INTRODUCTION

The game has been out for awhile now, and with the implementation of free-to-play many things have changed. As such, I think it is time to update this guide.

The goal of this guide is not to reproduce more complete sources of information, like the CO Wiki, but to provide a quick reference for new players who are trying to get a grasp on all of the choices involved in character creation and development.

I hope you find it useful.

FREE-TO-PLAY

There are two types of memberships to CO, Silver (free-to-play) and Gold (subscription or lifetime membership). The characters that can be created and developed by Silver members follow pre-set Archetypes while Gold members have access to the Freeform Archetype.

Each Archetype has a predetermined set of Powers, Super Stats, Innate Characteristic, and Role. Characters are customized by how the player spends their Advantage and Talent Points. Additionally, at two levels during development, players will have a choice between two different powers.

Freeform characters can choose any Power, any Super Stats, and any Innate Characteristic. They also can switch between different Builds and Roles. The Freeform Archetype also gets more powers during character development.

1. The mayor’s daughter’s friend is just beyond the mayor’s mission area, just outside in the street.

2. Talk to Sapphire at the beginning. It is part of the We Are the Champions perk.

3. You can get a Perk (Red Bug Down) if you jump on the downed ship just past where you start.

4. People in the rubble mission should pop up when you are near the second quest area.

5. The cat carrier is to the left just before you hit the ambulances and people in rubble. Turn in the cat at the third quest area. There is a woman there talking about “Reggie”.

6. Foxbat is to the left just after the ambulances and people in rubble, on the other side of the wall.

7. Kinetic is across from Silverback. If you face the same way as him, head forward then left and you will see a green cloudy area between the buildings. The police radio is in a police car past the ambulances as you head towards Silverback.

8. After the Open Mission with Ironclad, you can get an item from the little “bowling pin” marker on the map. Go there and you will be able to click on it. This happens at every Open Mission.

9. A Master Villain sometimes spawns at the entrance to Champions HQ. He is usually good for an item drop.

10. Talk to the Mayor during the celebration. He gives you the Key to the City souvenir item.
