I. Introduction to the Night Magician class

The Night Magician is a main damage dealer Aika. They use dark magic to fight, which results in high damage but with a downside of either a long cast time or long cooldown time. Dark Magic practiced by the Night Magicians is not evil though, it is called as such in comparison to White/Divine/Holy Magic (Priest). A Night Magician can control a crowd very well. They are just like a suicide bomber, so deadly, so powerful, but so fragile. Nevertheless it’s a great class to play if you like to have a damage dealer or a character with a variety of AoE attacks.

II. Defense

Just like the Priest, a Night Magician has a very low defense – especially to physical attacks. While Warlocks are primarily cloth wearers they are heartier than a lot of other classes due to their defensive magic. Warlocks can tank certain magical encounters in the end game and are not frail in any shape or form.

III. Movement and Range

The first rule of doing damage is that movement is everything. Movement can affect your DPS both positively and negatively and it’s one of the biggest game mechanics that players mess up on. For melee DPS you have to be within melee range (i.e. close) while the good thing about ranged attacks is that it has an automated guiding system. (For 1 on 1 attacks). So no matter how far your target went right after you cast it, he/she/it will still take damage.

IV. MP Consumption

As usual, a mage-like class usually consumes a large amount of MP for each skill. That applies to the Night Magician even more when you activate Mana Shield. It’s always nice to have a priest beside you – which in some circumstances you don’t have to activate Mana Shield – which saves you a relatively large amount of Mana to cast other skills. The other way is to burn potions. It’s much more expensive but you’ll still be able to cope.

V. Tactics

A mage if full of tactics. From spell combinations to teleporting your party – you gotta make your own tactics you feels best as everyone’s gameplay will be different. In PvP, it’s good to have some immobilizing skills – which you will have since your an “evil evil dark magician”…

VI. Kick The Bucket

As stated, you will have a very low defense as a Mage and will die much faster than the other classes. But don’t worry, you also do have buff skills that can boost your defense and you could also immobilize your enemy before they do another damage to you !

VIII. Basic Skills

The Night Magician doesn’t have any basic skills other than the return to Regenshein – Which I will not list here.

IX. Tier 1 Skills

Chaos Flame (Fireball)
“Deals magic damage to target”
Level 1 – 63 Base Damage – Resistance -3 – 25 Additional Crit Rate
Level 2 – 79 Base Damage – Resistance -3 – 27 Additional Crit Rate
Level 3 – 106 Base Damage – Resistance -3 – 29 Additional Crit Rate
Level 4 – 135 Base Damage – Resistance -3 – 31 Additional Crit Rate
Level 5 – 168 Base Damage – Resistance -4 – 33 Additional Crit Rate
Level 6 – 207 Base Damage – Resistance -4 – 35 Additional Crit Rate
Level 7 – 251 Base Damage – Resistance -4 – 37 Additional Crit Rate
Level 8 – 304 Base Damage – Resistance -4 – 39 Additional Crit Rate
Level 9 – 369 Base Damage – Resistance -5 – 41 Additional Crit Rate
Level 10 – 446 Base Damage – Resistance -5 – 43 Additional Crit Rate
Level 11 – 539 Base Damage – Resistance -5 – 45 Additional Crit Rate
Level 12 – 636 Base Damage – Resistance -5 – 47 Additional Crit Rate
Level 13 – 751 Base Damage – Resistance -6 – 49 Additional Crit Rate

This skill is your main spammable basic attack. Either choose to max this or Lighting orb (Which you get at level 8).

Pain (Enervate)
“Deals magic damage to target every second for 6 seconds by attacking the mind with unstable Mana.”
Level 1 – 23 Damage Per Second
Level 2 – 31 Damage Per Second
Level 3 – 40 Damage Per Second
Level 4 – 49 Damage Per Second
Level 5 – 61 Damage Per Second
Level 6 – 74 Damage Per Second
Level 7 – 89 Damage Per Second
Level 8 – 108 Damage Per Second
Level 9 – 131 Damage Per Second
Level 10 – 158 Damage Per Second
Level 11 – 186 Damage Per Second
Level 12 – 220 Damage Per Second

This is the debuff that helps strengthens Erode, Eclater, Hitch, and Darkness Fall. Useless in PvP though.

