Why a Mage?

As all classes mages have pros and cons. One of their pros is that they use power of nature (wind, fire, earth). Other special thing about that is that is that each element have special plus. As example Earth causes Stun, Wind slow the opponent (Turbulence is acting as Heavy Air ) and Hells Fire keep getting opponent HP even after hit. Its true they miss Water as element but in fact with Attribute remove it doesn’t matter. Mages own the most powerful AoE spells combined with one of the elements. Other pros is that mage can be caster or tank. Some of the spells Mage has can be used for tanking mobs and keeping them close as Attribute remove or Mana leakage and cast spells as Turbulence and Lightening to kill the opponent/mob.
On the other hand all classes have cons too. Bad thing at mage is that they need party to level up. Soloing depends of build of course is not really recommended for that class. Also mages don’t have a lot of defence, I would say they are bit squishy which make them perfect target for easy kills in PvP. Only few spells are non casting so it makes harder for mage to run and cast in same time. However skills like Potential Motive and Health assistant help them to reach safe place.

Stats in Shaiya

*Strength(Also Known As Str) – Physical Attack Power, Ranged Attack Power

*Defense(Also Known As Rec) – Physical Defense power, Ranged Defence Power, Total Hitpoints (HP)(The Red Bar.)

*Intelligence(Also Known As Int) – Magic Attack Power

*Wisdom(Also Known As Wis) – Magic Defensive Power, Magic Hit Rate, Total Magical Power (MP)(The Blue Bar)

*Dexterity(Also Known As Dex) – Evasion Rate, Hit Rate, And Stamina (SP)(The Yellow Bar)

*Luck– Ranged Attack power,Critical Hit Rate, Maximum Critical Attack Damage.

Builds for each mode:

Normal Mode– You get 5 stat points per level. I recommend the Full Int build.

* +5 INT That is good build if you want to grind faster to unlock HM.
* +4 INT, +1 WIS Also good build. You will get more mana to cast and resist.
* +4 REC, +1 INT Tank build. Not reccomended for normal mode.
* +4 REC, +1 WIS Tank build. Not reccomended for normal mode.
* +4 LUC, +1 WIS Good build but not reccomended for NM.
* +4 LUC, +1 REC Good build but not reccomended for NM.

Hard Mode– You get 7 stat points per level. I recommend the full Int or Int/Rec build.

* +7 INT That is good build. Mage will be strong. Allows fast grind to unlock UM. But you will be defenceless.
* +6 INT, +1 WIS Good build. You will have good damage and more mana and resist.
* +5 REC, +1 WIS, +1 INT Tank build.I think it would be good for grind if you want to be tanker.
* +5 LUC, +1 WIS, +1 INT Good build but not reccomended for HM.
* +5 INT, +2 WIS Good build. I reccomend it.
* +4 REC, +3 INT Good build if you want to solo or PVP.
* +5 INT, +2 REC Good build for solo if you are higher than 25 lv.
* +7 LUC Reccomended in higher levels.
* +7 REC Reccomended for higher levels.Good build for tanker.

Ultimate Mode– You get 9 stat points per level. I reccomended clear int or int/rec build until lv around of 54. Then i reccomened to restat and go Luc build. You need about 475 luc no more no less, rest you can add to int or separate between int and rec.( I get 475 luc rest int and lapised my gear with int/rec. All point i got from PVP I added to int.) If your toon die you have 180 seconds to be ressed or your toon will be deleted. Thats why is reccomended to wear regular ressurection runes or continual ressurection runes ( 3h/6h/7d/15d/30d).

* +9 INT Reccomended for grind but leaves you without defence which can cause more deaths.
* +7 INT, +2 REC Reccomended for grind too but its possible to get aggro of defender, still better than clear int build.
* +7 INT, +2 WIS Reccomended for grind. Add more mana and resist. Good damage.
* +6 INT, +3 WIS Reccomended for grind. Add more mana and resist. Weaker but still good.
* +5 REC, +2 WIS, +2 INT Good build for solo.
* +5 LUC, +2 WIS, +2 INT Not reccommended. Weak build while low levels.
* +4 REC, +5 INT Good build for solo or PVP. You will be really annoying in PVP but will let you survive.
* +2 LUC, +6 INT + 1 REC Good build if you are higher than 25lv.
* +9 LUC Good build. Best in higher levels.
* +9 REC .
Something more about each build:

Int-mage:
*Positive: Very High Attacks and VERY fast Levelling.
*Negative : Very Low Hp, Low Evasion, Low Hit Rate….sigh..
*Levelling Recommendations: Solo Hunt (1 at a time). Party Hunt with a Defender. (Mobbing). IF you are party hunting, Go for the Yellow named mobs

