Vindictus Token Planning Guide

Vindictus Token Planning Guide by hereticmaestro

Introduction

This guide was created in order to help people plan their boat trips into the (somewhat very well-known) unknown. I will discuss how the boat trip counter works, as well as provide some simple plans for each portion of the week. I will also demonstrate how to change these plans around to your liking. And at the end, I will explain about Seals of Dedication and Enjoyment, as well as provide some tips on how to obtain them.

The Seal Exchange Bug has been fixed as of 11/24/2010

Boat Trip Counter

It seems that a few people are under the impression that the 7th trip is 3 coins. I guess I have to show you this diagram. Here is an image of the Token Menu on the top, along with the bottom part of the Character Stats Window.

I have circled in Red 2 parts of it. As you can see, the # of battles Today on the Character Window is exactly the same as Today’s Boat Trips in the Token menu. This means that I have already done 6 trips today. And as you can see the next trip, my 7th trip, will cost me 2 tokens. So this dispels the belief that the 7th trip of the day costs 3 tokens. As a result, we can also say that the 13th trip of the day costs not 4 tokens, but 3 since the same logic follows when one reaches that point.

It should also be noted that the boat trip counter will only count trips that use up SILVER TOKENS. This means you can still freely use this guide, even if you plan on throwing in Crimson Tokens, Platinum Tokens, and Boat 1 Free Trips. This also applies to any rides that become free as a result of an Event, like the Free Boat Ride Event during Halloween.

This chart tells you how much each trip will cost based on which run you are up to. Therefore if you wish to use all of your tokens in a single day, you should follow this chart. I stop at 20 runs because one person is only able to trade in seals once each day, and therefore the max tokens you should have on a single day is 60.

While one may wonder why it would be plausible to spend all tokens in a single day, it might be better to look at it in a different perspective. If one happens to have multiple characters, it is often difficult to juggle them, leaving one with a ton of tokens left over at the end of the week for the alts. By using all the tokens in a single day (Mostly with speed runs) it allows one not to waste the extra tokens, and still progress their characters a little, while focusing on their main.

The Early-Week Plans chart gives you 3 options for spending your tokens from Monday to Wednesday, as well as different plans for 50, 60, 70, and 80 tokens. Each one beyond 50 would require you to trade in more and more seals.

The first plan assumes you are attempting to plan an even amount of trips each day. The plan for 50, 70, and 80 tokens have some tokens left over. One may choose this plan if one doesn’t mind wasting 1 or 2 tokens, or if one has a friend or two who are willing to sponsor their trips.

The second plan assumes you are attempting to plan more trips on the first two days, and would prefer to use all of the allotted tokens.

The third plan assumes you are attempting to do as many trips as possible on the first day, while still doing the same number of total runs as the first and second plans.

The Mid-Week chart and the Weekend chart give you 3 options for spending your tokens from Thursday to Friday and Saturday to Sunday, as well as different plans for 50, 60, and 70 coins. The ones beyond 50 would require you to trade in more and more seals.

Plan 1 assumes you wish to go on a relatively equal number of trips each day. With the current allocation of tokens, it is impossible to get an equal number of trips each day AND max out token usage, so this plan will leave 1-2 tokens unused. If one doesn’t mind wasting these, or perhaps has a friend or two who are willing to sponsor their boat ride, this is a good plan to choose.

Plan 2 assumes you wish to go on more trips on the first day while leaving the maximum number of trips the same. This plan will leave 1 token left over, which is fine if one doesn’t mind wasting it, or has a friend or two who are willing to sponsor the boat ride.

Plan 3 assumes you wish to do even more trips on the first day, and also max out token usage, so as not to waste any. This plan is good if you like having an infinite amount of corners on your number, or have very stingy friends who would never part with their tokens even if their life depended on it.

Two-Week Plans

disclaimer: This is not for the light-hearted. You need to keep careful records of your two weeks, and must be able to obtain the required number of seals to achieve the token totals.

Day # (Interim) means on that day between 12:00PM EST and 1:00PM EST (9:00AM PST and 10:00AM PST)

For those of you who wish to maximize the number of runs you can do each week without wasting ANY tokens, I present you the two-week plans.

Plan 1 is for anyone who wishes to Maximin their runs (Maximize the minimum number of runs). In order to complete this plan, you must turn in seals twice. Between Saturday 1 and Sunday 1, and between Thursday 2 and Friday 2.

Plan 2 is for anyone who wishes to Maximize their runs completely. In order to complete this plan, you must turn in seals every single day of the week. This means you’ll want to turn in 280 seals a week.

