Luna Online Plus Destroyer Guide

Luna Online Plus Destroyer Guide by xsavarax

Hi, there are many people asking around the forums for asking for a Destroyer guide, so I thought I might try and make one. This is my first guide, and I only have in-game experience with one build of destroyer, so please, correct me or give me extra information :D The purpose of this guide is not about telling you how to use all your skill points step by step, but the different ways a Destroyer can be built.

RACE

Destroyers are Human. You can’t be a Destroyer without being human. Maybe I might add a bit about elf DD fighters later on, but now, I know nothing about elves.

WEAPON
Almost every Destroyer picks a two handed weapon. Why? Because nearly all Destroyer skills are for two handed weapons only. So using one handed weapons is a way of hybridizing I do not recommend at all.
Next you will have to chose is your weapon. There are three kinds of weapons for warriors:

Axe: Axe Mortality increases critical rate and critical damage, which are very useful for Destroyers, especially if Gladiator is inluded in your job path.
Sword: This is either for Sword Rapidity, a sword passive that increases attack speed , or for the use of certain skills. HOWEVER. Some skills that are stated as sword-only in the skill calculator, can be used with axes and maces as well, like Swordstorm, Spirit Sword, Sonic Boom and Spirit Aid.
Mace: Almost never chosen by Destroyers. This is a way to hybridize your character a bit, offering crit rate or attack speed for a bit more of that hard-needed defense.

STAT POINTS

Full STR: Most chosen, increases your damage and critical damage.
Full VIT: Hybridizing for HP and Defense.
Full DEX Chosen as a way to hybridize, for the evasion, crit rate and increasement of minimum damage. However, the evasion you gain from going DEX is not useful for PvP. You can’t tank with it as well, because for every extra monster you are tanking, your evasion decreases.
Mixed stats: At own risk ;) Many players say having mixed stats is not good for your build. You can mix stats however by adding those stats to your armor using the enchant system.

JOB PATH

This is the most discussed part of your build. Be careful when choosing this.

Most chosen combinations
Jobs between () are the ones that offer a noticeable amount of damage for defensive skills.
Jobs in bold are part of the ‘pure’ Destroyer path.

First Job Change: warrior, (guard)
Second Job Change: mercenary, swordsman, (infantryman)
Third Job Change: Gladiator, Knight, (Phalanx)
Fourth Job Change: Destroyer, Panzer, Swordsman[NOT elf-only]

‘Pure Path’: warrior>mercenary>gladiator>destroyer’

This path is not hybridized at any job. If you take this job, you either have to be very funded, or hybridize in your stats. The vocationals (class passives) of this class get you the full 15% attack and 300 crit rate

‘Swordsman Path’: warrior>swordsman>gladiator>destroyer’
The Swordsman Path hybridizes for a set of useful skills, offering 5% attack on your vocationals. The most important skills you gain are:
– Swordstorm: a good AoE skill
– Sonic Boom: a ranged 1v1 skill (at Gladiator you gain a second skill like this)
– Spirit Aid: heal with 10 secs cooldown
– Spirit Sword: ranged sleep skill, very useful for PvP
This path gains no extra defensive skills.

‘Knight Path’: warrior>mercenary>knight>destroyer’
Destroyers who go Knight will be less squishy than other builds. The ‘fee’ for hybridizing to Knight is 210 critical rate from vocational passives, quite a lot. However, they gain:
– Swordstorm: a good AoE skill
– 2 1-handed AoE’s
– Sonic Boom: a ranged 1v1 skill
– Divine Justice: mass HP regeneration skill with long cooldown
– Solid Weapon: increases physical damage by 15%
– Armor Sync: Increases your movement speed while wearing heavy armors
– Weapon Sync: Increases your attack speed
– Blessing Guard: increases physical defence
– Magic Barrier: increases magical defence
– Heavy Armor Expertise

‘Suicidal Hardcoregrind Path’: warrior>mercenary>gladiator>panzer’
Not many people take this build because it will probably be VERY hard to grind from lvl 105 to lvl 145 without any new skills. however, this build has huge benefits. All it loses is 5% attack from vocationals. It gains:
– Divine Justice: mass HP regeneration skill with long cooldown
– Solid Weapon: increases physical damage by 21%
– Armor Sync: Increases your movement speed while wearing heavy armors
– Weapon Sync: Increases your attack speed
– Gun skills
– Blessing Guard: increases physical defence
– Magic Barrier: increases magical defence
This path is getting it’s Destroyer skills at the 6th job, so, very late in the game.

‘Paladin Path’: warrior>swordsman>gladiator>paladin’
Thanks Silentwhim for pointing this out. This path is great for PvP and has a good survival ability, by getting lots of good defense skills at paladin. In exchange for Destroyers high rank skills and 12% attack (though stilll getting 120 crit rate from vocationals), it gets:
– 2 one- handed AoE’s
– Spirit Sword (ranged sleep skill)
– Spirit aid: heal with 10 secs cooldown
– Saint heal: heal with 2,5 seconds cooldown
– Sonic Boom: a ranged 1v1 skill (at Gladiator you gain a second skill like this)
– Heavy Armor Expertise
– Troopership: increases your physical defence by 10%
– Magic Barrier: increases magical defense
– Relaxation (hp regeneration passive)

For paths going swordsman at lvl 105:
I’ll just refer to Canisterburn’s Dual-wielding Fighter Guide

To end our path choices; one great comment by Legend considering job path choice, and all other choices you have to make.

SKILLS
In this part, I’m going to tell you a bit about your skills. I’m not going to tell you which ones to add first, or even which ones you should add. I’m just giving comments on your possible skills. I’ll just list the skills I think are useful for you. Skills in italics are only a possibility, which you should take if you want to and have the skill points for it. And it’s not because a class is not on this list, you should not consider it!

From here, I’ll only list the most important skills. You should be able to make out the rest by yourself now.
Gladiator
Almost the same as Mercenary

Knight
– Heavy Armor Expertise
– Sword Storm (AoE): till lvl 6 or 11
– Solid Weapon(Damage Buff)
– Divine Justice (Hp regeneration)
– Magic Barrier (Magic defense passive)
– Blessing Guard (physical defense passive)
– Weapon Synchro (attack speed selfbuff)
– Armor Synchro (Selfbuff that increases movement speed when wearing heavy armors)

5th job
Destroyer
Continuation from Gladiator
– You should max out earthwave here (or sonic boom if you haven’t picked gladiator/destroyer). You should do that because after lvl 105, you’ll be mainly PvPing, for the rewards. Ranged skills are useful in PvP ;)

TIPS

– I won’t say Destroyers will always be poor, but at least try to be considerate when spending money. You’ll use lots of potions

– If you are fighting mini-bosses/bosses, always use Body Check as soon as possible. It throws a monster backwards, and can make it unable to move. The monster can still attack, but the range of most of your skills is bigger than the monsters normal attack range, so it can’t reach you. Great way of saving on
potions ;)

– If you are fighting 1v1, always use Burning Crash first. It casts very fast, so if it crits(and 1 hit KO’s), it took you less time to kill the monster than if you’d have used an other skill. If it doesn’t crit, there’s always the chance that it will stun the monster you’re fighting, saving another potion :D

– Finding an AoE party may sound stupid with your only lvl 1 AoE skills, but if you’ll compare to a lot of other AoE players, you still have great damage. So, if you can find a tank and some other damage dealers, you can gain good xp at mini-bosses.

– If you can find a Destroyer who’s willing to party you, you can make good xp doing repeatable quests by killing off monsters one by one.