Change (Polymorph)
“Transforms the target to non-combat, non-harmful animal and decreases Move Speed. Auto-attack is not applicable and cannot be used on multiple targets at the same time.”
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds
Level – Movement Speed – – Lasts Seconds

It a great skill in PvP – with an obvious reason. You can also use it for PvE if you need some control over a few monsters at one time. The downside of this skill is that the target will return to it’s original form once taking a damage from any attack.

Shockwave (Lightning Orb)
“Deals magic damage to target and decreases Move Speed for a certain period”
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds
Level – Damage – Decreases Move Speed by for Seconds

Chaos Flame’s rival skill. This is your other main skill you can choose other than Chaos Flame. The only difference is that this skill decreases movement speed unlike Chaos Flame. Damage wise, this skill deals more – but you’ll only attain this skill at level 8. The damage gap isn’t big too, so it’s your call on which skill to choose.

Black Shield (Mana Shield)
“Sacrifices MP for damages received by generating dark curtain.”
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage
Level – Reduces % Damage – Costs Times Mana of Damage

Black Shield is a continuous discussion skill. Some say it’s invaluable, while others say it’s useless – Which I can’t agree more from both sides. Reducing the damage taken is good, but taking away 2+x more Mana… That’s a lot – which applies to you especially since you’re a Night Magician. I would recommend using this if you’re taking “painful” damage, like AoE and PvP, nothing else.

Chaos Inferno (Hellfire)
“Deals magic damage to target and inflicts 3 second stun by shooting a great dark fire.”
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown
Level – Damage – Seconds Cooldown

The damage of this skill may be high, but the cooldown deproves it by a million times. The main benefit of this skill is the 3 second stun. You might want to leave 1 point at this skill for the stun or max it if you want. At high levels, the damage is a lot… But the high cooldown still applies…

X. Tier 2 Skills

Hitch (Aetheric Shackles)
“Restrains the MP of the target restricting use of skills for certain period. Second casting to same target, while first casting is in effect, effect will last twice longer.”
Level – Damage – Silence Seconds – Additional Damage with Enervate
1 – 104 – 3 – 21
2 – 128 – 4 – 26
3 – 154 – 5 – 31
4 – 187 – 6 – 37
5 – 227 – 7 – 45
6 – 275 – 8 – 55
7 – 328 – 9 – 66
8 – 387 – 10 – 77
9 – 457 – 11 – 91

Hitch is mainly used for the silence effect. Some choose to keep it at lv 1 for a quick disable/gap in enemy dps although it is generally accepted that lv 4 is the minimum effective lvl for this skill. This skill DOUBLES the time of silence if cast during an enemies casting time. Some choose to max this skill to maximize the duration of the silence effect and if cast on a mage, completely remove that enemy’s ability to attack for the entire duration (over 20 secs= epic). It can also be used on melees/scouts to inhibit their ability to use skills which greatly lowers their dps.

Erode (Black Harvest)
“Deals magic damage to target. HP is gained relevant to damage inflicted.”
Level – Damage – Add. Damage from Pain – Heal % of damage – Decrease effect of heals by %
1 – 173 – 35 – 100% – 25%
2 – 210 – 42 – 105% – 28%
3 – 255 – 51 – 110% – 31%
4 – 309 – 62 – 115% – 34%
5 – 375 – 75 – 120% – 37%
6 – 453 – 91 – 125% – 40%
7 – 536 – 107 – 130% – 43%
8 – 633 – 127 – 135% – 46%

Erode is a skill that drains health from your target. You’ll have to walk up to your target however. So it’ll be just like a melee attack. It’s up to you to choose.

