1 ) Before starting

The main idea of the magic knight was to develop him as a supportive de-buffer for soloplay and partyplay. Because of the today’s circumstances the MK was forced to become a damage dealer. This development was possible to be realized without problems because of his skills and fighting techniques.

A magic knight is able to harm his enemys with weakening magic. The fast attacking speed of skills and rapier hits at moderate damage and his regenerative powers of HP and MP are in charge of the magic knight’s rank as a not to be underestimated opponent in battle against monsters and other players.

The Magic Knight is able to use both, Cariad and Rapier, but the primary weapon is the Rapier. Cariad only makes sense in conjunction with an AoE-Build in a party, but even there I would not use a Cariad. Be sure to know that not all skills are useable by cariad. The cariad can be used as a “gun” for the MK.

ATTENTION: Phantom Grief, Phantom Pain, Vampiric Touch and Blessing of Mana are Rapier-only. Meaning, that you need an equipped Rapier for the mentioned skills.

Real functionality:
Reduces attacking speed of meele weapons, ranged weapons and cariads, moreover this skills seals a base damage and a DOT. Skills are not affected by attack speed reductions of PG. So the effect of PG only counts for the autohit of every weapon.

Real functionalty:
Reduces accuracy of physical attacks, magical attacks are not affected by the effect of PP – no base damage, but a DoT exists. Phantom Pain does not lower accuracy of magical based skills. So only the autohit of physical weapons are reduced in accuracy. Sadly the reduced stats are wrong too.

Real functionalty:
A shield that absorbs a maximum of 4000 HP (1 Second = 20 HP) will be created. Hits up to 4000 HP can be consumed. It is possible to destroy the whole shield with only one hit of 4000 or higher. The remaining damage will be absorbed too.

An example: Sniping does 8k damage, your shield absorbs 4k + 4k (remaining damage).

Purpose: A monster can by tempted so that it fights on your side. The monster has to be your own level or lower. Boss-monsters are not affected by this skill, except 2 bugged bosses (Warloss and Gangster Boss – I wonder if they fix that bug this year) It#s possible to have 3 pets.

Real functionality:

3 ) Status points (How about my status, what do I need?)

Int (intelligence) increases our PHMATK, damage with magic and skills based on int. With int the MK increases the DMG of all elemental skills and his own skills PG and VT. Magic power and mental concentration will do very well. I have to mention that the PHMATK of theRApier is higher than the PHATK. 1 int raises your PHMATK by 2-3, later on even by 3-4.

Str (Strenght) increases the PHATK. As 2 int are 1 str, I would not recommand this attribut, but if you insint going str instead of int, you will have to increase this. 1 str raises your PHATK by 2-3, later on even by 3-4.

Dex (Dextirity) increases our hit and flee rate. Dex is our main defence attribut and very important, because the MK has to fight in the front of battles, with his dex and PP he can tank mobs and he can AoE with this attribut too.

Con (Constitution) is the last important attribut for a MK. It increases HP, whit which you can live longer in taughter battles and it increases the MP recovery rate of Blessing of Mana (BoM). The more HP, the more regenerated MP.

Will increases the chance of dealing a critical hit with magic, short range (meele) physical attacks and long range physical attacks. This can be increased in conjunction with mental concentration. You can increase this, but you don’t have to.

Wis(Wisdom) increases our max MP. Wis would only be interessting for an AoE-Build. BoM is strong enough that you don’t need any wis. If you still need more MP think about mind up and magic boost. In lower levels you still will be forced to sit down, regenerate and even use potions. But this will change after level 40 where you get BoM.

Peculiarity of stat points

The rumor that dex increases the accuracy of skills spreads around. Fact is that with absolutely no dex your skills can miss with low chance at monsters of your own level. Later on in the game around lvl 60 skills are missing less till they reach the point where they do not miss anymore. With dex stated my last skill (lure of incubus) missed at lvl 20 as I battled a red fox guard, from this on skills always hitted.
For bosses it is unsure if dex does influence the hit rate of skills. This still has to be found out. A test fighting Vampire Lord Robinson ended with the result that player A’s Phantom Griefs hitted 4 times out of 5 at a dex of 170. Player B’s Phantom Griefs hitted 2 times out of 5 at a dex of 85. This will be investigated further.

4 ) Builds (What builds can a MK have?

A ) Magic Knight skilled on str

Well, it’s quite simple to level this version. Target 1 Monster – cast PG and PP on it – if it’s a meele monster wait till it get’s near you then attack with rapier swings – if it’s a ranged monster make sure to get in the monster’s range and attack with rapier swings – heal yourself with VT if needed – if the situation is bad make sure to use SoF and LoI. Doing so you should be fine.

