or Rampars is better)
Same as #6, this time I got an even better staff.
Money spent on upgrades: 240K (focused on staff)

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 48/81/25/43 – 66/97 – 98/214/103/204 – 42/24/21/30
Initiate: Did not change
Huntress: Did not change

#8 loaded map Nightmare Alchemy Lab (Endless Spires or Rampars is better, but if you really want this, check next post)
Figured Alchemy lab was really good for mix-mode farming, why not try it now.. On nightmare campaign mode.
It was a surprising experience. It did not go as bad as I expected. Not really harder than Deepers Well.

#9-#13 loaded map Nightmare Alchemy Lab (Endless Spires or Rampars is better)
Farming Nightmare Alchemy lab. Found several good loot.

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 56/188/60/134 – 163/19 – 178/322/183/223 – 22/24/25/35
Initiate: 0/0/61/107 – 16/88 – 186/217/207/136 – 15/34/10/21
Huntress: 31/29/26/29 – 42/30 – 134/163/104/30 – 41/25/28/33

#14 loaded map Nightmare Alchemy Lab COLOR=”#FF0000″](Endless Spires or Rampars is better)[/COLOR]
Managed to finish alch lab wave 6. The loot from the chest is amazing. I assume I can go and try ramparts soon.

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 93/254/72/192 – 213/119 – 276/303/208/331 – 31/30/21/22
Initiate: 76/88/89/157 – 136/58 – 225/276/236/60 – 24/31/18/24
Huntress: Did not change

#15 loaded map Map #4
Decided to give Nightmare ramparts a go.
The map is a big jump in difficulty from nm alchemy lab. The key is defeating the first wave. Second wave was MUCH easier, the third wasn’t an issue either. Fourth (7/8) wave made me loose however.
Thanks to my luck, I got zero good loot, but the potential of good loot is there. Going to give it a few more try before I add it to the guide section.
More details forthcoming, as I progress.

#16 loaded map Map #4
Starting to figure out the tactic for the map. Managed to do 3.6 waves again. Found a really decent staff, which will help me a lot when upped. Mana at this point should not be an issue. Armors selling for 500-2M drop.
Mana spent on upgrades: 4.8M (upped the staff, sold last one for 3m)

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 93/254/72/192 – 213/119 – 276/303/208/331 – 31/30/21/22
Initiate: 49/230/53/200 – 103/104 – 266/361/281/119 – 20/13/-1/22
Huntress: Did not change

#17 loaded map Map #4
Looks like my tactic is working! Managed to finish the map with over 70% crystal health! (For stats, check previous section). Going to post the tactic I used soon, and I will also make a video-guide for setting it up.
Say hello to the first 100+^ item of the guide: Click me!

New stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 146/201/94/204 – 275/146 – 345/339/191/375 – 15/23/16/14
Initiate: 12/177/43/180 – 117/65 – 243/364/255/91 – 30/20/-2/33
Huntress: Did not change

#18 loaded NM Ramparts survival
Kids, don’t do this. wave 7 has 3 ogres (instead 1), wave 8 has at least 7(instead 1). AT THE SAME TIME.

#19 loaded map Map #4
Recorded my tactic. Found several decent loot. Video incoming soon-ish.
Mana spent on upgrading: 8M (New staff, sold last for 4.5M)

New Stats:
Class: Hero stats – skills – Tower stats – resists
Adept: 141/247/48/231 – 230/90 – 343/340/193/383 – 23/35/24/21
Initiate: 20/17/13/5 – 14/9 – 97/162/136/17 – 12/26/16/10
Huntress: 0/49/132/74 – 199/85 – 311/369/200/232 – 44/36/7/24

#20 loaded map Map #3
Based on private message I loaded up the map, and had to realise… This is easier than deepers well or alch lab. Also recorded a video.

#21 loaded map NM Glitter
Managed to pull off the first 2 waves, but video wasn’t impressive enough to make it to the youtube… I’m not using any gear I found in this run, so the guide can be followed.

#22 loaded map Map #5
I admit, it took me 3 tries to mix the tactic I knew and got by private messages to finish the wave 1, but I did. From now on farming wave 1 should provide excellent loots. With good enough loot I believe the tactic works to pass wave 2, but I’m not sure after that. Ogres may grow too much in number to be able to handle them with such barricades. I think at this point a character with very good hero stats will be needed and/or the player should move to survival or survival mix mode nightmare. Video coming soon.
