Battle of the Immortals Slayer Guide

Battle of the Immortals Slayer Guide by Madrox and Outcast

Introduction

A typical description of a Slayer is a class that is mainly based off of dex, resulting in a highly evasive, high crit, and fast attacking class. Low HP, MP, and defense are typical but can be increased through good equipment.

This kind of a class tends to be more gear/skill dependent, and can be a major part in how powerful you are.

My goal is to not create a cookie-cutter guide, but to help teach you how to customise your build to be unique and know what you’re doing! Everything in this guide is based solely on my own individual opinion, and is here for no other reason than to try and help you.

Status Points SLYR010

After you reach level 20, you can start placing two status points into your Slayer every single level.

I would not even consider placing points into an attribute if it isn’t on this list:

Strength: This attribute will increase your base damage.

Dexterity: This attribute will increase your evasion, accuracy, and critical hit %.

Vitality: This attribute will increase your maximum HP.

Builds

There are many options for status point builds.
Hybrids are for people who want the best of both worlds.

Full Dexterity: I recommend this build. You end up with the highest evasion, accuracy, and critical hit %. Your HP and base damage is lowest, but the critical hits and evasion usually makes up for it ten-fold. Remember that some of your skills damage also is based off your total Dexterity! Depending on your gear and pet, you could get some insane critical hit %’s! It may seem a little tougher for some people starting out full dexterity, but I assure you I was personally far from having any issues with it.

Full Strength: You stack every status point you get into Strength. You end up with less evasion, accuracy, and critical hit % than dex in the end, but your base damage ends up greater. Remember that you have low HP and defense due to cloth armor, so the lack of evasion will make this build a possibly stronger build but easier to be killed. Keep in mind that also one skills damage output is based off of your dexterity! It may also be easier starting off as pure strength for some people, but usually this idea for these kinds of classes can be tougher to make good near end-game! It is definately possible though.

Hybrid Dex/Str: Possible Combinations- 1:3, 2:2, 3:1 (Based off every two levels)
For more detailed Combinations- 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 (Based off every three levels)
With this build you would have mostly Dex or Strength, with a little bit of the other. That way you could still have high or decent evasion, accuracy, and critical hit % with a little bit more base damage. You will still have low HP with this build. This is the Hyrbid I would recommend, at least 1:3 (1 Str, 3 Dex) every two levels.

Hybrid Dex/Vit: Possible Combinations- 1:3, 2:2, 3:1 (Based off every two levels)
For more detailed Combinations- 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 (Based off every three levels)
With this build you would have extra HP with decent to high evasion, accuracy, and critical hit %. I wouldn’t recommend putting in more vitality than dexterity! Your base damage will be at it’s lowest with this build.

Hybrid Str/Vit: Possible Combinations- 1:3, 2:2, 3:1 (Based off every two levels)
For more detailed Combinations- 1:5, 2:4, 3:3, 4:2, 5:1 (Based off every three levels)
With this build you would have higher base damage, and more HP. You would have low evasion, accuracy, and critical hit %. I would recommend at least putting in more Strength than Vitality.

**Explanation of the Combinations for hybrids**
**The combinations are how many points to place in each attribute..
For example: 1:3 means (1 Strength and 3 Dexterity) every two levels.**

It is possible to stack points in other things, like Intelligence (Poison Build T_T; Yes, I’ve seen it.. I almost cried) but it isn’t recommended since there really isn’t a use for them.

