Different weapons and good for different people. Weapons in APB are very distinct, with alot of emphasis on situational combat. This means you cannot take an OCA (submachine gun) and expect it to square off successfully against an OBIR (long range battle rifle) from across four lanes of traffic. The same goes, vice-versa. Think of a game of chess, or rock, paper, scissors when you enter a district and not a typical shooter game. Here is a list of what gun is best where, from my own expirence. It is up to you to find which play style you are best with, and I guarantee you there is a weapon that will suit your playstyle if you have the patience to play around and try new things. You may be an excellent sniper in call of duty, but in APB, you could be one of the best shotgun runners in the district if you are willing to give it a try.

Now, the list, the weapons in their most effective range:

PRIMARY LETHAL

MAXIMUM RANGE WEAPONS

HVR Sniper – Maximum Range to Long Range, Semi Auto, Best used against players, (Personally, I find it best for cautious/survival style play and heckling. Extremely useful in choke points and with groups)

DMR Sniper – Maximum Range to Long Range, Semi Auto, Best used against vehicles, (Long range version of the SHAW)

LONG RANGE WEAPONS

STAR – Maximum Range to Medium Range, Slow Auto, Decent against all targets, (Jack of all trades, unfourtunately, master of none. Good starting weapon, and deadly in the right hands, though)

OBEYA – Long Range to Medium Range, Semi Auto, Best used against players, (A more specialized STAR, losing long range accuracy for a quick rate of fire)

OBIR – Long Range to Medium Range, Burst Fire, Decent against all targets, (On the 4.1 patch, I liked this weapon better than the OBEYA. It felt more like an upgrade than a different weapon)

MID RANGE WEAPONS

N-TEC – Medium Range, Full Auto, Best against players, (THE medium range weapon. decent at close and satisfactory at long, but really shines at around 30-50M)

SHAW – Medium Range to Close range, Full Auto, Best against vehicles, (A “car killer”, it does it’s job, and it does it’s job very well. Not so grand against players, however)

CLOSE RANGE WEAPONS

OCA – Close Range, Full Auto, Best against players, (Excellent close range weapon, so long as you can track a target well)

JG – Minimum Range, Semi Auto, Best against players, (Deadly if you are able to get close to your target. Good for stealthy players who are aware of how to hide their Red names and blend in)

NFAS – Minimum Range, Full Auto, Best against vehicles, (The shotgun version of the SHAW)

SPECIAL WEAPONS (thanks to Hunterkiller)

OP-GL – Medium Range, Semi-Auto, good against players and vehicles alike. (Very deadly against clustered groups of enemies (very good indoors) also great against vehicles. Has a minimum arm range so useless very close. Be careful of friendly fire, the spash damage is pretty heavy).

OSMAW – All ranges, single shot, best against vehicles. (Will one-hit-kill un-upgraded players, but tougher enemies will need additional damage. Will also one-shot most vehicles (excluding Balkn Kalvos (trucks), ambulances, Seiyo Espacios, Nulander Pioneers and Nulander Kurais, to name the ones I can remember).

SECONDARY LETHAL

LONG RANGE WEAPONS

COLBY RSA(revolver) – Maximum Range to Long Range, Semi Auto, Best against players, (The pistol equivelent to the HVR sniper. Popular with snipers for the “quickswitching” gamble, and with shotgun runners for it’s range)

ACT 44 – Long Range to Medium Range, Semi Auto, Decent against all targets, (A good, long range assult pistol. Especially useful paired with medium to minimum range Primary Weapons )

MEDIUM RANGE WEAPONS

OBEYA Pistol – Long Range to Close Range, Semi Auto, Best against players, (Jack of all trades, weaker than a Snubnose, but it’s high rate of fire and amazing accuracy makes it a good choice for nearly any situation)

Joker Burst Pistol – (Never used. Looks to be similar to the OBEYA pistol with a three round burst)

COLBY Snubnose – Medium Range to Close Range, Semi Auto, Best against players, (A decent medium range pistol, it has more power than it looks, and is often underestimated by opposing players)

CLOSE RANGE WEAPONS

PDW – Medium Range to Close Range, Full Auto, Decent against all targets, (Excels at close range, but is also usefull at medium. Good backup weapon for dealing with vehicles)

N-FA9 – Close Range Minimum Range, Full auto, Best against players (Plays well with Maximum to Medium range Primary weapons)

I never used Grenade launchers or rocket launchers, so a big thanks to Hunterkiller for those. This list is built on MY expirence with the game, so use it as more of a rough guide, and expirement with your own weapons and playstyle. You WILL come up with your own unique strategies if you let yourself be creative.
