1. Resolution

Your resolution determines how much of the screen you see and is probably the most important factor determining how good you will play. The higher the resolution, the more you can see and the easier it is to aim and dodge, So you want to use the highest resolution you can. When playing on windowed mode, this may reduce your resolution if your desktop resolution is the same or lower than your game resolution (example: if your desktop is 1024×768, and you select 1024×768 or higher in game, your actual resolution will be 992×704 on windowed mode.) To change your resolution select the “Resolution” tab on your Continuum start up screen. You can also see your squad mates or your opponents resolution by searching their names here: http://www.trenchwars.org/index.php?v=pubstats

2. Options

There are some options you can change to optimize your game. Select the view tab on the start up screen and then select options as shown below

Now simply change the options to ones shown in the pictures below

3. Graphics

These next two graphics will change your asteroids so there is a white outline of them making them easier to see and aim around. Right click the image, select save as, go to your continuum/graphics folder, change save as type to “all files”, left click the over1.bm2 file, then click save, then click yes to replace the file. Repeat this but select over3.bm2 instead of over1.bm2

Right click the image, select save as, go to your continuum/graphics folder, change save as type to “all files”, left click the over2.bm2 file, then click save, then click yes to replace the file.

This will add a red dot to the front of your ship which I find helps with aiming. right click the image, select save as, go to your continuum/graphics folder, change save as type to “all files”, left click the ships.bm2 file, then click save, then click yes to replace the file.

Here is my big bullets image. Right click the image, select save as, go to your continuum/graphics folder, change save as type to “all files”, left click the bullets.bm2 file, then click save, then click yes to replace the file.

here are some alternative bullets graphics as well:

Gameplay tips

Try to keep moving at all times, the less you’re moving the easier a target you are.

Pace your deaths. The last thing you want to do is to die out and leave your teammates outnumbered. Say if you have 5 deaths and the score is 10-10. At this point, you need to realize you are in danger of dieing out quickly and adjust your style of play. Basically shoot people on radar and don’t let the blue ships get to close to you.

If an opponent has a high amount of deaths, try to knock him out of the game without being too aggressive and giving him an easy kill. This is especially important if your team is down a player or more already, so that your team isn’t playing outnumbered for too long.

Have a short memory. If you get spawned or someone eats a bullet, try to forget it quickly and focus on what is happening in the game currently. No need to whine to your teammates about it either.

Spawning strategy. What I often do is if I’m in the spawn area and I see a kill message an enemy has died, I let my energy recharge and just wait to see if he’ll spawn near me so that I can get off a quick shot before he can react. This is especially useful if someone is high on deaths and you’re trying to knock them out of the game.

Suicides. If you’re on 9 deaths be aware your opponents may try to suicide you. It’s in their best interest to take a death if it means knocking you out of the game.
Try to avoid this by not letting them get to close to you.