For a more basic explanation for those who have a hard time understanding everything:
Some good builds would be to pump full dexterity, full strength, or divide them among the two.
___________

Equipment SLYR020

(You can find regular level 30/45 armor from an equipment NPC in Atlantis Square)

Gear Bonuses
Depending on your build, you would want to focus more on certain gear bonuses.
(In order of importance, most to least)
Full Dexterity: HP, Attack Rate +%, Critical Hit Rate +%, Evasion.
Full Strength: HP, Evasion, Attack Rate +%, Accuracy, Critical Hit +%.
Hybrids: Try to get gear with bonuses that focus more on your weaker points, or if you are doing fine go for increasing your strong suits.
**These go for all bonuses, including from gems and insignia scrolls!**

As a Slayer, HP, Dex, Attack Rate %, Critical Hit Rate %, and Evasion serve the most importance. When farming or buying equipment, these five modification are what you are looking for. Additionally, there are several sets of equipment you can obtain. Each completed set adds additional modifications depending on how many pieces of the set you are wearing. There are also two types of equipment sets, Standard sets and Soul Gear.

Standard sets are obtainable with “Stamps of Promotion.” Standard sets are not quite as strong as Soul Gear but are well worth it until you obtain your Soul Gear. To acquire “Stamps of Promotion,” you must complete the “Prison” instance in Atlantis. You can complete the “Prison” instance up to five time per day and receive up to six “Stamps of Promotion” per run. There are currently five levels of standard equipment sets obtainable at levels 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90.

Soul Gear now is another story. The only way to purchase Soul Gear is through another player. Other then that, Soul Gear is dropped during your travels. Currently, there is only four levels of Soul Gear obtainable at levels 45, 60, 75, and 90.

**Important Tip**
For maximum critical % benefits, wear two 4/8 sets for crit bonuses.
For example..
I am currently wearing 4 pieces of SG45 and 4 pieces of 60 Stamp gear.
It is giving me :
From Stamp
2-piece bonus- Physical Attack +23
4-piece bonus- Critical hit +4%
From SG45
2-piece bonus- Physical Attack +24
4-piece bonus- Critical Hit +4%

I am maximizing my critical hit rate instead of a small attack speed boost.
This can be done with a combination of two of any kinds of sets:
ie: 2 Stamp sets, two SG sets.

Level 30 Gear SLYR021

When you hit level 30, there is a set of gear you can buy in Atlantis using items called “Stamp of Promotion”. You receive 5 of these every run through the instance (In Atlantis) called “Prison “(Will get name when I am home from work) The whole set has 8 pieces, for every 2 pieces you equip you will get bonus attributes!

Skills SLYR030

Overview

Starting from level 1, you start out with 2 skills. One of the two is your “XP skill”.

*Look forward to new skills in the near future!*

XP Skill- Every time you level, the lowest bar on the top left of your screen fills up and gets filled with fire. That means you can use your XP Skill. The bar fills up as you are logged on, and increases speed as you are fighting.

Crush- AoE!
Description- Instantly increases max physical attack to strike at most 7 targets around you. This is an area of effect skill.
Cooldown: 20 Seconds Target: Multi Range: 5 Meters
Pros: Our only normal skill AoE, regardless of the “Cons” this is definately a welcomed skill. We generally shouldn’t have any AoE’s. Max physical attack boost greatly increases as this skill is leveled. Fairly short cooldown.
Cons: Seems to only effect our “Max” physical attack, so it may be possible to hit the same occasionally. Uses a ton of MP. Only hits up to 7 targets.

Finesse- Passive (Always active)
Description- Learn to be more nimble and graceful increasing your dexterity.
Cooldown: None Target: None Range: None
Pros: A must to max for any build. This skill affects MANY things.. Your damage on one of your powerful DPS skills, evasion, critical hit rate %, accuracy, and evasion increase from the passive skill Dodge! This is especially important for those who did not go full Dexterity. The boost is very large, especially once you are leveling the skill!
Cons: None.

Level 85 Skills SLYR037

Soul Burn
Description- Direct the void to consume the target’s mana, draining mp and dealing damage equal to the amount of mp drained.
Cooldown: 60 Seconds Target: Single Range: 5 Meters
Pros: Drains the MP from another player in PvP. At max level, this skill drains an insane amount of MP! Could be timed for after Lunge->Trap as long as the stun lands, and after they are free for a killer combination.
Cons: Cooldown could be a tiny bit lower. Uses a fair amount of MP.