Rec-mage:
*Positive: Very High Defense, High Hp, Great For Soloing, Easy Money
*Negative: Medium-> Low Attack Power (physical and Magic). HIGHLY reliant on AoE Attacks.
*Leveling Path: Solo Yellow -> Orange Mobs that use Physical Attacks. If you attempt to fight Magic using monsters, you will die. Lure a lot of them (4+), You will get almost no damage, Use AoE Attack. Party Hunting is NOT recommended, you won’t be much help to them, and your experience gained will drop. Best to keep soloing Yellow -> Orange mobs, you won’t die and you will get a significant amount of money to buy equipment and items that can help you increase your attack power. Do Not Try To Solo Yellow Mobs until level 14.
Recommended for PVP. This biuld allows you to survive melee classes and with good amount of magic power you will be really strong player.

Luck mage (Very Useful at level 40+)
*Positive: HIGH Crit Rate, High Crit Damage, HIGHEST ATTACK BUILD!
*Cons: SLOW Levelling Rate. Reliant on AoE’s in PARTIES ONLY..otherwise single monster magic.
*Leveling Path: Grind on Green Mobs (Like Normal Mode). At around level 40 you will be doing around 2k+ Damage on every other hit because you will have near 400 luck making your crit rate around 80%. Luck Mages Are not very liked by parties at low levels because of the low damage they do. I HIGHLY recommend levelling as a full int mage and then buying a stat initializing stone from the Item Mall and resetting your stats to full luck. In PVP will be good to add some rec [ like 200-500] it will make you really good dmg dealer and allows you to survive longer.

DiversionCovert all your SP in MP. I use it when my pots are in recharge. I would max it. In fact Mages don’t buff as much as priests so your Sp will regenerate before come time to make Support spell .

lvl 5 [3 sp][0 mp][324 SP][self] at char lvl 62 — converts all stamina into 5508 mp
300 sec cooldown

Health AssistantMy view point, take it to lv 2 only. Leave SP so you can cast skills[Diversion, Equivalent Exchange etc]. This spell eats your mana and stamina before eating away your HP so its good for running away. Also it’s the only way to survive Death’s Breath if you don’t have priest to dispel you.
lvl 1 [4 sp][30 mp][80 SP][self] at char lvl 18 — when attacked, damage will be subtracted from stamina first, then hp, 60 sec duration
lvl 2 [5 sp][70 mp][120 SP][self] at char lvl 29 — when attacked, damage will be subtracted from mp first, then hp, 60 sec duration
lvl 3 [6 sp][120 mp][170 SP][self] at char lvl 47 — when attacked, damage will be subtracted from mp first, then stamina, finally hp, 60 sec duration

Armor

Under Armor

Cotton Armor Gauntlets level 2, Boots level 3 ( you can get them from “Batan’s Armor” quest Map 1); Pants level 4 ( Obtained from “Kei’s Armor” quest Map 1), Top Armor level 5. Most people probably skip this set altogether. It’s likely by the time you acquire all the pieces that you will be high enough level to wear the next set anyway.

Dendron Armor Gauntlets level 8, Boots level 9 ( Obtained from a Zombie quest, received west of Keolloseu, at the Tower, will give these as a reward.) Pants level 10( Obtained from Dwarf quest, received northwest of Keolloseu, at Antaraks Farm), Top Armor level 11 Plain, Noble, and Worship (very rare) versions This armor is also a quest reward. The Noble version of the boots, pants, and top are the best ones available for PvPing in the 1-15 zone ( Portal behind Londa Marshal lead you to 1-15 PVP zone). The quest for the top armor is called Robbed Woodpile. It tells you to get 5 woodpiles and bring them back. In reality you must collect 15 of them and then you will get the noble top as a reward.

Quine Armor Gauntlets level 15 ( Obtained from Vagabond Big Brown Bears quest.), Boots level 16, Pants level 17, Top Armor level 18 Plain and Noble versions This armor is a quest reward. The Noble version of the gauntlets are the best ones available for PvPing in the 1-15 zone. They are from a quest and can also be purchased in a guild house that has been upgraded.

Tathar Armor Gauntlets level 22, Boots level 23, Pants level 24, Top Armor level 25 Plain, Worship, and Heroic versions The worship version of this armor drops from Graveguard Loca, the mini boss of Cornwell Ruins on map 1. He has a spawn time of 30 minutes after he is killed. The heroic version of this armor is dropped from the boss of Cornwell Ruins, Asmo. The heroic top and pants are the best ones avaliable for PvPing in the 20-30 zone.