Note that Temptation does not fit a str MK build.

B ) Magic Knight skilled on int

The very first thing you have to do is to buff yourself with Balance Up. Get some monsters with Phantom Grief, kill them with the usage of Phantom Grief and Vampiric Touch so that your HP at the end of the battle is like full – heal your MP with Blesing of mana – proceed – if HP is needed grab monsters that are standing alone, cast Shade of Fear on them und heal your HP and MP. Note that workong with teleport will suit this build well too.

Leveling as MK at ranged monsters

Leveling at ranged monsters is the very best choice for an int Magic Knight. Teleport to your monsters, but make sure you are at long distance so that your autohit will not appear – kill it nicely with Vampiric Touch and Phantom Grief – Fire Pole will work fantastic on low HP monsters – make sure to heal your MP after each kill – and as well make sure to heal your HP at your next target – you should be fine with this, works great!

Leveling as MK with Temptation

The enormous damage output ensures the Magic Knight to benefit the most from Temptation. Note that your choice if you temptate meele or ranged monsters depends on the monsters you want to kill. If you want to kill ranged monsters, get meele ones. If you want to kill meele monsters, get ranged ones. Never temptate meele and ranged monsters at once, because the monsters you are leveling at can hit your monsters and they logicaly die after time passes! Well…get a monster temptated, target a monster you want to kill and spam Phantom Grief and Fire Pole – heal your MP after the monster is killed – if you need HP teleport to the next target, use Vampiric Touch, followed by Phantom Grief and/or Fire Pole – if needed use Shade of Fear in situations where you need HP and/or MP or where your monsters get hit – proceed and enjoy.

C ) Magic Knight skilled for AoEing

The balance between str and int is a alround build for leveling purposes of a MK. From the leveling technique it’s very similar to a str MK’s way of leveling. Target 1 Monster – cast PG and PP on it – if it’s a meele monster wait till it get’s near you then attack with rapier swings – if it’s a ranged monster make sure to get in the monster’s range and attack with rapier swings – heal yourself with VT if needed – if the situation is bad make sure to use SoF and LoI.

Note that an addition to this build is the possibility of leveling with Temptation. For this Lightning Shock and/or Fire Pole, SoF and Temptation are required. The more monsters you control, the better it is for you to succed. Make sure to level where monsters don’t show up in groups. Level like this: Use temptation on 1 monster of your choice, start with targeting a monster with PG, followed by Shade of Fear, kill it with rapier swings – as Shade of Fear has cool down for the next target start with Fire Pole or Phantom Grief if you do not have Fire Pole. When the monster get’s near yourself, use Lightning Shock. The monster should be weak by now and you easily kill it. That’s it.

5 ) FAQ)

How do I skill a MK?

The MK offers a large variation on possible builds that are described in my guide. For PvE you have the option to go different 1on1 or AoE builds. Even for PvP there are different builds. Best is to think about how you want to play your MK (PvE –> 1on1 or AoE, PvP). Out of your decision how to play my guide holds tested builds available for you. For special questions feel free to ask me

Why I shouldn’t upgrade Phantom Grief to 14 and let it be on 9?

PG on level 14 costs around 100 MP more as on lvl 9. The only difference is that the attacking speed is reduced for further 10% and around 90 additional DoT is added. To use PG useful, your MP regeneration should be that good to cover the MK cost of around 20% of all casted PGs till you get out of MP.

To show it with numbers: The average MP of a MK around lvl 80+ should be 6000. PG on 9 costs around 200 MP, so you are able to cast 30 PGs till you get out of MP. You regenerate HP und MP all the time. It’s good to cast additional 20% PGs in the whole time where your MP sinks. 30 PGs + 6 PGs (20%) = 36 PGs

If you manage to get casted around 30 PGs till your MP ends, you are well suited. To usefully use PG on level 1 you need around 9000 MP that you still be able to cast around 30 PGs till the end of your MP.

Why it isn’t necessary to skill out Phantom Pain in PvE?

In 1on1 monsters get killed with an enormous speed. A fight lasts a few seconds. It’s not necessary to decrease the enemy’s accuracy rate for this short amount of time. Because of the cool-down-time of 10 seconds PP even cannot be used in an AoE build. Even at bosses this skill is useless, because the only dangerous things on bosses are their skills that cannot be reduced in accuracy by PP.

The Magic Knight is a wonderful class that guarantees a lot of fun, especially on higher levels (40+)