Mana Storm (Mana Torrent)
“Increases Magic Attack and MP consumption through reiteration of Mana.”
Level – Increase Magic Attack by – Additional MP Cost
1 – 5 – 3
2 – 10 – 6
3 – 15 – 9
4 – 20 – 12
5 – 25 – 15
6 – 30 – 18
7 – 35 – 21
8 – 40 – 24

As the description says, it adds additional magic attack but at a cost of additional MP. The amount of Magic Attack added isn’t THAT much. So it’s not really worth putting any points in it.

Mana Harmony (Meditate)
“Increases Max MP and Mana Recovery Rate.”
Level – Increase Max MP Amount – MP Recovery Rate
1 – 80 – 5
2 – 160 – 10
3 – 240 – 15
4 – 320 – 20
5 – 400 – 25
6 – 480 – 30
7 – 560 – 35

Mana Harmony adds an amount of mana and mana regen. This skill is also considered to be useless for the same reason Mana Storm is. Its not worth the SP. The amount of mana gained at max lvl is equivilant to one intermediate mana potion, and the mana rejuvinated during battle is either equal or less than that.

Dark Swarm (Shadow Fall)
“Deals magic damage to target by throwing Dark Fragments over designated area. One target will receive on one hit for 10 seconds.”
Level – Magic Damage Per Second – Add. Damage when debuffed with Pain
1 – 68 – 5
2 – 82 – 10
3 – 100 – 15
4 – 121 – 20
5 – 144 – 25
6 – 170 – 30
7 – 201 – 35

This is your first and main AoE skill since it’s spammable. You deal damage for 10 seconds and wait for another 2 seconds before casting another time. During the 10 seconds you cast though – you are “immobilized”. Yes, it’s just like a casting time.

Eclater (Soul Trap)
“Deals area effect damage to targets and conditionally sets target to blow up if the HP drops below 20% or after certain period.”
Level – Damage – Add. Damage when debuffed with Enervate
1 – 340 – 34
2 – 412 – 41
3 – 500 – 50
4 – 604 – 60
5 – 714 – 71
6 – 844 – 84

It’s a good skill at low levels, but just not worth the points during high levels.

XI. Tier 3 Skills

Mana Flare (Aether Flare)
“Deals magic damage by rapidly firing 3 compressed Mana balls.”
Level – Damage – Add. Damage when debuffed with Shockwave
1 – 378 – 132
2 – 457 – 160
3 – 551 – 193
4 – 651 – 228
5 – 768 – 269

Mana Flare is a good attack skill that does a great deal of damage. It also removes 2x defensive skill such as Divine Ward and is instant cast.

Chaos Blaze (Inferno)
“Deals magic damage and decreases Move Speed by causing explosion”
Level – Magic Damage – Add. Damage When Debuffed with Chaos Flame – Decreases Move Speed by
1 – 476 – 119 – 20
2 – 576 – 144 – 22
3 – 684 – 171 – 24
4 – 806 – 202 – 26
5 – 948 – 237 – 28

An instant cast AOE that spreads out from the casters location for a set distance. This skill also slows the enemy and does great damage. This skill is mainly used in PVE for AOE farming but is also usefull in small scale pvp(SSPVP)/battlefield(BF) to do strong dmg, potentially taking out weaker opponents, while also slowing stronger ones to facilitate the WL’s escape/ slow the enemy’s escape from you and your allies.

Sleeping Haze (Nightmare)
“Inflicts sleep by generating a fog. Auto-attack is not applicable.”
Level – Sleep for Duration
1 – 4s
2 – 8s
3 – 12s
4 – 16s

Makes all targets around you sleep for a duration. If they are attacked they come back to normal. This is also good for PvE or AoE farming, but is even more useful than Chaos Blaze for its aid in escaping from or crowd controlling a group of enemies. This skill is usually kept at lv 3 where it puts the enemy to sleep for 12 seconds.

Sould Burn (Rend Soul)
“Deals magic damage and decreases Physical Defense and Magic Defense for certain period by burning the soul of target.”
Level – Decreases Hit Rate – Decreases Move Speed – Decreases Physical and Magical Defence – For Duration
1 – 40 – 20 – 278 – 6s
2 – 45 – 22 – 330 – 7s
3 – 50 – 24 – 389 – 8s
4 – 56 – 26 – 466 – 9s

This is a totally optional spell. A Damage over Time skill that also reduces the target’s physical and magical defense. Depends on your build if you should upgrade it or not.