Maximum Overkill

disclaimer: This is probably only for the Titanium-Hearted. You need to keep careful records of your two weeks, and must be able to obtain 280 seals to achieve the token totals. You will also need to be able to do up to 7 runs within the Interim Period

You guys can thank xJac for this one. He made it, and I have to say, it is probably the maximum number of runs you’ll ever be able to do in 2 weeks. There are a few things you should keep in mind.

First of all, it starts on a Thursday. There is no other way of achieving this total otherwise. Starting on a Saturday only yields 178 runs and uses 138 tokens, and starting on Monday will only yield 176 runs, as with the above plan.

Secondly, you’ll notice that you must do a hefty number of runs within a couple of the Interim periods: 6 during Monday 1(Interim), and 7 during Saturday 2(Interim). This means you will be doing 7 runs in one hour, so if you don’t think that you could possibly achieve this, then do not attempt this plan.

Lastly, You’re left with 1 token. What you wish to do with it is up to you. You can give it away, or you can try to find a friend to give you 2 more tokens and bring your total runs to a cool 180.

Changing the Plans to Your Liking

If you wish to change these plans around, completely switching days is possible, while preserving the number of runs you can do in the allotted amount of time. If you wish to do more runs in a particular day, the rules to follow would be:

For every 2 3-token runs, you must trade in 3 2-token runs. For every 4-token run, you must trade in 2 2-token runs. For every 3 4-token runs, 4 3-token runs must be traded.

Examples:

  1. For plan 3, 50 tokens early in the week, one can decide to do 11 runs on Monday, 5 runs on Tuesday, and 7 runs on Wednesday without changing the total number of runs done or tokens used.
  2. For plan 2, 50 tokens early in the week, if one decides to do more runs on Monday, one can do 13 runs on Monday, 6 runs on Tuesday, and 3 runs on Wednesday. As you can see, doing 2 extra runs on Monday requires 3 to be removed from Wednesday.
  3. For plan 3, 50 tokens mid-week, if one decides to do more runs on Thursday, one can do 15 runs on Thursday, but only 5 runs on Friday. As you can see, in order to do 1 more run on Thursday, 2 runs have to be removed from Friday.
  4. For plan 2, 70 tokens on weekends, if one decides to do more runs on Saturday, one can do 18 runs on Saturday, but only 8 runs on Sunday. As one can see, one has to trade in 4 3-token runs ( 4 from Sunday) for then 3 4-token runs.

Obtaining Seals

One can gain 10 extra tokens each day by turning in 40 Seals of Dedication or 60 Seals of Enjoyment to Ceara once a day. The reset time for this quest is 8PM EST.

How do we get these Seals?

Seal of Dedication – Obtained by reviving incapacitated players or doing a Battle with a player who is at least 10 levels below oneself.

Seal of Enjoyment – Currently only obtainable through Fishing. We can gain one each hour by staying on the fishing boat. It is also possible to receive it from the chests that are fished up.

Tips on Obtaining Seals:

Obtaining Seals of Enjoyment is pretty straightforward: Go on a fishing boat and AFK, or fish for a chance of receiving extra Seals.

Obtaining Seals of Dedication can be done in quite a few ways:

  • Host or join a lower level battle to help players who are lower level than yourself. This nets you 1 Seal per Battle.
  • Try to be the first to revive a player who is incapacitated in a battle. This nets you 1 Seal per person.
  • Make a party with a few friends and go to “Hoarfrost Hollow” or “Culprit Behind the Disturbance” The optimal way to do this would be to buy yourself a set of Premium Rookie Gear and equip the free weapons that are sold in the shops. Carry as many feathers as you want, 3 Phoenix Feathers, and 1 Party Phoenix Feather if you’re willing to throw money around. Evy can bring whatever catalyst she requires for Resurrection in order to get another res.Run the Dungeon until you reach the crazy spike trap. Have 3 people in the group run under the trap and hit the switch. This results in instantly killing 3 of the players, and potentially breaking their armor (two birds with one stone!). Afterward, use your phoenix feathers, and/or party feather if you wish. This will net you 3 Tokens for your phoenix feathers, and 1 for your party feather (note this requires killing your 3 friends twice). Then the next person gets to hit the switch.

Hoarfrost Hollow is a good battle to choose early in the game, but has a weird camera thinger in the beginning that many will find annoying. Culprit Behind the Disturbance isn’t unlocked until around level 27 and spawns a bigger mob of enemies in the first room, but can be dealt with quickly with a full party of 4.