Darkest Nightmare
Description- Allows the reaper to invade the enemy’s dream, making them sleep for a set duration. It also reduces their physical defense by a set amount.
Cooldown: 30 Seconds Target: Single Range: 15 Meters
Pros: It is wonderful we have a sleep skill, especially added with a defense reduction in the sleeping enemy. It has a good range, and the sleep/Def debuff duration starts off at 10 seconds then more than doubles at max lvl! Defense debuff is a pretty large amount.
Cons: Uses a ton of MP.

Skill Combos
A combination of skills

Below is a list of skill combinations I found to work great. You may want to tweak these combinations a bit more to your liking but they seem to do well for me. To move to the next stage of combos, simply obtain the skills needed to complete the combo.

STAGE ONE:
Arrow Blade >> Bonebite >> Run >> Repeat

STAGE TWO
Arrow Blade >> Lunge >> Blind >> Bonebite >> Run >> Repeat

STAGE THREE:
Arrow Blade >> Lunge >> Blind >> Bonebite >> Tusk Strike >> Trap >> Attack >> Obfuscate >> Run >> Repeat

STAGE FOUR:
Arrow Blade >> Lunge >> Blind >> Bonebite >> Tusk Strike >> Crush >> Trap >> Attack >> Obfuscate >> Run >> Repeat

STAGE FIVE:
Shadow Curse >> Arrow Blade >> Lunge >> Blind >> Bonebite >> Tusk Strike >> Crush >> Trap >> Soul Burn>> Obfuscate >> Run >> Repeat

As you can see, the idea is to sneak in, hit fast, and vanish before retaliation.

Pets SLYR040

Introduction

Pets can be caught since the beginning of the game. Every once in awhile when you kill a monster, a catchable version will appear! Just click on it and it is caught. You can tell if a monster is catchable by looking for an icon to the right of it’s name at the top of the screen when it is targeted.

Pet Types SLYR041

There’s two different kinds of damaging pets.
Melee and Magic

With Melee pets, you can make them up-close Strength based for DPS, Vitality based for tanking, or Dexterity based to help them last longer with evasion and more criticals.

With Magic pets, you can make a distance magic based DPS pet.
(I recommend the magic based for DPS and PvP for the following reasons..
*They tend to last longer since they are at a distance
*Since we are melee, the magic should affect other melee players in PvP than us who are more sensitive to magic
*In PvP, being able to attack from a distance would give a slight advantage to us.)

Pet Qualities SLYR042

Pet’s have different qualities, growth, and moods.
Quality: Affects increase in overall strength by percentages.
Growth: The higher growth, the stronger your pet grows.
Mood: Special attributes that pets have.

Full list of Moods:
Naughty: Increases attack rate by 15%
Reckless: Increases Critstrike rate by 3%

Excited: Increases physical attack and magic attack by 5%
Cowardly: Increases physical defense and magic defense by 10%
Calm: Increases Max HP and Mana by 10%
Strength: Increases Vitality, Spirit, Strength, Intellect, and Dexterity by 5% (Only second-generation Pets can have the Mood Strength.)

Serious: Increases Accuracy and Evasion by 10%

The Moods in red are what I find most suited for and beneficial to the Slayer.
The Moods in yelloware what I find somewhat suited for and beneficial to the Slayer.
The Mood in green are what I find least suited for and beneficial to the Slayer.

Generally, I find the the best pets for almost any class are the DEX/INT pets and/or the DEX/STR pets. Critrate growth for dexterity pets is through the roof. And if you pick up a Dexterity pet with a mood of either Naughty, Reckless, or Excited, your pet is sure to make the most of it’s DPS.

Note that dexterity and intellect both increase Critrate, thus being the logical choice when choosing a dexterity based pet. So in my opinion, Dexterity/Intellect pets for the win!