Mass Teleport
“Instantly transports all party member within 10 meters radius to a saved coordinate. Up to 5 coordinates can be saved.”
It’s useful to defend dungeons and PvE – these 2 only. You can’t use this in Enemy nations or Dungeons so it’s practically useless.

Darkness Fall (Meteor)
“Deals magic damage by throwing a great fragment of darkness to a designated area. Inflicts stun to hit targets.”
Level – Magic Damage – Add. Damage When Debuffed with Pain
1 – 2142 – 214
2 – 2530 – 253
3 – 2985 – 299

The AoE skill that deals the most damage ever. It has a 5 minutes cooldown and takes 8 seconds to cast at LVL 1. It is perhaps the strongest WL skill. It drops on a group of enemies and causes CRAZY damage and also effects a 5 second stun on anyone in the area. This, just as SF, is a channel skill ,however; and as such, is very hard to cast to completion in pvp. For this reason it is more a pve AOE grind/farm skill.

XII. My Skill Build

First, I would like to introduce a leveling guide by adnzzzzz

Quote:
LVL 1-34:
At LVL 4 use one point in Enervate (this skill is always optional: you can choose to level this one up or Hellfire after LVL 12. If you try to level both you might not have enough opints left. If you choose to level Hellfire then just replace wherever you see “Enervate” for “Hellfire” after LVL 12).
At LVL 6 use one point in Polymorph.
At LVL 8 use one point in Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 10 use one point in Mana Shield.
At LVL 12 use one point in Hellfire, Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 14 use one point in Mana Shield.
At LVL 16 use one point in Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 17 you decide if you want to have Aetheric Shackles.
At LVL 18 use one point in Mana Shield.
At LVL 19 use one point in Black Harvest.
At LVL 20 use one point in Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 22 use one point in Mana Shield.
At LVL 23 use one point in Black Harvest.
At LVL 24 use one point in Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 25 use one point in Shadow Fall.
At LVL 26 use one point in Mana Shield.
At LVL 27 use one point in Black Harvest and Soul Trap.
At LVL 28 use one point in Lightning Orb and Enervate.
At LVL 29 use one point in Shadow Fall.
At LVL 32 use one point in Lightning Orb, Enervate and Aether Flare. You should have 1 point left, feel free to choose any skill to level up.
At LVL 33 use one point in whatever you want. ^^

When you hit LVL 34 you should reskill. You can forget about Soul Trap for now. I really like grinding with this skill, though. But I think most people prefer to level without it, it’s your choice really… You can forget about Hellfire (or leave 1 point in there for the stun), since Aether Flare does about the same damage (or more) and has instant cast time and lower cooldown. Depending on your gameplay style, you could also forget about Mana Shield, but I wouldn’t do that now…

After you reskill, your build should look like this:

Code: Select all
Lvl 34 Warlock Build (Remaining: 7 SP)
– Lightning Orb (Lvl MAX)
– Mana Shield (Lvl MAX)
– Black Harvest (Lvl MAX)
– Shadow Fall (Lvl MAX)
– Aether Flare (Lvl MAX)
– Inferno (Lvl MAX)
– Hellfire (Lvl 1/6)
– Polymorph (Lvl 1/8)
– Aetheric Shackles (Lvl 1/5)

By the way, you can level the passive skills up if you want. I don’t really like them, but you might find them useful. You could also keep Enervate and choose to go without Mana Shield or Black Harvest… Your choice! Just try to keep the same amount of points left or the rest of the build won’t really work out… =P

For my skill build:

“(Save)” Means to not add any skill points for that level, and just save up for future use.
“=” Means how many extra skill points you are left with.
I suggest reskill-ing at level 34, and maybe at level 50(Since from level 50 it’s pure grind). Go to the Mage skill master in Military District and reskill.