Loxe Armor Gauntlets level 29( Kill Julia at lake east of Arktius Vill for Poemas Mandoline drop), Boots level 30 ( Kill salaker fighter for Monkey Skull drop), Pants level 31( Kill Orc Robber for Empty trunk drop), Top Armor level 32( Kill Priest Dephnut for Lens Bow drop) Plain, Worship, Dread, Legend (very rare) versions The dread version of this armor is from a series of quests for Hard mode characters. The dread gauntlets and boots are the best ones available for PvPing in the 20-30 zone. The worship version drops from the weaker mobs in Fedion dungeon. There is legend as well and i think it is a very very rare drop from random mobs on map 2. This Dread is considered to be the best for PvP since the legend is far too rare for the average player to consider.

Wilarin Armor Gauntlets level 36, Boots level 37, Pants level 38, Top Armor level 39 Plain, Heroic, and Dread versions The dread version of this armor is very rare. I believe it drops from the Fedion boss Ajuha( You can find it in the bottom of Fedion dungeon). The heroic version drops from the mobs deeper in Fedion.

Fidess Armor Gauntlets N/A, Boots N/A, Pants level 40, Top Armor level 40 Two slotted “worship” only This is an alternate armor version of the Wilarin armor. It looks the same except it’s brown and earth toned instead of green and yellow. It drops from the Asmodeus mini bosses in Maitreyan dungeon and Cloron’s Lair as well as the Generals

Sephiroth Armor Gauntlets level 43, Boots level 44, Pants level 45, Top Armor level 46 Plain, Heroic, Dread, I believe the heroic version of this drops in Maitreyan dungeon and Cloron dungeon lv 2. The dread from the Asmo incarnations in Cloron dungeon and mini bosses in Mait.

Legendary Sephiroth Armor Gauntlets level N/A, Boots level 44 N/A, Pants level 45, Top Armor level 46 The Legendary version of this armor drops from the boss of Maitreyan dungeon, Ankylul.

Goddess Sephiroth Armor Gauntlets level 43 N/A. Boots level 44 N/A, Pants level 45, Top Armor level 46 The Goddess version of this armor drops from the dragon form of the Freezing Mirage boss. This gets my pick for the best armor in the game (though technically goddess anor is better statistically as it gives slightly more HP, MP, SP, def bonus – not much though).

Anor Armor Gauntlets level 50, Boots level 51, Pants level 52, Top Armor level 53 Plain, Heroic, Dread,The heroic version drops from mobs in Elemental Cave as well as Cloron’s Lair, the dread drops from mini bosses in cloron’s lair.

Legendary Anor Armor Gauntlets level 50, Boots level 51, Pants level 52, Top Armor level 53 The gloves and boots drop from Ankylul, the boss of Maitreyan dungeon. The top and pants drop from the Cloron Troll (mini boss of cloron’s lair) or the chests that drop after the Cloron dragon or Freezing Mirage dragon die.

Goddess Anor Armor Gauntlets level 50, Boots level 51, Pants level 52, Top Armor level 53 This drops from Cryptic Throne bosses. This is technically the best armor available for UM mages since it has an extra slot over the “Legendary” Ohpiston.

Ophiston Armor Gauntlets level 55, Boots level 56, Pants level 57, Top Armor level 58 Noble, Dread, and Legendary versions I know the boots and gloves drop from the scorpion mobs in the desert. I believe they also drop in the jungle. The top and pants drop from bosses in the desert/jungle . The Legendary pants seem to be the most rare of this set. This is the highest level armor in the game and for Hard mode or Normal mode characters it is the best set.

Enchantment

Weapons and armor can now be enchanted, adding +7-25 attack to weapons and +5 damage absorbtion to armor. This is done by regular blacksmiths, requires lapisia and items specific to each piece of equipment. If a lapisia fails to enchant it may break your equipment. There are also new AP items called Defense Lapisia and Power Lapisia that will not break your equipment if enchantment fails.

Here is the table of bonuses depending on the enhancement level:
[1] – [3] : +7 atk
[4] – [6] : +10 atk

ReconstructionIf you were unhappy with the conversion of your Ep3 items to their Ep4 versions, or just want to reconstruct a Ep4 drop, you can “re-roll” the Ep4 stats using a Reconstruction Rune at a Professional Blacksmith (these runes are available through the Website Item Mall).
Capes, quest items, most accessory items, and special event items(ex. Dragon masks, St. Patrick’s day hats, army hats) can not be reconstucted. Some exceptions and oddities that can be reconstructed are valentines day rings+loops and ‘unnamed’ slotted helms(ex. a helm with three slots for lapis but not named as heroic)
Once you get one of these runes take it to a Professional Blacksmith, a regular blacksmith can not do this procedure. Place the rune and the item in their respective slots and click the button. Only the orange Ep4 stats will be “re-rolled”, but be warned that the re-roll can give you worse Ep4 stats than what you started with.
